     Oh...the shouts and CRIES FOR JUSTICE rang loud and clear!
     Nary a Progressive Lib Dem in the Tri-State area didn't have a strong and vibrant ABSOLUTE OPINION that poor single mother Tanya McDowell was but a woman desperate to make a better life for her child.
     No need to investigate anything...just 'let her' get away with ripping the system off for a very expensive education she HAD NO BONA FIDE RESIDENCY RIGHTS TO!
     Nuff said in 'liberal Connecticut'!
     Now we average people are busy scraping it together to get all our kids their educations and health care with virtually no help from 'the government'.

     So imagine our consternation to be reminded once again that there is a certain class of persons who--by the very essence of the fact that they are 'endorsed' by people like the Rev. Al Sharpton--are deemed to DESERVE SPECIAL TREATMENT.

     Oh, how ready all of Rev. Al's sycophants were to not only SUPPORT this apparent 'theft of educational services', but to declare that Tanya is but a VICTIM, worthy of any and everything she should desire.

     We heard this from individuals.  We heard this from the press in their endless 'editorials' admonishing 'anyone not like themselves' (i.e. conservatives) just how 'in charge' of things they are.
     HOW DARE ANYONE NOT SANCTION WHAT THIS 'POOR MOTHER' DID?
     We were reminded that the Progressive Libs of NY and CT have every intention of doing things their way or the highway...their 'way' being the 'high road of moral superiority'.

     This has been the 'game' around liberal CT for so long that many of us are virtually IMMUNE to the 'outrage' INJUSTICES SUCH AS THIS would engender in a 'normal person'.
     We've come to accept that this is the way it is, starting in Hartford, and that Connecticut is the 'land of the lost' when it comes to moral and ethical direction.
     And the 'Tanya McDowell' situation is but one more reason why the TEA PARTY PATRIOT movement in CT is gaining more and more members, momentum and determination, for those who do not wish to consign their children and grandchildren to this 'status quo'!
     I've understood the 'dynamics' in CT for three decades now and have opined before on my history of 'civil rights' work all through my life up until this 'new age' of 'retribution and pay-back'.
     I cannot tell a lie and I cannot bear false witness.  I cannot endorse what I feel in my soul to be an injustice.  I will not champion one 'group' while vilifying another.  
     And I won't be burdened with pseudo-guilt for something I am not responsible for.
     My philosophy of old age is, "It is what it is and why bother balking the majority while I am clearly in the minority?
     I can 'live and let live', fully satisfied that the Lord knows TRUE JUSTICE better than any of us humans can even pretend to comprehend-- a philosophy which has allowed situations like that of Rev. Al and the NAACP and Mom Tanya flourish unchallenged for quite some time now.
      ...Until a few 'little things' FLARED UP, that is.
     A big OOPSIE occurred for those who championed the cause of Tanya McDowell.
     She was NOT what she pretended to be.  She was NOT an otherwise law-abiding citizen who in one moment of 'desperation' decided to 'steal' an education for her child.
     No.  She was doing some really bad things and actively 'engaged her son' in scenarios revolving around her 'activities' and 'habits'.

     I don't know about Progressive Libs, but as a rule, I do not believe it is in a child's best interest to have him or her around crack cocaine, marijuana, pimps and prostitutes.
     So trying to make a 'federal case' over her child's education seems a little opportunistic--even for the likes of the NAACP and Sharpton.
     It is my opinion that the ONLY victim here is Tanya McDowell's poor little son...and that for having a crook for a mother who is being supported and enabled by a majority population in CT, that majority being the Progressive Libs.
     But ultimately, these Progressive Libs will be forced to deal with their own inability--in their 'altruistic zeal'--to recognize 'worthy causes' from 'non-worthy causes'.
     And I'm not speaking of what MAN OR WOMAN deems to be worthy, but rather what is worthy in the eyes of the Lord.
     Progressive Libs--like the rest of us--will be held accountable for our thoughts, deeds, words and actions.
     As usual, I expect the NAACP and the Rev. Al Sharptons of the world to dig their heels in and justify their 'Tanya-McDowell-and-Tawana-Brawley-MOMENTS' as examples of RACISM and moan about all sorts of 'victimhood' at the hands of whoever their latest 'villain' is.
     So I have some advice for them:
     Save you breath.  We've heard it before a thousand times to the point of boredom.
      Do a mea culpa if you have the strength of will and moral turpitude to do so.  It'll be good for your soul.
     The very essence of 'the Connecticut paradigm' is a disturbing one, for those looking from the outside 'in'. 
     This is a state which finds itself  awash with skewed 'justice', racial inequality, confounded and spurious 'law making' (or attempts of the same) which is causing honest, tax-paying CT citizens a fortune.
     Businesses are rightfully fleeing this state in view of what they see around them and because of punitive taxes intended to punish them for 'having been too successful'.
     Local governments in Stamford are rift with charges of corruption and Bridgeport is awash with claims of 'voter fraud'.

POLICE MEMORIAL PARADE & 'AFTER PARTY'

 From Stamford P.D. Lt. Nick Montagnese:

5 p.m. Police Parade through Downtown Stamford — The events will kick off at 5 p.m. at Veterans Park (Bank and Atlantic Streets) with a police parade down Bedford Street through downtown Stamford. It will include mounted, motorcycle and K9 units, an armored police personal carrier, honor guards including each of the states’ represented and police pipe and drum bands from throughout the region.  It will end in front of the Stamford Police Dept at 805 Bedford Street.

6 p.m. Police Memorial Ceremony – A Police Memorial will take place outside of Stamford Police Headquarters at Bedford & Hoyt Streets where the names of police officers killed in the line of duty will be read aloud, along with remarks from law enforcement dignitaries, playing of TAPS, a 21 Gun Salute and a military flyover by the Connecticut National Guard.  Speakers will include: Mayor Michael Pavia, Stamford Police Chief Bob Nivakoff and city Police Officer Richard Casparino, who was wounded in the line of duty.

7 p.m. Police Fund Raiser for Killed in the Line of Duty Fund – Following completion of ceremonies Stamford Police ‘Killed in the Line of Duty Endowment Fund’ will host a fund raiser which is open to the public. For a $5 or greater donation each attendee will be provided Hamburgers and Hot Dogs. Six downtown Stamford establishments co-hosting the police memorial after party fund raising will be offering drink specials to attendees. Police week fund raiser co-host venues include: Brickhouse, Tigin, Lola’s, Telluride, Bradford’s and Butterfield 8.

Dear Ones:
     I am addressing this as much to those who do NOT care for Republican (let alone TEA PARTY) politics, as I am to my fellow 'TOM FOLEY' supporters.  The message I want to give you is that we are basically on the same page.
     Yes.  I said that. 
     It may seem that UNION members SHOULD, by definition, 'hang-onto' the old DEMOCRAT straight-line voting, just because IT IS EXPECTED OF THEM! 
     But I am here to tell you that it is time for a CHANGE!  I urge each and every one of you to THINK FOR YOURSELVES, talk with your brothers and sisters and then come to the right conclusion when you pull that lever on Nov. 2.
     It was my honor and pleasure to meet and speak with some AFL-CIO Local 1298 protesters at a recent Tom Foley/Scott Brown Rally at the Riverfront Center in Glastonbury.  For persons like myself, it is as natural as breathing for me to 'migrate' towards 'kindred spirits'.

      Anyway...as I said to Dan McSparran, Legislative Co-Chair Of the Communication Workers of America AFL-CIO Local 1298 and his fellow protesters...We DON'T come from different perspectives. 
     I also told all present that I was raised in a poor family with a father who worked as a 'safety engineer' on behalf of Union workers in the NYC Tri-State area. 
     What I didn't have time to share is that one of my Grandfathers worked as a 'nightwatchman' and the other was a 'presser' in the garment district in NYC. 
     Each year, the only winter coat my brothers and I got was one hand tailored for each of us by Grandpa Ike from (DANG-awful itchy, but made with love and FREE!)) heavy wool remnants.  You don't grow up like I did and then struggle on your own for decades to see what you've gained all sucked away by the GREEDY POLITICIANS in power today!
     I could no longer turn my back on the concerns of workers and immigrants than I can on my 'own'.  We (the Foley camp) have more in common than you will ever believe, my Union friends.  As a matter of fact, just check out the full-video (in two parts) of the event you were 'picketing', if you are curious to see what went on. 
     In it, you will see that we are not all that 'far apart' at all!
     We ALL want jobs and are concerned about jobs.
     We ALL worry about health care benefits and what's happening to them under the onus of 'Obamacare'.
     We want the very BEST education for our kids.  It's time to get rid of poorly-performing teachers who are so 'locked-into' the system that they consider themselves to be invincible.
     We want to be able to afford to send our kids to college.
     We want to fight terrorism in all it's forms and to protect our homeland.
     We want to squelch the destructive 'class/race/elitism/socioeconomic/partisan politics' mentality of those currently in power and get back to good old American basics.
     We love our military service members and our veterans.  We love our elderly, our babies, our mentally and physically challenged friends and neighbors and we love our animals.
     NEXT time, don't just stay outside, come INSIDE and listen to things for yourselves, dear Protesters!  I say these things to you as volunteer chair of Tom Foley's 'independents' coalition.
     Yep, I am trying to win your hearts and minds to vote for Tom for Governor of Connecticut, giving it my 'best shot'.
      I wouldn't do this if I had the slightest doubts about my new-found political activities.  In fact, Heaven help the person who tries to influence MY independent vote through force, intimidation or graft!  
     I know some of you consider yourselves 'wed' to Dan Malloy and all-things-Democratic per Union officials-on-high.  I get that.
     But let me tell you that just as the Malloy camp got that repetitive 'Bibb Ad' wrong, now Malloy's 'take' on Tom's 'healthcare option intentions' is even MORE ABSURD. 
     'No more mammograms'?  Give me a BREAK!  I'm a biochemist and an alternative health care provider MYSELF, just so you know...and one who's had two breast surgeries due to mammogram cancer scares.  C'MON!  You think I want to deny ANYONE A MAMMOGRAM or TREATMENT?  You've got to be kidding!
     Plainly put, Dannel Malloy is getting more and more desperate to take apart Team Foley-Boughton in ways that will continue to truly mislead you, his loyal followers.  Sad to say that the progressive-lib Dems currently in power are so 'far removed' from 'barn jacket wearers' that it's not even funny.

      Just please know that while I support Tom Foley, I am a 'tough nut to crack'.  If I didn't think that Foley and his people would DELIVER on what they PROMISED....I wouldn't even be doing what I am. 
     All I ask is that you check and check again on your own guys and see who's 'in it for themselves in the end' and who's really in the gubernatorial race to help ALL of Connecticut's residents, including hardworking Union workers.
     What we need now is not the province of any ONE party or political persuasion.  We need good people who are honest and who have common-sense matched by intelligence, positive support and vision.
     Do you want to be known as 'the guys who are all okay with the corrupt dealings and bankrupting of our fine country thanks to the politics of today'?  Or do you want to be known as the voter group(s) who 'MADE THE DIFFERENCE' to 'take things back' for all the people?  You can see just how horribly divided the country is now.  Whatever happened to our ability to 'agree to disagree' and live happily together ANYWAY in the United States of America?
      I leave you with these thoughts, my new friends:  I'm a 'newbie' to politics'.  Granted, I am an 'idealist' and an 'optimist' and probably very naive about some things.
      But I know Dan Malloy.  He was my neighbor across the street and then behind me--as I told you on October 9, 2010 in front of Glastonbury's Riverfront Community Center.  I 'love' Dan and his family to pieces, but I just can't vote for the guy! 
      Vote for Dannel Malloy and you will be branded securely as nothing more than 'the rank and file' of Connecticut--exactly the kind of heartless Obama-Pelosi-Reed 'classism' that is tearing-apart of our country. 
     Stick with that crew who readily embraces the stigmata of BLUMENTHAL and his bearing of false witness regarding the selfless and sacred sacrifices of those protecting our country honorably overseas and domestic military service.  Stick with him and you and your Unions will be branded, too!
     TRULY GOOD DEEDS need not be TRUMPETED!  They 'speak' for themselves!
     America is so much more than this!  We LOVE our country, our rights and our pre-eminence in the world and.  But under the current administration, we are ALL under assault!  We need the help of America's Unions, to work and fight with those of us who are sick of the status quo!
     Please do NOT undervalue what the Republicans (and the TEA PARTY PATRIOTS) are doing to help protect YOUR UNION JOBS from being shipped overseas...and to protect the future of your kids and grandkids. 
     You'd better believe that the regime you are supporting is living high on the hog....even if we're not.  Why do it any longer?
     The current Administration is fomenting 'classism, racism and elitistm'.  I cannot tell you, my Union friends, how much Tom Foley IS NOT ABOUT THAT.  Watch the video of him and Senator Scott Brown and hear them talk about jobs, jobs, jobs....and jobs.  I'll try to publish as many things like this as I can and you can judge for yourselves who you want heading up our home state.  If I heard it once, I've heard it a score of times, already, from Tom, himself: "EVERYTHING'S ON THE TABLE".  This means YOUR INTERESTS are on the table, as well, my friends.
     Let me be the irascible INDEPENDENT, ever-optimistic, that I am.  I pray that Union members will listen, reflect, digest and react according to their individual hearts and consciences and let "the capitalism that helps ALL of us" flow and flourish in a selfless and 'non-elitist' way! 
     Can you not see that the 'Obama-Pelosi-Reed-Malloy' alliance is killing industry in the U.S.?  Can you not see how current jobLESS numbers continue to SKYROCKET.

Dear Ones:
     There's no doubt about it- our God is a loving God and He wants us to celebrate being alive and to enjoy our short time here on earth!  
     Indeed, his very first MIRACLE was at the behest of his Mom at a wedding in Cana.  Mother Mary asked her Son to replenish the wine supply for the wedding party in progress.
     As the loving and caring Savior that he is, Jesus complied to the delight of all present.  It's interesting that the Lord in all his wisdom chose 'party time' as a moment suitable to first expose people to the wonderment of his miraculous ministry.
     But as much as we are encouraged to 'be joyful always', sometimes we cannot help but deeply grieve when we lose someone we love.  It is at those times that God's admonition to 'be joyful always' is absurd in the face of our suffering.  Of course, it is then that we have our most powerful opportunities to let our 'FAITH' sustain us...if only we let it. 

  And leave it to humankind to take their God-given JOY and use it to 'overindulge'.  When our partying becomes excessive and self-abusive, it becomes tragic.  Worst of all, excessive behaviors affects more than just the perpetrator, especially when innocent victims become involved.

     Getting irresponsibly drunk or blown out on drugs and then getting behind the wheel is not only foolish, but it is also a very, very thoughtless and selfish act.

     Sometimes young people are cut down in their 'prime', even before they've had a chance to live their lives fully.  Sometimes, parents outlive their children--an indescribable sadness that appears to defy all natural laws.  Such loss is never forgotten.
     Parents are supposed to pre-decease their children...not the other way around.  NO ONE is supposed to look down at a casket and say, "This is my daughter".  No parent should even say, "This is my son", or "This is my grandchild" at a graveside, in mourning.

     The deaths of children affect their peers even more.  It is not possible for most young people to be able to comprehend the circumstances of and the finality of the death of one of their classmates.  Friends aren't supposed to DIE...they're supposed to 'be there' so you can hang out together, graduate together and eventually grow up and attend each others' weddings and other happy events together.  It's not supposed to happen like this!
     But sometimes things do not go as planned and the  inconceivable occurs.  In the case of ANGELICA NAPPI, who was killed on February 22, 2008, two and a half years ago at the age of 14 by a driver on drugs, the lives of her family and friends are inexorably changed.

     But we can be comforted by knowing that they are definitely safe and sound in a Heavenly Realm.  Having 'been out of my body' myself due to sepsis and major surgery, I can tell you that THIS (this earthly life) is the hard part!  Believe it.

     As our children who have gone before us are now united together and in good Hands, why can't we here left behind do likewise and 'stick together' to support and uplift each other?

 "Dawn Nappi has a mission: to prevent children from being killed by intoxicated drivers.

Nappi, 38, of Holbrook, has teamed up with Mothers Against Drunk Driving in the wake of the death of her daughter, Angelica Nappi.
Angelica, 14, died Friday, three days after the car she was riding in with five other girls - including her sister, Nicolette Nappi, 12 - was struck in Medford by a car police said was driven by an unlicensed driver on drugs.
"I hope the death of my daughter is a gain in that there's a productive force to prevent this from happening again," she said. "I want to spare other parents this heartache."
The driver, Stephen Catalano, 37, of West Babylon, remained in fair condition in Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he is in police custody. Catalano was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and was expected to be arraigned today in First District Court in Central Islip.

'Olfactory Memories Of September 11, 2001' By Reverend Barbara Sexton "The Biblical Biochemist-Where Science Meets the Cross"

     Nothing will wipe away the olfactory memories I carry to this day of what I smelled on that sad September 11, 2001.
      Imprinted in my brain is the 'smell' of a mixture of 'the smoke'...of wet concrete dust and some wood...of jet fuel and more smoke.
      I have a 'good nose' as a chemist and always did.  What served me so well while formulating and testing drugs and cosmetics only served to torture me.  Now I know for certain that sometimes ignorance really is bliss.
     We saw the orange glow and the smoke from our vantage point, too.  We viewed it from the land and we viewed it from the water as we cruised at a 'respectful speed' towards the horizon of burning, smoking, glowing, hazy-hot what-used-to-be the WTC area of Manhattan.  Others joined in this 'spontaneous flotilla'--ready to help, accompanied and observed by the Naval and U.S. Coast Guard and other ships in the area.
     In a sense we were all there involuntarily.  We were drawn to the water in order to get as close to 'Ground Zero' as possible for whatever may come after the initial terrible crashes, explosions and collapses.
     All of us were on alert, while at the same time grieving, shaking our heads at the vision unfolding before us.  We could only take in only so much before we slowly headed for port for more grieving, responding and strategizing.
     When a plane flew overhead, whether we were on land or sea, all eyes assessed it anxiously.  Was it ours?  Would it be shot out of the sky?  We were ready for anything by that time and 'up' for it, too.
      Things got much worse fast.  After four or five days the even more ominous odor of death and decay wafted towards the house, over the Sound and smack dab in our direction.  It was so bad by then, that smell creeping opportunistically every time someone dared to open a door or window.  There was no such thing as 'getting some fresh air'.  There was no such thing as 'catching one's breath' after being overcome with emotion.  The air was ropey and foul--thick with heartbreak, anger and fear.
     You'd have to hold you breath between house and car, those of us doing 'community work'.  The air was saturated with the stench of terrorism in a way I shall never forget and I was changed that day.  As the ashes of a beloved sprinkled below a growing plant become a part of that plant, so that stench became a part of all of us, as we breathed those days.  Our skin and hair absorbed it;  there was no escape at all.
     On the day that the odor of decaying human bodies first arrived at our door, I impulsively 'took the day off' and drove up the line.  I had to escape that stench and nothing short of a family emergency would hold me back.
     Me--the one with the 'strong stomach'--I couldn't take it.  All that I'd seen and smelled and experienced over the years meant nothing these first weeks after September 11, 2001. 
     I think it was the persistent and lingering 'jet fuel' bottom note on 'stinker day' that finally made me break down.  I wished I couldn't detect what I could. 
     Today I will tell you something I've never spoken of publicly before.  I knew that this 'new' smell reaching us represented those walking wounded who never reached us at our Stamford Rail Road Station/Stamford Hospital Triage staging area. 
     Steel vaporizes, you know (or so an architect friend told me the day of the attacks).  That's why the two towers 'collapsed' as they did.  I don't know how an architect can know with such certainty a few hours after the attacks that 'there would be no survivors'...but that's what he told me.  I listened to him and was better prepared for what was to come counseling-wise because he was right.
     So that scent of molten, vaporized steel--that was something I'd never smelled before either and you can add that note to the repellent and deadly smell of terrorism those first few weeks after Sept. 11.
     Even as I was 'escaping', I was reviewing likely 'constructs' sure to evolve around the debate of 'whether or not' first responders and survivors of 9/11 would sustain lasting respiratory and other injuries and sequelae.  Shades of 'Agent Orange' debate from years ago when Uncle cruelly rejected victim claims. 
     How much better today that September 11, 2001 claims were not so similarly dismissed, but still, it's been a struggle to see justice meted out so that truly innocent victims can be compensated.
     These are my olfactory memories of those days.  I've auditory, visual, tactile and worse sensory memories I don't completely share, but these are some.

The Bennett Center Cancer Walk, Run and Ride will be held on Sunday June 6th, 2010. The event will begin in Columbus Park proceed east on Main Street, north on Atlantic St across Broad St onto Bedford St, then west on Sixth St, then south on Summer St to Broad St, then east on Broad St, south on Greyrock Place, then west on Tresser Blvd, then north on Atlantic St then west on Main St back into Columbus Park. The Ride will begin at 7:30am, Run begins at 9:00am and walk begins shortly after the run. There will be road closures and traffic delays along the event route.

The event route will be posted TOW-A-WAY ZONE, any questions or problems contact Lieutenant Nicholas Montagnese 203-977-4850.

NATIONAL POLICE WEEK APPRECIATION SHOULD EXTEND THROUGHOUT THE YEAR By Reverend Barbara Sexton "The Biblical Biochemist-Where Science Meets the Cross"

Dear Ones:

     This past week has been NATIONAL POLICE WEEK across our nation.  Read below about this special commemoration and please visit the donation page and contribute whatever you can to help the families of these great heroes.
     Last week as I watched some footage about the Times Square Bomber, I saw some NYPD Personnel with and wearing their 'high-tech gear'.  It occurred to me that these, our protectors, look more and more like 'Star Trek' figures than regular police officers,  as the opponents they must battle today become increasingly more onerous and dangerous.
     Nowadays, the armor and ordnance of the 'LEO' (law enforcement officer) community used all over the U.S.A. are truly more akin to the battle gear of our military.  They HAVE to be in order to wage this 'war on terror'.
     Please, dear Readers, don't celebrate today and forget tomorrow these LEO HEROES who fight to save us all from the evil afoot.  God Bless them and keep them and their loved ones.  I pray that the memories of the fallen serve to instill us with a sense of ETERNAL GRATITUDE for the sacrifice they have made.  May their memories serve to uplift and embolden ALL OF US as we continue in our battle against terrorist cowards who don't even know the meaning of a 'clean fight'.
     I know our fallen LEO HEROES are resting eternally in God's Loving and Safe Presence now.  As we carry ourselves about in our daily lives, each of us knows something in our hearts.  We know that at any time and in any place, we may be forced to 'call upon' the comrades of these fallen heros to SAVE US...AND THEY WILL!  They'll be there, just as their fallen brothers and sisters were there for us.
     For this, we are and will continue to be GRATEFUL!  These fallen LEO HEROES will never be forgotten!
