The Greater the Kindness, the Warmer the Appreciation
By Dee Foster 8 April 2010
When I first started the Prayer Shawl Ministry almost a year ago, I envisioned crocheting shawls that would bring smiles to those who felt hopeless, bring healing to women that were hurting both emotionally and physically. While almost a year has passed, I certainly have not crocheted the number of shawls that I had hoped, but what I have done so far, I am grateful to God that he has allowed me to touch lives with what I have done so far. And with His strength I will crochet even more for years to come.
I can not describe the feeling that I get when I give a prayer shawl to someone. It’s like giving them a piece of myself. Some of my strength or some of my joy that I hope they can grab a hold to when they have none of their own.
I recently received a card from a lady that I created a prayer shawl for. It really moved me and I am grateful to God that He gave me a mind to use my crochet talents to serve others in this way.
I would like to share with you the contents of the card.”
Dear Dee,
I can’t thank you enough for the beautiful prayer shawl – such a jesture of wellness. When I put it around my shoulders, it feels like I am being embraced and hugged by something spiritual. The soft colors are so warm and bring a smile to my face. I thank God for you that you would grace me with such a wonderful gift.
May God bless you always and in ALL ways.
This card just really brings home for me what it really means to live on this earth. Nothing we do should be about us, we should be about our Father’s business always through serving others with the gifts He gave us.
If you have been on the fence about starting a prayers shawl or similiar ministry, decide today to just get started. All it takes is some yarn, a crochet hook and a willing heart along with your prayers.

"AMEN and AMEN!" Truly YOU ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE, DEE!
God Bless you and your family and those many you minister to!
With Love in Christ,
Rev Barb
