Dear Neighbor,
In March, we lost our pet parakeet, named Solstice. He escaped out of his cage, out of our sliding door and into 186 Field Point Road, near Pet Pantry Warehouse. He may still be alive, probably looking for people to feed him since he's lived with humans for nearly nine years.
If he lands on your shoulder or deck, pls. feed and take him in and call us. You can put him in a box or paper bag as long as it has small holes that allow him to breathe.
If he hangs out at your bird feeder or backard, pls. call us immediately so we can bring is bird cage to your home. Birds like Solstice see their cages as their homes.
We hope that you can help us find our dear friend because we miss him very much. We really want to be with him again.

"Would you please pray for my aunt who has breast cancer, my friend Mia who is brokenhearted, my friend Adam, my friend Mira who is suffering from inner demons and depression, my grandmother's friend for an upcoming surgery, for my dad who is under a lot of stress, for the world and nature people, and also for God to grant favor on my very own miracle request(God knows what I am searching for). I'm in a great relationship with a man named A.P. He's an amazing guy and I could see myself having a lifetime with him. Happy together. And I believe in it because it seems so real to me. Its all I ever truly want. I repent of all my sins and will do anything to retrieve that wish/ this miracle. Eventually falling in love, marriage, kids, and just being each other's best friends and lovers to the end. To be patient with each other, genuinely care and compassionate for each other, be the best for each other(effort)respect each other, grow to be good people with the help of each other, never take advantage of each other, take each other for granted(never), forgive each other and resolve (our) problems, comfort each other, laugh with each other, be open to each other, honesty, trust, trustworthy, to have our potential love to grow and nurture, our interest in each other to prosper and nurture, faithful to each other, to have an open hearted and opened minded relationship, to accept/ understand each other, and to have a bond and connection that is emotional, mental, and physical. I believe in this and have faith. I promise to serve with God forever if this is granted. Read the bible. Be involved with the church and our kids to be involved. Please read my Op-Ed piece below that ran in Sunday’s New London Day. I wrote it to clarify the policy disaster that happened during the recently ended legislative session in Hartford. The unfortunate result will be an acceleration of jobs and taxpayers leaving Connecticut. Please forward it to any friends whom are interested in knowing what is really going-on in Hartford.

June 12, 2011 Tom Foley: Outdated policies invite a Connecticut crash The New London Day By TOM FOLEY When a test pilot takes an airplane on a risky test flight, it isn't legal to bring along passengers. Not so in Connecticut politics. Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and our Democrat-controlled legislature recently passed a budget that is a reckless experiment equivalent to a test flight in a poorly designed airplane - with all of Connecticut's citizens aboard for the ride. While the federal government and every other state recognizes the broadly held policy consensus that voters want to hold the line on taxes and reduce spending, Connecticut's political leadership is stuck in a retro-policy world reminiscent of the 1960s. During the legislative session 1960s-era dogma and political pay-offs triumphed over common sense and good policy. It isn't amusing watching Connecticut adopt policy more evocative of Havana or Caracas than Shanghai or Mumbai. We are moving backward rather than forward and Connecticut's citizens will pay a big price. The world has come a long way since the 1960s. People actually believed then that more government would solve problems and steeply progressive income taxes would make a more equitable society. Most policymakers and voters now realize that there are limits to what government can do well and that, past a point, more government merely smothers private sector economic activity, slows income growth, and reduces private sector employment. Connecticut arrived at that point some time ago. We also now know that taxing people excessively doesn't make society more equitable, it just drives away ever-more mobile taxpayers and jobs, reducing everyone's income and opportunities. Because politicians and voters in the 1960s believed we could tax and spend our way out of our problems, politicians saw no need to hide what they were up to. That is not the case today. Gov. Malloy and Democrats in the legislature deceptively describe their budget as "sharing sacrifice," "reducing spending," and wringing "give-backs" out of state workers. Baloney. The facts are clear and simple. Spending in the general fund is budgeted to go up next fiscal year by over $450 million, an increase of 2.5 percent over this year. The governor's "deal" with state workers' unions includes no reduction in either the number of state workers or the overall cost of the state workforce. Gov. Malloy and the Democratic majority are closing this entire budget deficit with increased taxes amounting to more than $2.5 billion. These big tax increases will raise Connecticut's already high cost of living. Most of the increase in taxes will fall on middle-income households. Connecticut households in 2013 will pay on average more than $2,000 more in state taxes than they did last year. With average household income at $68,000, Connecticut's middle-income families will have to again cut back spending to meet their heavy new tax burden, further hurting an already weak economy. What will be the effect of this disastrous policy, other than the hardship and additional belt tightening imposed on Connecticut's citizens? The most damaging outcome will be an accelerating flight of our tax base and jobs. Connecticut is already unaffordable for many families and businesses. Rather than reducing the cost of living, the recently passed budget will both raise the cost of living and the cost of employing people. People and businesses that can leave the state will. Others who might have come here won't. Connecticut has the worst job creation record in the nation. You would think that after their dismal performance creating jobs, our politicians would be reluctant to keep pursuing the same shopworn and ineffective policies. Instead, they are stepping even harder on the accelerator, like the impulsive gambler who after losing a lot of money just keeps doubling down on the same bet. Connecticut is conspicuously alone in its "damn the torpedoes" strategy of raising taxes and doing nothing serious to rein-in spending. In New York, where Democrats also hold the governorship and control the legislature, Gov. Andrew Cuomo has pledged to reduce spending next year by 5 percent, reduce the size of the state work force by more than 10,000 people, and not raise taxes. Like a family that lived too well in the good times, Connecticut has to adjust to current economic reality. That is why when running for governor I pledged not to raise taxes and focus instead on wisely and equitably reducing spending. This policy direction doesn't originate in ideology or politics. It is simply the right thing to do and plain enough for political leaders on both sides of the aisle to recognize most everywhere, except in Connecticut. The current administration's failure to recognize the need for a change in direction will only dig the state into a deeper hole. The only good news in this confounding story is that voters seem to know they are being had. The deceptive messaging isn't working. Everything in Hartford seems too clever by half. Some think the budget doesn't reflect a policy at all, but rather an odd and un-Connecticut introduction of 1930s' style "take care of your friends" urban ward politics. Whatever it is, Connecticut isn't happy. A new poll found 71 percent of voters viewed Gov. Cuomo's policies favorably, while the most recent Quinnipiac University poll showed Gov. Malloy's rating in the mid-30s. It isn't fair that this administration is taking Connecticut's citizens for a risky ride with discredited policies perpetrated by out-of-touch politicians. If you are planning to stick around for the test flight, I suggest you fasten your seatbelt. It is going to be a bumpy ride until our leaders get in tune with the 21st century - or voters replace them with leaders who are.      We truly need to keep Connecticut and it's residents in prayer, that things improve for all those who are currently suffering financial and other hardships due to the current state of affairs in our Nutmeg State.
     The Lord will not be mocked...by anyone...when disservice is rendered to the people via cronyism, favoritism and the pure prejudice of Progressive politics.

     Nary a Progressive Lib Dem in the Tri-State area didn't have a strong and vibrant ABSOLUTE OPINION that poor single mother Tanya McDowell was but a woman desperate to make a better life for her child.
     No need to investigate anything...just 'let her' get away with ripping the system off for a very expensive education she HAD NO BONA FIDE RESIDENCY RIGHTS TO!

     Now we average people are busy scraping it together to get all our kids their educations and health care with virtually no help from 'the government'.

     So imagine our consternation to be reminded once again that there is a certain class of persons who--by the very essence of the fact that they are 'endorsed' by people like the Rev. Al Sharpton--are deemed to DESERVE SPECIAL TREATMENT.

     We heard this from individuals.  We heard this from the press in their endless 'editorials' admonishing 'anyone not like themselves' (i.e. conservatives) just how 'in charge' of things they are.
     HOW DARE ANYONE NOT SANCTION WHAT THIS 'POOR MOTHER' DID?
     We were reminded that the Progressive Libs of NY and CT have every intention of doing things their way or the highway...their 'way' being the 'high road of moral superiority'.

     This has been the 'game' around liberal CT for so long that many of us are virtually IMMUNE to the 'outrage' INJUSTICES SUCH AS THIS would engender in a 'normal person'.
     We've come to accept that this is the way it is, starting in Hartford, and that Connecticut is the 'land of the lost' when it comes to moral and ethical direction.
     And the 'Tanya McDowell' situation is but one more reason why the TEA PARTY PATRIOT movement in CT is gaining more and more members, momentum and determination, for those who do not wish to consign their children and grandchildren to this 'status quo'!
     I've understood the 'dynamics' in CT for three decades now and have opined before on my history of 'civil rights' work all through my life up until this 'new age' of 'retribution and pay-back'.
     I cannot tell a lie and I cannot bear false witness.  I cannot endorse what I feel in my soul to be an injustice.  I will not champion one 'group' while vilifying another.  
     And I won't be burdened with pseudo-guilt for something I am not responsible for.
     My philosophy of old age is, "It is what it is and why bother balking the majority while I am clearly in the minority?
     I can 'live and let live', fully satisfied that the Lord knows TRUE JUSTICE better than any of us humans can even pretend to comprehend-- a philosophy which has allowed situations like that of Rev. Al and the NAACP and Mom Tanya flourish unchallenged for quite some time now.
      ...Until a few 'little things' FLARED UP, that is.
     A big OOPSIE occurred for those who championed the cause of Tanya McDowell.
     She was NOT what she pretended to be.  She was NOT an otherwise law-abiding citizen who in one moment of 'desperation' decided to 'steal' an education for her child.
     No.  She was doing some really bad things and actively 'engaged her son' in scenarios revolving around her 'activities' and 'habits'.

     I don't know about Progressive Libs, but as a rule, I do not believe it is in a child's best interest to have him or her around crack cocaine, marijuana, pimps and prostitutes.
     So trying to make a 'federal case' over her child's education seems a little opportunistic--even for the likes of the NAACP and Sharpton.
     It is my opinion that the ONLY victim here is Tanya McDowell's poor little son...and that for having a crook for a mother who is being supported and enabled by a majority population in CT, that majority being the Progressive Libs.
     But ultimately, these Progressive Libs will be forced to deal with their own inability--in their 'altruistic zeal'--to recognize 'worthy causes' from 'non-worthy causes'.
     And I'm not speaking of what MAN OR WOMAN deems to be worthy, but rather what is worthy in the eyes of the Lord.
     Progressive Libs--like the rest of us--will be held accountable for our thoughts, deeds, words and actions.
     As usual, I expect the NAACP and the Rev. Al Sharptons of the world to dig their heels in and justify their 'Tanya-McDowell-and-Tawana-Brawley-MOMENTS' as examples of RACISM and moan about all sorts of 'victimhood' at the hands of whoever their latest 'villain' is.
     So I have some advice for them:
     Save you breath.  We've heard it before a thousand times to the point of boredom.
      Do a mea culpa if you have the strength of will and moral turpitude to do so.  It'll be good for your soul.
     The very essence of 'the Connecticut paradigm' is a disturbing one, for those looking from the outside 'in'. 
     This is a state which finds itself  awash with skewed 'justice', racial inequality, confounded and spurious 'law making' (or attempts of the same) which is causing honest, tax-paying CT citizens a fortune.
     Businesses are rightfully fleeing this state in view of what they see around them and because of punitive taxes intended to punish them for 'having been too successful'.
     Local governments in Stamford are rift with charges of corruption and Bridgeport is awash with claims of 'voter fraud'.

     In other words, in four days, there have been 250 more STEC cases (HUS and non-HUS) in the EU/EEA  and five additional deaths.
     Per the sprouts situation: "The German Authorities have indicated that food items originating from a distinct producer in Lower Saxony (Germany) are the most likely vehicle of the infection. The German Authorities also declared that all food products (e.g. bean sprouts and other vegetables) originating from the mentioned producer in Lower Saxony shall be taken from the market." (June 13, 2011 update)

     At this time, authorities are still trying to determine the exact nature of this E. coli strain, which has characteristics of bacteria found in both humans and animals.
     In the 'vernacular', epidemiologists are trying to figure out 'which came first-the chicken or the egg'.  But no matter what 'morphed' into what, it is evident that this new E. coli type infectious agent is virulent (contagious and capable of causing severe illness) indeed.
The German outbreak strain seems to share virulence characteristics of STEC and EAEC strains. STEC strains usually have an animal reservoir, while EAEC have a human reservoir. Infections in humans caused by similar strains (same serotype, same phylogroup, same MLST type, and with similar virulence gene array) have been reported in the past, and as such, the strain could not be regarded as “new”. However this outbreak strain is rare, and until now it has never been found to be responsible for the rate of infection and severity of disease seen during the current outbreak. Sequence analysis and comparative genomics will be able to show if the outbreak strain is an EAEC that acquired EHEC virulence determinants, or vice versa. The antimicrobial resistance genotype of the outbreak strain, and the molecular typing of the bla_CTX-M-15-containing plasmid, could provide some clues on the epidemiology of this pathogen.

     The strain responsible for all this illness is RARE, but not unheard of.  
     However, it has never in the past been known to cause SO MUCH DISEASE...and the disease it causes is particularly SEVERE.  This much is known.
     Also, the ORIGIN of the outbreak (what vegetables or other foods are contaminated) is, as yet, not FULLY known.  
     However, lower Saxony sprouts have been singled out as the most likely vehicle of infection and residents are urged to avoid them and if they have them, to throw them away.
     Directives below also indicate that 'earlier recommendations to avoid CUCUMBERS, TOMATOES and LETTUCE from Northern Germany need NOT be upheld anymore.

     I received this email from Amazon today:

Hello, For well over a decade, the Amazon Associates Program has worked with thousands of Connecticut residents. Unfortunately, the budget signed by Governor Malloy contains a sales tax provision that compels us to terminate this program for Connecticut-based participants effective immediately. It specifically imposes the collection of taxes from consumers on sales by online retailers - including but not limited to those referred by Connecticut-based affiliates like you - even if those retailers have no physical presence in the state.
We opposed this new tax law because it is unconstitutional and counterproductive. It was supported by big-box retailers, most of which are based outside Connecticut, that seek to harm the affiliate advertising programs of their competitors. Similar legislation in other states has led to job and income losses, and little, if any, new tax revenue. We deeply regret that we must take this action.
As a result of the new law, contracts with all Connecticut residents participating in the Amazon Associates Program will be terminated today, June 10, 2011. Those Connecticut residents will no longer receive advertising fees for sales referred to Amazon.com, Endless.com, MYHABIT.COM or SmallParts.com. Please be assured that all qualifying advertising fees earned on or before today, June 10, 2011, will be processed and paid in full in accordance with the regular payment schedule.
You are receiving this email because our records indicate that you are a resident of Connecticut. If you are not currently a resident of Connecticut, or if you are relocating to another state in the near future, you can manage the details of your Associates account (here). And if you relocate to another state after June 10, 2011, please contact us for reinstatement into the Amazon Associates Program.
