     With Thanksgiving 'Week' already here, it might be a good time to 'read and review' TSA scanning and personal search techniques in use in American airports today.  Here is the 'Pat-Down' link for you: http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/pat_downs.shtm 
     A thorough read here reveals NO MENTION OF any 'changing of gloves between searches', a fact which is very disturbing.  Doesn't the TSA realize that MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) is HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS and easy to transmit?
     Here is what the Centers for Disease Control, the CDC, has to say about 'MRSA Spread': "MRSA infections, as with all staph, are usually spread by having contact with someone’s skin infection or personal items they have used, like towels, bandages, or razors that touched their infected skin. These infections are most likely to be spread in places where people are in close contact with others—for instance, schools and locker rooms where athletes might share razors or towels."

     Modesty, pervert, pedophile and dignity concerns aside...here is my PARTIAL list of health concerns for the modern airline traveler today:
     1)  Gloves are not changed between 'pat-down' and body exams.  FIX:  DEMAND that the TSA worker change into new gloves for you.  In an ideal case, they would also be required to vigorously wash their hands (and arms) before re-gloving as is done in medical settings and wear face masks when they are contagious.
     2)  The following is a partial list of infectious agents which can be spread from person-to-person on dirty hands/arms, gloves, security wands, chairs, tables and floors.  There is risk not only to the person being examined, but to the TSA Officer, as well.  In addition, careless manipulation of diseased or infected areas can spread and exacerbate any existing infection.  How ironic in this 'day and age' of repetitive hand-sanitizing with 'gels' of all sorts, our Federal Government has chosen to turn our airports into fulminating 'Petri Dishes' capable of transmitting all sorts of pathogens.
    Here are the infectious conditions that concern me the most for now:
   --MRSA, as discussed above.
   --Tinea corporis ('ringworm'-fungal infection of the body, NOT a 'worm') including: Tinea capitis (fungal infection of the head),Tinea cruris (jock itch) and Tinea pedis (athlete's foot)  The most obvious source of infection is the 'floor' where people must stand in (perhaps damp) stocking feet or barefooted.  Ringworm may occur anywhere on the body and one form of Tinea can be spread to a place where it ordinarily does not occur, especially in the unsanitary conditions found in airport screening areas.Here's the National Institute of Health LINK for you:

     Will 'care be taken' with those who have Herpes zoster (shingles) infections? Running hands over 'herpes zoster-infected' skin not only PICKS UP viral particles, but is bound to be EXTREMELY PAINFUL for the poor person being examined.
     ALSO I WOULD ASK, "HOW OFTEN ARE THOSE 'BINS' SANITIZED...if EVER?
   --Diseases spread by feces and/or water: Any 'swiping down below the waistband' with anything or any hand, gloved or not is subject to becoming contaminated with fecal pathogens.  Diseases of concern include: cholera and typhoid fever.
     "Salmonella Typhi lives only in humans. Persons with typhoid fever carry the bacteria in their bloodstream and intestinal tract. In addition, a small number of persons, called carriers, recover from typhoid fever but continue to carry the bacteria. Both ill persons and carriers shed Salmonella Typhi in their feces (stool)."

     The bottom-line:  contamination with feces on gloves is a potential problem whenever 'hands have the potential to go to mouth'.  This is of special concern with children and the elderly.  And it goes for all the E. coli pathogens, as well.
     Then there's:
   --Trachoma: Primary: person-to-person transmission by ocular and respiratory secretions. Secondary: insect vectors such as house flies. A rub-of-the-eye, a cough, sneezing, drooling and 'unchanged dirty TSA Officer gloves' will spread this parasite.  You might recall that it was a major problem with Ellis Island immigrants.

   --Ascariasis: "an infection of the small intestine caused by Ascaris lumbricoides, a large roundworm. The eggs of the worm are found in soil contaminated by human faeces or in uncooked food contaminated by soil containing eggs of the worm. A person becomes infected after accidentally swallowing the eggs. The eggs hatch into larvae within the person's intestine. The larvae penetrate the intestine wall and reach the lungs through the blood stream. They eventually get back to the throat and are swallowed. In the intestines, the larvae develop into adult worms. The female adult worm which can grow to over 30cm in length, lays eggs that are then passed into the faeces. If soil is polluted with human or animal faeces containing eggs the cycle begins again. Eggs develop in the soil and become infective after 2-3 weeks, but can remain infective for several months or years."

     Here's a hypothetical situation for you 'international travelers':
     The 'guy in front of you' has 'eggs on his shoe soles.  He is asked to remove his shoes and puts his bare sweaty feet where his egg-laden shoes were.  He's 'wanded' and then has a 'pat down' which includes his feet because he wears multiple 'corn pads or some other orthopedic device.  The TSA Officers gets 'eggs' on his gloves, doesn't change them and then goes onto his next 'pat down' which includes handling this next traveler's handkerchief.  The handkerchief 'goes to the traveler's mouth' at some point later that day, he swallows some 'eggs' and voila, our hapless traveler now has roundworms.
     Sounds implausible?  Don't bet on it for this and any number of other parasitic diseases.  You just better hope and pray the person in front of you with bare feet doesn't have secondary or tertiary syphilis!
     Yes!  That's what I said.  My next area of concern is:
   --Sexually transmitted disease (STD's): Easily transferred from moist surface to moist surface, such as body-to-glove and back again and in some cases from simple skin-to-skin contact (LGV). STD's which traditionally occur in 'one area', can also inadvertently be spread to other areas, such as the eyes and the mouth under the unsanitary conditions found in airport screening areas. Incontinence pads, catheters and sanitary napkins can be a rich source of pathogens, which when even cursorily 'brushed by a TSA' glove can become a virtual 'disease swab' for the next hapless traveler to be touched by those unchanged gloves.

   --Herpes infections: Genital Herpes herpes simplex viruses type 1 (HSV-1) or type 2 (HSV-2). Most genital herpes is caused by HSV-2 and occurs on the genitals and rectum.  Per our friends at the CDC, "Transmission can occur from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know that he or she is infected."

     How does that make you feel?  Sure a person with HSV-1 (with 'oral Herpes' also known as a cold sore) will stand out to the observant TSA Officer.  But will that Officer change gloves?  Will that TSA Officer 'take care' with open Herpes sores and the clothing, gloves, etc that they may touch during removal and examination?
   --What kind of gloves does the TSA use?  Let's say they're 'polynitrile' (which they appear to be from photographs and would be a likely choice since they need to be both chemical and solvent-proof).  If LATEX is used, some people are tragically ALLERGIC to LATEX and anaphylactic shock can ensue with improper manipulation of body parts in these allergic individuals.
     A 'swipe of the mouth'...or any other body cavity, for that matter, can mean DEATH due to breaching of the mucosal barrier in latex-sensitive individuals. 
     Is this taken into account?
   --Pertussis ('Whooping Cough')--a very contagious disease only found in humans and is spread from person to person. People with pertussis usually spread the disease by coughing or sneezing while in close contact with others, who then breathe in the pertussis bacteria.      Pertussis USED to be under control, but infection rates have risen globally and also in the United States as some parents have become lax with vaccinating their children despite recommendations to do so.
     Airports with world travelers are a 'contagion gateway' for this disease with all this 'up close and personal' scanning and body examinations.  What a wonderful breeding ground for disease our airports have become.  Consider these:
   --Common cold, influenza, 'bird flu', 'swine flu', viral pneumonia--all of these viruses are easily transmitted.  If there is another 'flu pandemic', current TSA regulations will virtually guarantee global contamination for travelers everywhere.  Changing gloves...or even washing hands plus changing gloves is insufficient to protect one traveler from another or to protect the traveler and TSA Officer from each other if and when one is infected with a bad case of 'the flu'.
     And we must consider:
   --Bacterial pneumonia and Tuberculosis: the transmission risks are obvious to all of us.

     Then there are my old friends found in homeless shelters and soup kitchens and the various mental health and other facilities I have worked in:

    --Scabies,head lice (as well as pubic lice, above), mites, fleas (yes-fleas will infest HUMANS when no other warm-blooded critters are available!).  And just think of the burgeoning BED BUG PROBLEM we are having with all these insect 'hitch-hickers' hitching a ride on imported goods, furniture and clothing!  Watch out for those chairs in airports until the regular 'fumigating' programs kick in.
     (And then I will write a piece on the connection between pesticide overuse and human cancer rates....but that's a different story, for now.)
     And so you have the best of my advice for you.  Please note that one of the disease categories that I HAVE NOT included above in the list of easily-transmitted human diseases is HIV infection.  This virus requires direct body-fluid-to-blood contact which is unlikely to occur in the typical TSA screening scenario today, unless internal exams become mandatory.
     There's no way, no how that HIV is 'casually' or even 'easily caught' by being exposed to urine, feces, specks of blood, copious tears or saliva spat upon the face, otherwise I would have been dead long ago.
     I also have not included hyper-contagious/dramatic pathogens such as the Ebola, Marburg and Lassa viruses for the simple reason that typically the 'host' does not 'live long enough' to create any substantial 'chains of infection' in the public in an airport setting.      So there you have it and what I've listed here is in no way comprehensive.  We tell our children NOT TO share combs, hairbrushes, toothbrushes and so forth with others.  Yet we subject them to 'this'. 
     We allow them and ourselves to either be exposed to unwarranted irradiation and/or to be subjected to a 'pat-down' by someone with dirty gloves and perhaps capable of transmitting some disease to us.
     And equally disturbing is the possibility of our INFECTING OTHERS because our 'intrusive TSA' Officer examiner did not bother to or did not KNOW any better than to change his or her gloves.
     We cover our coughs with our 'arm sleeve' or hand.  Then the nice TSA lady pats that sleeve, thus getting a good gloveful of whatever we may or may not be carrying.  Now SHE is at risk for illness just by discharging her duties and she puts others at risk.
     No thanks. 
     It just doesn't seem right, does it?

Dear Readers:
     Here we go.  Admit it--this is the article you've been 'waiting for' and I don't blame you.  You've been 'kept in suspense' lo these many post-election days...and with good reason. 
     The game of 'legal roulette' some like to engage in at election time is variable in it's duration, scope and it's outcome, as we in Connecticut well know.  The fact is, sometimes...just sometimes...that old roulette wheel takes a very, very long time to come to a stop!
     So finally, here it is, the first in a series I have entitled, "AFTER THE MATH" and this is Part I.  My "AFTER THE MATH" Series will highlight and detail post-midterm election 2010 updates in Connecticut and nationwide. 
     The series will contain reporting and analysis as only I can deliver it--as a long-term member of the CHURCH behind the 'President and the Progressive-Lib Democrats.  (See 'SYNOD 2007' below)  Although I am no legal expert, I pray that you find it interesting, at the very least.  We'll start with this 'piece' by ART MOORE of WORLD NET DAILY.
       We live in an age where truth is fully expendable and where 'the Progressive-Lib Dem' mentality manifests every form of 'Godlessness' known to mankind.  Laws are broken with 'organized finesse', or, failing that, with 'blunt force'.  No matter...the MENTALITY is the MESSAGE!
     And we get it!  We, in Connecticut, as in other states, have seen the PROGRESSIVE-LIB DEM MENTALITY run roughshod over decency on many levels.  While nationally, the TEA PARTY PATRIOTS and other Grassroots initiatives have made progress, here in the Nutmeg State we still have much work to do.
     The 'NUTMEG' is a tough nut to crack.  In fact, you can't--it must be grated on a metal grater and VIGOROUSLY at that.  And technically it's a 'FRUIT' from an evergreen species known as Myristica fragrans  (pron: meh-RIS-TEEK-ah  FRAY-grans) an evergreen tree indigenous to--like PRESIDENT OBAMA--Indonesia!

Connecticut's lame-duck attorney general and new senator-elect, Richard Blumenthal, is obligated to investigate credible accusations of voter fraud that linger in the state's gubernatorial election – including possible illegal alien voting – despite Republican candidate Tom Foley's concession yesterday to Democratic opponent Dannel Malloy, charges the GOP's attorney general candidate in last Tuesday's election, Martha Dean


Dean, who is considering further legal action challenging the eligibility of her victorious Democratic opponent, argued Blumenthal is sworn to uphold the federal and state constitutions, making it his obligation to investigate voter fraud "without regard to whether it has been requested or approved by the secretary of state."


Foley supports continued investigation of the allegations but has concluded "there was no credible evidence of fraudulent voting" that would have altered the result.


Allegations include extended voting hours in Democratic-stronghold Bridgeport announced illegally through the reverse 911 system, unattended bags of ballots, ballots photocopied without supervision and union workers leaving replica ballots in polling booths with Democratic candidates checked off.


Republicans cried foul last week after the state's top election official – Democratic Secretary of State Susan Bysiewicz – declared the Democratic candidate the winner despite the absence of an official vote count and a post-deadline tally from Bridgeport that overcame the Republican candidate's lead.


But amid the numerous reported allegations, little has been said about the possibility that illegal aliens decided a gubernatorial race in which the candidates officially were separated by just 5,810 votes out of more than 1 million cast, Dean told WND.


Dean noted that both the mayors of New Haven and Hartford have declared their cities "sanctuary cities" for illegal aliens. She pointed out that over the past three years, New Haven has issued ID cards to about 15,000 people, ostensibly to enable them to use public services such as the library....

BED BUGS

A bit of information that you might like to know about.

We have friends here in our community and one of their sons is an entomologist (insect expert), and has been telling them that there is an epidemic of bed bugs now occurring in America. Recently I have heard on the news that several stores in NYC have had to close due to bed bug problems, as well as a complete mall in New Jersey. He says that since much of our clothing, sheets, towels, etc. now comes from companies outside of America, (sad but true), even the most expensive stores sell foreign clothing from China, Indonesia, etc. The bed bugs are coming in on the clothing as these countries do not consider them a problem.


He recommends that if you buy any new clothing, even underwear and socks, sheets, towels, etc. that you bring them into the house and put them in your clothes dryer for at least 20 minutes. The heat will kill them and their eggs. DO NOT PURCHASE CLOTHES AND HANG THEM IN THE CLOSET FIRST. It does not matter what the price range is of the clothing, or if the outfit comes from the most expensive store known in the U.S. They still get shipments from these countries and the bugs can come in a box of scarves or anything else for that matter. That is the reason why so many stores, many of them clothing stores have had to shut down in NYC and other places. All you need is to bring one item into the house that has bugs or eggs and you will go to hell and back trying to get rid of them. He travels all over the country as an advisor to many of these stores, as prevention and after they have the problem.

I came across this today. It is not about the VFW's actions but I believe it tells us that we must never forget what our great country is to all that live here. We can not allow our country to be destroyed or even divided by the VFW-PAC or anyone else. All members of congress who voted to help spend our country into bankruptcy should read these comments. Many of them would not even understand what this person is talking about. Many more would not even care. I do not think this person came to this country to have it sold to the Chinese or run by Marxists.

35 years ago if you were to tell me that I am going to stand up here speaking in English to a large group of patriots, I’d laugh at you. Every morning I wake up thanking God for putting family and me in the greatest country on earth.

I just want you all to know that the American dream does exist and I am living the American dream. I was asked to speak to you about my experience as a first generation Vietnamese American, but I rather speak to you as an American.

If you hadn’t noticed, I am not white and I feel pretty comfortable with my people.

I am a proud US citizen and here is my proof… It took me 8 years to get it, waiting in endless lines, but I got it and I am very proud of it. Guess what, I did it legally and it ain’t from the state of Hawaii.

I still remember the images of the Tet offensive in 1968. I was six years old. Now you might want to question how a 6year old boy could remember anything. Trust me, those images can never be erased. I can’t even imagine what it was like for young American soldiers, 10,000 miles away from home, fighting on my behalf. 35 years ago, I left South Vietnam to come to America for political asylum. The war had ended. At the age of 13, I left with the understanding that I may or may not ever get to see my siblings or parents again. I was one of the first lucky 100,000 Vietnamese allowed to come to the US. Somehow, my family and I were reunited 5 months later, amazingly, in California. It was a miracle from God.

If you haven’t heard lately that this is the greatest country on earth, let me tell you, IT IS!!! It is the freedom and the opportunities presented to me that put me here with all of you tonight. I also remember the barriers that I had to overcome every step of the way. My high school counselor told me that I could not make it to college due to my poor communication skills. I proved him wrong. I finished college. You see… All you have to do is to give this little boy an opportunity and encourage him to take and run with it. Well, I took the opportunities and here I am. This person standing tonight in front of you could not exist under a socialist/communist environment. By the way, if you think socialism is the way to go, I am sure many people here will chip in to get you a one-way ticket out of here. And if you didn’t know, the only difference between socialism and communism is an AK-47 aiming at your head. That was what I knew and grew up with.

In 1983, I stood with a thousand new immigrants, reciting the pledge of allegiance and listening to the National Anthem for the first time as an American. To this day, I can’t remember anything sweeter and more patriotic than that moment in my life.

Fast forwarding, somehow I finished high school, finished college, and like any other goofball 21 year old kid, I was having a great time with my life, I had a nice job and a nice apartment in Southern California. In someway and somehow, I had forgotten how I got here and why I am here.

One day I was at a gas station, I saw a veteran pumping gas on the other side of the island. I didn’t know what made me do it, but I walked over and asked if he had served in Vietnam. He smiled and said Yes. I shook and held his hand. His eyes started to well up. I walked away as fast as I could and at that very moment, I was emotionally rocked, this was a profound moment in life. I knew something had to change in my life. It was time for me to learn how to be a good citizen. It was time for me to give back.

You see… America is not place on the map; it isn’t a physical location. It is an ideal, a concept. And if you are an American, you must understand the concept, you must buy into this concept and most importantly, you have to fight and defend this concept. This is about Freedom… and not free stuff. And that is why I am standing up here. Brothers and sisters, to be a real American, the very least you must do is to learn English and understand it well. In my humble opinion, you cannot be a faithful patriotic citizen if you can’t speak the language of the country you live in. Take this document of 46 pages… Last I looked on the internet, there wasn’t a Vietnamese translation of the US constitution. It took me a long time to get to the point of being able to converse and until this day, I still struggle to come up with the right words. It’s not easy, but if it’s too easy, it’s not worth doing.

Before I got to know this 46- page document, I learned of the 500,000 Americans who fought for this little boy. I learned of the 58,000 names scribed on the black wall at the Vietnam War memorial. You are my heroes. You are my founders.

When I was eligible to vote, I went out and performed my civic duty. For all of you young people out there, who just turned 18, I encourage you to exercise your duty as an American to be an informed voter no matter where you are or what you do. America fought and died for your rights. DON’T LET HER DOWN!!!

At this time, I would like to ask all the Vietnam veterans to please stand. I thank you for my life. I thank you for your sacrifices, and I thank you for giving me the freedom and the liberties I have today. I now ask All veterans, firefighters, and police officers, to please stand. On behalf of all first generation immigrants, I thank you for your service and may God bless you all and may God bless America! (end speech)

     I took the above 'screenshot' today, September 29, 2010.  In my efforts to redeem myself for what I have unknowingly promoted, I present the following here. 

     The UCC I belong to (for 22 years, but now on paper only) is the 'Wright/Obama' Church.  It was not until June of 2007 at Synod 2007 that I realized how DEEPLY 'my church' was into racist politics and I didn't even know it.  All I knew was that we were 'doing good work' at the Soup Kitchen and shelters and elsewhere in the community. 

     Truthfully, for many years, I personally carried much of the load--both as a church member, but mostly individually first as the founder of the "DO NOT WORRY WORKERS", and then with my healing ministry, http://www.dearoneshealingministry.blogspot.com/ .  Until the current Pastor in Stamford, no one was particularly interested in dealing with 'undesireables'--I'll give Cari that.

      But all she--Rev. Cari Jackson-is interested in is black, gay politics.  Worse still, she's one weird promoter of all things Islamic:

      I 'took the heat' for bringing blacks, prostitutes, drug abusers and the mentally ill (as well as those with 'dual diagnoses', i.e. being mentally ill and having substance abuse problems), into the First Congregational Church of Stamford, which is also known as "The Pilgrim Church".

     Nowadays, things are very different, although the Sr. Pastor at FCC likes to 'brag' about 'this church built on a rock'...SHE who was brought in for purely political and fiduciary reasons only the United Church of Christ can truly elaborate upon.

     I attended Synod 2007 in Hartford, CT at the request of FCC Stamford http://www.fccstamford.org/ and was astounded to see and hear then Sen. Barack Obama's FIRST PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN SPEECH at a  CHURCH MEETING IN HARTFORD.

     Everyone in the UCC DENIED IT, of course, but I didn't.

      My intention is to atone for not recognizing and countering the rabid ANTI-NON-BLACK HATRED and RACISM promulgated by the United Church of Christ. 

     And I'm DOING IT through politics.... just as President Obama, the UCC and Rev. Jeremiah Wright have done for it their purposes.

      All I write below...and indeed ALL of my current POLITICAL ACTIVISM is a result of what I saw at Synod 2007 in Hartford.  Please do not dismiss me casually, for I have much to say. 

     As a member of the TEA PARTY PATRIOTS, here is my 'political testimony' regarding Connecticut politics. 

      Please, if any of you have the LEAST interest in fairness and equality for all, PLEASE listen to what I say and do your own homework.

     Our state deserves 'better' than it has now.  Yes, it's political.  God forbid I should bear false witness in my new political venue, but I will continue to speak up against the corruption and injustices I see for all with the current progressive-lib Dem politics.

     I am taking this opportunity to take CT TREASURER DENISE NAPPIER to task and I want her and her supporters to know where I am 'coming from' so that they may rebut appropriately. 

     Let's see how the 'outcast' from Stamford's 'BLACK GAY CHURCH' makes a difference.

Last Thursday, the Danbury chapter of the NAACP held it's annual gala at the Plaza hotel. From those who remember, last year's gala was a memorable event with the key note speaker had a few words to say about mayor and those involved in the racist email scandal (and who can forget Boughton running out of the room after THAT speech). Well, this year, with the economy on the minds of everyone, the NAACP found the perfect speaker who knew a thing or two about the number one issue in America...State Treasurer Denise Nappier.

With it being the end of the election season, the politicians were out in force. Most absent all Republicans running for office...for the exception of Mayor Boughton (who reportedly gave a rather cold shoulder to ARC member/immigrant rights supporter P.J. Leopold while at the table of Ridgefield First Selectman Rudy Marconi...very classy Mark).

      I'm endorsing and voting for JEFF WRIGHT for CONNECTICUT TREASURE and I urge YOU TO DO LIKEWISE. 

    We are BROKE and we need HELP in CT.

     We've had just about as much 'activism' as we can stand in this state....just as we have nationwide with ACORN and voter intimidation.

     Let's get back to remembering what AMERICA stands for FOR ALL AMERICANS....not just the few.

     'Special interest groups' favored by those who attempt to do 'SOCIAL ENGINEERING' through their elected offices don't realize what they are doing to themselves, their causes and their country.

     Keep bashing business and donations will keep disappearing

     I grieve for what is happening in this country.  'My church' (the UCC-United Church of Christ aka the Wright/Obama church) placed itself firmly in the national spotlight by sponsoring, endorsing and campaigning for then-Senator Barack Obama at Synod 2007 in Hartford, CT, which I attended.

     After that experience, I became 'political' for the first time in my life!

    Politics, race, sex, money and religion....NOT A GOOD MIX. 

     We don't need 'ACTIVISTS' to provide us with 'TEACHABLE MOMENTS'. 

     What we need are decent, qualified candidates like JEFF WRIGHT to represent ALL of us no matter what color, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual-preference, age, health, socio-economic status, business sector, wellness group, education level, lifestyle, political-leaning, etc. group or groups we may belong to. 

     Twelve years is long enough for you, Denise Nappier, as CT State Treasurer.  You've made inroads and you can rest on your laurels.  But you need to move on to your next life challenge.

      This is my prayer and I thank God for giving me the STRENGTH to speak as I do.
