No way, no how can I sufficiently 'comment' in any comments' section' to a recent link sent to me in response to a piece I did on the Islamic practice of 'Taqiyya', the precept of 'lying when appropriate'. HERE'S MY ORIGINAL ARTICLE: http://dearoneshealingministry.blogspot.com/2010/09/nyc-cordoba-mosque-built-on-taqiyya-by.html which generated this response from'LOGAN': "Found your page very interesting. For sake of hearing all sides of thought on an issue and fairness, you might find the following article worthy of a read:
http://www.alhamdulilah.info/2010/09/taqiyya.html
You better BELIEVE my readers and I want to 'hear all sides of an issue' for the sake of 'fairness'! This is an AMERICAN BLOG! We are open-minded and 'fair', but we will not be taken for fools when our lifestyles and religious beliefs are being bashed before our eyes.
I urge ALHAMDULILAH to give due consideration to my questions and respond to them in English, being sure to 'translate-into-English' and words like 'Dawah' (spreading the message of Islam) and 'Ummah' (I'll let ALHADULILAH define that one and all the others for you, for you!)
If he likes, I'll publish his response and comments HERE or he may do so on his own BLOG...no matter.

FROM REV. BARB:
Logan: Thanks for the link! I just checked it out and have a few comments:
1-First of all, I am systematically studying/restudying Islam and the Qur'an. I am aware of the differences between 'Shia' and Sunni, as are many Americans at this point. We are educating and reeducating ourselves WHOLESALE and soon there will be even more specific questions from scholars far more qualified than myself. I'm just a poor little 'church mouse' and a woman at that...so what do I know? Soon others will have questions you must be prepared to respond to as you attempt to exert yourselves here as you have in France and England.
2-One fault with the article you cite http://www.alhamdulilah.info/2010/09/taqiyya.html are the generalizations the writer makes about non-Muslims and how 'they use taqiyya' to impugn the honesty of 'ALL Muslims and ALL of Islam'. How do YOU know what's in anyone's mind? I don't think the way the author assumes I do and neither do others,in my opinion. Yet the assumption that Americans make 'blanket assumptions' has been made by the author. I have been rather specific with my concerns, actually. And I've never called for the 'hating of all Muslims', God forbid.
3-It is interesting that the author of this article is able to speak for so many Muslims, saying, "By the Shia definition (the one used on websites and by those who wish to attack Islam), Sunni Muslims (over 90% of Muslims) do not believe in taqiyya." Is the author capable of reading minds? Or does the author have such great authority as to impose his will on all Sunnis? Personally, I would never 'presume' to make blanket statements about 'what Christians do or do not do and think'. It would be rather obvious by their WORDS and ACTIONS, just as it is by the 'WORDS AND ACTIONS OF MUSLIMS. Everything Muslims and their 'supporters' do and say are under a microscope and are being examined by thinking, intelligent, freedom-loving Americans.
4-The article is naturally-defensive and this is understandable. Some of you wish to impose your 'lifestyle paradigm' on the United States of America and then you wonder why Americans look askance at you in view of all the terrorist activity we have suffered at the hands of Muslim terrorists. To my way of thinking "making taqiyya' is like being pregnant-YOU EITHER ARE OR YOU ARE NOT. YOUR VERY OWN ACTIONS, BOTH INDIVIDUALLY & COLLECTIVELY WILL LET US ALL KNOW FOR CERTAIN WHETHER YOU ARE EXERCISING YOUR RIGHT TO INVOKE TAQIYYA. Ultimately, we all KNOW when someone is pregnant and we all KNOW when someone is 'bearing false witness' to the United States of America
5-With all due respect, Islam spends an awful lot of time worrying about other religions and non-believers or those who have fallen away (yes, we're learning about these) and what to 'do' with or 'to' them. We realize you do not all agree, but it is up to YOU to settle things amongst yourselves before you can even remotely expect Americans to accept Islam wholesale. Don't bring your hatred and strife here! Protect America from your 'terrorist faction'.In other words, 'clean house', cease with your internal squabbles and stop attracting (or God forbid 'cultivating') those who wish to do violence against Americans.
6-Your actions speak louder than your words. I've yet--through all of this NYC Ground Zero Mosque debate-heard one Muslim express their condolences to us for what America went through on September 11, 2001. I've YET to witness any Muslims CONSOLING AMERICANS on their grief and loss, except to say that, "Muslims died too and Americans need to be more open-minded and tolerant". If you have substantiation of this human gesture which is totally selfless and altruistic with no gain expected for the Muslim community in America, I will be impressed and share it with my readers.
Surely there is goodness in Islam we would want to enthusiastically embrace. If and when we see your good-faith measures towards Americans, we will rejoice. You must show us your good intentions through your own good words and actions. Uplift and encourage me in a spirit of ecumenicism, fellowship and tolerance when I say, "Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior". Do not belittle my belief in 'the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit' but embrace me as a sister in faith.
Before YOU make further demands for 'acceptance and tolerance', tell US how much you honor and respect the Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists, agnostics, etc, in America today. Then prove it by your actions.

You might start by acknowledging and honoring the feelings of the loved ones lost on 9/11, 'man up' and move your planned NYC Ground Zero Mosque somewhere else. Prove to us just how selfless, 'concerned for others', beneficent and loving the Muslim community in America can be!
Prove it by your words...and prove it by your actions.

And God Bless You!
