TUTORIAL: AURORAL POWER UP TODAY TO 9.0 FROM 7.0-Feb 15, 2010

Dear Ones:

     Just a note.  The GW (GigaWatt) Power Auroral Input has increased today from 7.0-9.0 GW.

The Kp Index is also UP! If you've been following along with my Tutorials, you know what this means.

The Kp scale/Geomagnetic Storm correlation is as follows:

Kp-index NOAA Space Weather Scale Geomagnetic Storm Level

Kp=5 G1
Kp=6 G2
Kp=7 G3
Kp=8 G4
Kp=9 G5
Kp of 0 to 4 is below storm, which we label is G0.
     Just for curiosity's sake, note that the level of x-rays bombarding earth from the sun is also 'up':

The x-ray level was 'up' even more this past Friday:

     Will we have a Geomagnetic Storm that is substantial?  I don't know, but I will let you know if I think we are.  I don't think the government or anyone else (unless you are close to an Astrophysicist and a Seismologist) will alert you to anything until things are 'well along'.
