Dear Ones:
     Yes, the various images of the sun have been quite spectacular lately.
     Some might even call them 'beautiful', but only in the context of 'beautiful, but daunting'.
     The image above is but a minuscule reflection of the violent and tumultuous universe around us--a universe which, once in a while commands our attention, as it does today.
     Recent NOAA 'Space Warnings' pages have been rift with all sorts of bar, colors, stars and blurts, the likes of which we do not often see all at the same time.

     Surely most of us know by now that 'something's up' because even the popular media has picked up on 'news of the sun'.  We ALL want to know what is going on. 
     Well, for a while now, I've been providing space weather 'Tutorials' in an effort to prepare readers for what we are now witnessing.
     Just click on the keyword 'Tutorials' below and you can easily bring yourselves up-to-date.

     Considering that things will be ratcheting up to a solar activity crescendo sometime in 2014, it might be worth your while to save as reference the links and information I have posted for you here over the past few years.

     What we are witnessing now is the result of a so-called 'solar minimum', wherein the sun's activity becomes 'dimished' overall, on the large-scale of things.
     But, when the sun DOES erupt, the 'show' is more profound than it would be during a 'normal cycle'.  
     Experts tell us that 'solar minimums' come around every one hundred years, or so.

     As such, satellite transmissions will be affected/disrupted due to the increased 'proton storm activity' as charted below due to solar activity right now:

     Dolphins and other creatures whose navigating systems are dependent upon a 'constant, reliable earth's magnetic field' are being beached and otherwise detoured.
     I suspect that migrating birds and other species will also exhibit atypical behaviors and patterns, as well.
     The reason for this is that our planets magnetic field has been 'jogged', but good, as a result of all the solar energy affecting not only the earth's atmosphere, but the earth, itself, as well:

     Additionally, radiation levels at high altitudes will be higher than normal, to the point that air travel patterns will be altered.
     Radio 'bursts' will affect our radio transmissions.  We can expect interruptions in cell phone and computer services.
     And finally, we must prepare ourselves for extremes of weather on earth due to the impact of all this on-going solar flare energy on planet earth.
     Just how this will manifest is not always predictable and we cannot always specifically know, although educated guesses can be made.
     We would do well to be on the lookout for volcanic, tornadic, tsunamic, and seismic activity, most likely coupled with fierce rain, snow, wind, flooding, dust and other weather-related 'events'.
     Below is a 'look' at solar 'wind' at the present time.  You should be aware that there is always a lag-period of from 2-5 days (approx.) between the time energy-in all of it's manifestations--'flares' off the sun, and the moment when it impacts the earth's atmosphere and then earth, itself.

Dear Ones:
     Look at the diagram above.  It is quite profound.
     For those of you who are not acquainted with my 'TUTORIALS', you will not realize what this means.
     To those of you who are familiar with my 'space weather' tutorials as "the Biblical Biochemist" whose 'hobby' is studying things such as this....you will note that this is an unusually 'high' level for the Kp index.
     The above reflects the energy from the sun ('space weather') that is currently affecting the earth or which has the potential to affect the earth in 1-3 days....my estimate.
     We are currently in a period of 'solar minimum', which means that in the world of astrophysics, the sun is 'quiet' for longer periods of time...but when it DOES finally 'erupt' with solar flares and the like, those events are all the more 'profound'.
     Such is the case now.
     There's been quite a 'jog' magnetically for the earth:

     No, I can't tell you exactly 'how' the earth will be affected.  All I can say is that the earth WILL be affected in the form of severe weather, earthquakes, satellite disruptions, perhaps tsunamis, tornadoes and any number of unsavory weather events.
     I'm a little surprised myself to see that things are flaring up like this at this time.  Perhaps the 'only thing' you will notice is some minor interruptions while watching your cable t.v.
     (That would be the pesky proton storm in progress, knocking out those satellite transmissions, by the way.)

     Solar flares are both 'cool' and incredible to witness and recently we've had some 'humdingers'.

     Here's a look at some recent 'solar flares'...also known as 'solar eruptions' or 'coronal mass ejections (CMEs):

     For your edification, solar flare activity is officially at a 'HIGH' with 8 M-class flares and 13-C class flares in the past 2 days.
     It's not that common to have a 'HIGH' flare level, just so you know.
     The area 'most likely to flare' is number 11302.
     Please check out all these sites yourselves.
     Educate yourself as to what may be happening at this time in earth's history.
     I just find it interesting that just as some of the very worst of human nature appears to be manifesting itself here on earth (just read the news!) that solar 'events' are concurrently...'flaring up'!

Mayor Calls for Partial Evacuation of City and Issues Curfew for City Streets

Saturday, August 27, 1011, 6:30 PM, Stamford
Mayor Michael Pavia met at 6:00 P.M. this evening with all City and operations emergency personnel.

“Because wind gusts may exceed 75 mph, I am issuing a curfew of all non-essential, non-emergency vehicular and pedestrian traffic from City streets effective 6:00 A.M. Sunday morning, until further notice,” declared the Mayor. “We are closely monitoring this storm for severe weather and unsafe conditions. We urge our residents to use extreme caution and stay at home.”

Earlier today, Mayor announced a mandatory evacuation of areas that are most vulnerable to flooding. “Due to expected high tides, storm surges, and heavy rains, I am advising anyone that lives in a low-lying area or along river flood plain areas, to relocate to higher ground,” the Mayor stated.

Residents who live on the following streets are reminded to evacuate their homes and move to higher ground. Those streets are as follows:

Sea Beach Drive (#76 and above, even numbers only)

Saddle Rock Road

Rogers Road (#49 and above)

Ralsey Road South (#1 through #37, odd numbers only)

Downs Ave. (#111 through #142)

Ralph Street (#9 and #15)

Dolphin Cove Quay (#160 and above)

Kennilworth Drive West (#73 through #95)

Weed Ave. (Weed Circle, #195 through #225)

Residents should make arrangements with family, friends or other accommodations. If none of those options are available to you, the City has opened a shelter at Stamford High School, located at 55 Strawberry Hill Ave. at 5:00 PM.

Please bring any necessary medications, toiletries and bed linens you will need with you. Shelters are pet-friendly, however all animals must have their vaccinations up to date (tags or paperwork) and must be crated. Please bring food and medicine for your pets.

If necessary, additional shelters will open and be announced on the City’s website: www.cityofstamford.org and on Twitter @cityofstamford. Emergency workers at Stamford HS will direct evacuees to additional shelters, if necessary.

Dear Ones:
     At this time, we are under the 'threat' of a substantial Hurricane named 'Irene'.
     As I prepare, myself, to help with emergency sheltering in the area...and secure my own family...I wanted to make sure to share some information with you.
     Please do take the time to make note of what I've written here, so that you can assure the best safety for yourselves and for your loved ones.
     DO IT NOW!  PLEASE!
     The 'emergency hurricane hot-line number' for Stamford is 203-977-8840.  Use it while you can.
     And most of all, make sure that you have appropriate emergency preparedness supplies and are 'good-to-go' for whatever may befall us.
     Please be prepared for the worst of loss of phone systems and power, flooding, wind,  tree-tumbling, structural damage, lack of food, water and all the essentials we ordinarily take for granted.
     Rest assured that our best emergency preparedness people are 'on top of things'.
     While we pray that we need not initiate the highest levels of assistance for this Hurricane Irene, I can tell you that people like Bobby Valentine (Dir. of Emergency Preparedness for the city of Stamford) and Elizabeth Rodriguez of the MRC (Medical Reserve Corps) have things well in hand.
     But I truly love our most precious of Stamford's Health And Social Services former MRC Director Elaine Braccia R.N. and her group of wonderful, caring healing 'Angels'.
     It is a pure joy to have the opportunity to work with such selfless and 'giving' people!
     There are so many good people in Stamford who care about YOU, dear Readers!
     All that is asked is that you 'stay current', be prepared and be responsible for those around you.
     We are not alone on this earth--our sisters and brothers of all ages are here too!

Dear Ones:

     A large preliminary magnitude 6.8 earthquake has occurred in the PERU-BRAZIL BORDER REGION.

     This is noteworthy given that the longitude of this earthquake is roughly 'in line with' the Virginia earthquakes...not that they are necessarily related.

     The fact is, seismologists do not know if this is significant. 

     Unfortunately, there is no such thing as 'accurately PREDICTING' earthquakes, so I present this to you merely as an item of interest.

"Earthquake Scripture In Case You're Curious" By Reverend Barbara Sexton 'Dear Ones Healing Ministry'

Dear Ones:

     We have experienced an earthquake and may or may not experience more in the form of 'after-shocks' which can be every bit as bad-or even worse-than the original.
     Even as we speak, seismologists at the USGS and elsewhere are still 'fine-tuning' the exact data for the original quake.  In fact, it has been downgraded by the USGS to a 5.8 mag, and at a depth greater than the original one km (0.62 mi).

     I urge one and all to not panic.  Use common sense and listen to public officials for safety information.
     And be sure to click on keyword 'tutorials' for a crash-course on how to understand earthquakes and find useful links for you and your loved one.

     Most of all, take comfort in these words of Scripture.  I quote here the NIV for Protestants and the KJV for Catholic and Orthodox readers, as representative 'versions'.

     Of course, the Word of God is Universal...and so the message is the same in all versions of Holy Scripture.     

     Earthquakes in The New Testament figure prominently in Matthew 24 (meaning 'verse' 24), Luke 21 and Mark 13.  I urge you to read them in their totality yourselves.

      We will start with Matthew 24:6-8.  Jesus is speaking:

 "6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains."

     Interestingly, in the King James Version of the Bible, we read:"and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in divers places" Mt 24:7 (KJV)
     Back to the NIV translation, Luke 21 reads: "There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven." Luke 21:10-11 (NIV)
     Back to the NIV translation, Mark 13 reads: "8Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains." Mark 13:8 (NIV)

     The corresponding verse in the KJV reads: "...and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows." Mark 13:8
