I watched as they tenderly, yet firmly, vaccinated scared high-risk children.
I watched as they calmed and consoled nervous parents.
I watched as they provided valuable information and assistance and medical advice...to a variety of this city's residents from very diverse backgrounds.
I watched as they willingly exposed themselves to whatever illnesses people may have, yet never flinching.
I watched as these nurses proved that they are the very best that humankind has to offer--a particular blessing in our world today.
Sure 'angels'--God's messengers-- are created beings different from humans. But the very 'essence' of what nurses do is genuinely 'angelic', yet they are more than just messengers...They are the doers!
For this we are grateful, knowing that no matter what the public health concerns may be, these nurses will be on the front lines to help and to serve. Their dedication is neverending. True heroes, these.
God Bless and protect them at all times,
Amen Reverend Barbara Sexton 11.20.09
