Dear Ones:
I believe that people who have a basic understanding of what's going on around them will not be so 'afraid' of events happening, especially those which are out of our control. Therefore, I want to address a few basic concepts regarding the flubbub over all things 2012. Surely by now you've been bombarded by huge amounts of 2012 predictions and wonder what to think about all of it, just as I do.

First, we all basically understand that earthquakes result from shifts in tectonic plates. The earth has a hot, molten core and when it 'acts up', energy is directed towards the surface somewhere on the earth and it 'cracks' as an earthquake.

Then we have a similar situation on the sun, only on the sun, when the energy on the SURFACE "acts up", producing a solar flare, the energy (yes, besides being thrown out into space) is also transferred INWARDLY , thus producing what are known as SUNQUAKES.

Why am I telling you this? It is because the scientific community is convinced that a series of solar flares will occur before and around that infamous December 21, 2012 date. It is predicted that these flares will produce many large SUNQUAKES, which in turn will disrupt the surface of the sun and produce yet more energy-emitting solar flares.

Solar flare energy is measured by all sorts of parameters including proton, electron, 'magnetic field', 'plasma', etc emissions. One does not need to be an astrophysicist to tell from photos and graphs that things are active at this time in history.

Here is what you should bear in mind: Before any major EVENTS occur here on earth, there will be disturbances in SOLAR activity. As long as you have access to a computer, you will be able to prepare for these events. I'm not saying that the earth will be totally devastated, but I AM saying that some of the earth will suffer destruction. So you know, a series of solar events preceded the Haitian earthquakes. And though it's been lost in the translation, there have also recently been substantial earthquakes in California, the Philippines and elsewhere, ALSO due to recent solar history. Noting the trends is very useful for those who are not afraid to know a bit as we live in faith.

Is it time to panic? No. Is it time to be realistic? Yes. Is it time to prepare? Yes. Is all this predicted in Scripture? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!

My Dear Ones, help those who are lost in their understanding of things and introduce them to the Redemptive Power of Jesus Christ. As many mothers and grandmothers and I do, don't you wonder how in the world anyone, young or old, can possibly manage with all the strife in the world without having a spiritual base in life

"18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. If you've never really evangelized before, now is the time to consider it. Share the comfort of your faith and spread that GOOD NEWS. Not only CAN you do it, but you SHOULD do it, no matter what may come on December 21, 2012.

     By now you've heard of the recent (re-)discovery of 70 early Christian 'lead codices' and there is much debate about them.
     The major debate is whether or not they are authentic.
     The other major debate is that, if they are authentic, are they the 'seven seals' referred to in Revelation 6 of the Bible?
     Is their content 'relevant' to current day events?

1 I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come!” 2 I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest."

     Some believe these 'seven seals' are on a single scroll or 'book' which is bound together in a certain order.
     However, it was very difficult to produce volumes of large size in ancient days, for everything had to be literally 'hand-made'. 
     Thus, it is not unusual to see ancient texts 'published' as individual chapters or sections, meant to be read in succession.
     Such could be the case with these 70 codices.
     We must also remember how very dangerous it was...and still is in many places of the world today...to be a Christian believer.
     Even today we are as likely as not to be castigated and mocked for our belief in the Risen Christ, and this even in so-called 'civilized' areas of the modern world.
     Imagine the difficulties early Christians encountered and the methods they must have used to avoid detection, persecution and death!
     They used 'secret symbols', one of which is the well-known fish-shaped 'Ichthys', to identify themselves.
     And they wrote and transported their 'writings' in piece-meal fashion, exactly like these credit-card-sized 'codices' under discussion.
     How much easier it would have been for Christians of old to each carry small portions of larger texts and then read them all together, as desired, during group worship.
     That would lessen the risk of an entire written body of work being confiscated or stolen and would make it much easier to hide that which must be hidden.
     Anyone who carries around a small 'New Testament with the Psalms and Proverbs' understands the desirability of this type of 'portability'.
     Can you imagine going to church today as the 'safekeeper' of  a rare copy of '1 & 2 Thessalonians' so that the entire Bible can be 'reassembled' for use during worship?
     Can you imagine that kind of responsibility, even in our modern age?
      Every and any thing about your little portable treasure, by very definition, would have significance, and, if found, would be 'scrupulously examined' in places where such things are 'forbidden'.
     This naturally brings us back to the subject of some ancient 'booklets' and whether or not they contain the 'seals' in Revelation everyone seems to be talking about....believers and scoffers, alike.
     If there are 70 seals to be broken, we once again have the Biblical tradition of interchanging numbers like 'seven' and  'seven times seven' and 'seventy times seven' and other word plays that God has used to get His points across!
     Commonly used and 'exaggerated or singularly emphasized' numbers in Scripture include 3, 7, 12, 40 and so on, as well as the well-known '666' and others.
     Thus, perhaps the 70 discovered tiny codices series do, indeed, represent the 'seven seals' in the form of seventy different smaller 'booklet's or 'codices', which are intended to be read in some kind of order and which comprise a single large body of work or works.
     Soon enough we'll find out.
     Even the number of 'rings' (three) is intriguing, as well as the apparent number of total 'closures' (looks like twelve or nine in some pictures, below)

     Right now, we don't know.  And we won't know until authentication is completed and scholars get it together enough to allow some fine panel of 'experts' to reveal what these newly discovered 'treasures' hold and tell us.
     One thing is agreed upon regarding these codices, at least.
     There seems to be substantial evidence that the 'books' in question here stem from year one (1 A.D. aka 1 C.E.) and whatever they contain should be interesting to Christians and non-Christians alike.
     At the present time, these codices are in the possession of a Jordanian Bedouin, having been purchased from an Israeli Bedouin.
     Both Israel and Jordon figure prominently in 'end times' eschatology, but the Jordon connection is particularly intriguing to this 'Biblical Biochemist'.
     According to Isaiah 63, the Lord will come from Edom which is in what is known as Jordon today.
     More specifically, the place where the Lord will return will be 'Bozrah' in Edom:
 Isaiah 6

"God’s Day of Vengeance and Redemption

" Who is this coming from Edom, from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson?

Who is this, robed in splendor, striding forward in the greatness of his strength?

“It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.”...

" I trampled the nations in my anger; in my wrath I made them drunk and poured their blood on the ground.”

     The interesting thing about the Isaiah passage above is that it is mirrored in Revelation 19:11-16:
"The Heavenly Warrior Defeats the Beast
11 I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13 He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. “He will rule them with an iron scepter.”[a] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16 On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS."

     Bozrah in Jordon figures prominently in Scripture passages detailing 'the Day of the Lord' and ultimate events and 'Heavenly Appearances' in Jerusalem.
     In Isaiah 34 we read:
"2 The LORD is angry with all nations; his wrath is on all their armies. He will totally destroy[a] them, he will give them over to slaughter."
"6 The sword of the LORD is bathed in blood, it is covered with fat— the blood of lambs and goats, fat from the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Edom."

     'Edom' represents those who are enemies of God.  
     Without overwhelming readers here who are non-believers or who are new to Scripture, here is another reference to 'the Day of the Lord':

8 For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of retribution, to uphold Zion’s cause. 9 Edom’s streams will be turned into pitch, her dust into burning sulfur; her land will become blazing pitch!"

     I'm trying not to 'overwhelm you', dear readers, with so much Scripture that you 'miss the point'.
     But IF the recently found codices are, in fact, bona fide, it is an interesting 'convergence' that their discovery comes out of the land of Jordon which was known in Biblical times under the various names of 'Edom' (including 'Bozrah').
     If you are interested in 'googling' more related to Jordon, look-up: Edom, Ammon, Moab, Isarel/Judah and all things referring to 'Petra'.
     It will be a fascinating exercise for you.
     For now,  true Christian believers scarcely 'need' validation of what we hold as truths due to our faith.
     But academic study, the inevitable media spin-fest and direct observation of world and current events should convince even the most 'stiff-necked scoffers' amongst us that something is afoot worldwide.
     But not everyone will be convinced:
     "The devil doesn't have any 'business' if he doesn't have any followers."
     To that end, let all of us--Christian and Jewish and others so-inclined-- pray for the salvation of all as the time of Revelation approaches.
     Every woman who has ever been pregnant and has delivered a child knows that a time comes when one's body is simply not one's own.
     Once labor begins and birth is imminent, no one can prevent what is to come, for better or for worse.
     And so it will be with the Day of the Lord, and Jesus says so:
"8 All these are the beginning of birth pains."

     We may not know the exact time and place it will occur, but we will have some inkling.
     Those whom God looks upon with favor will be given abundant faith and discernment and will not fear.
     The others, I don't know about except that now is the time for all persons of good faith to spread the Word of the Gospel with great vigor. 
     Whether 'the Day of the Lord' will ultimately be one of joy or terror and tragedy to anyone, only the One who directs our ways and to whom we pray and put our trust in, knows.

BUT WHAT WILL EVENTUALLY DESTROY THE EARTH IF NOT WATER???*

Dear Ones:

     Yes.  Events in Japan and elsewhere ARE just like a 'mini-version' of the movie 2012.

     Yet...all that is happening in the world today is actually written in the Bible!

     At this point in time, needless to say you need to be vigilant if you live in earthquake, flood, tornado, volcano, etc areas.

     And be sure to exercise the good sense the Lord gave you.

     Above all, don't be afraid, for there is nothing any of us can do to 'do away' with what is happening in our world today!

     You may not be able to change the horrifying things occurring around the globe, but you most certainly can change your own reactions to them and your attitude towards past, current and future events.

     If you have never trusted in God before, maybe you'd like to do so now.

     It's your choice, of course.

     An while you're at it, if you've never read the Bible before, maybe you'd like to read that now, as well.

     That way you will at least understand what all the 'holy-rollers' are talking about all around you!

     I recommend that you actually purchase an NIV Study Bible, below, so that you will have it when computer communication is impossible.

     The notes in it will help you in case you are isolated from Christians who might otherwise help you to understand 'it' and 'things' better.

     Of course, ANY Bible version will do in a pinch.  The main point is to GET YOUR HANDS ON ONE NOW AND READ IT!

     Think of the Bible as a 'handbook for your heart and soul', if you will, and one that is a good investment at any price.

     Don't worry if it is all too confusing; NO ONE TRULY UNDERSTANDS ALL THE 'METAPHORICAL PARTS' of Revelation and if they say they do, they are lying, no matter how much of an 'expert' they claim to be.

     The truth is that as far as the Bible is concerned, I like to say to believers, "We've read the book and now we're doing the movie!"

     This is particularly amusing since my 'title' for this article here is 'Just Like The Movie 2012'...but you get the idea I'm trying to get across-kind of a 'chicken-and-egg' metaphor of my own for YOU regarding current events/ 

      Of course, only God knows what He has in mind for us and what His 'timeframe' is.
      The best we can do is try to lead as good lives as possible and live by our faith in Him.

      Once again, the reader is barraged with metaphorical and literary devices which to non-believers sounds like 'nonsense'.

     Anyone with a scintilla of perception and discernment and a genuine desire to learn the truth in good faith, so-to-speak, will recognize riveting 'convergences' between Biblical text and current events.

     If you never have before, 'speak with God' through prayer and ask directly for Guidance.

     Then listen carefully and you will receive it, I promise.

Dear Ones:

        (Note for Newcomers: The Book of Revelation is the last book of the New Testament of the Bible.  Rev 8:6-13 (NIV) means "Revelation chapter 8, verses 6-13, the New International Version which Rev. Barb prefers because it is easily understandable by young and old all over the world.)
     There is no need to be afraid of anything.  But this is definitely a good time to 'get yourself on the road to being saved' if you haven't already done so.  I write this assuming that you may not have that much Bible knowledge, so we'll take it step-by-step, at your own pace.
     Here I provide you with 'my unique version of how to get saved as a Christian' in a simple, easy-to-understand way, without using a 'hard hand'.  Who on earth would want to join a 'religion' that uses threats, taunts, reprimands, coercion, bullying, brutal rules, demands for money and all the other things 'organized religions' (trans: "churches") are so famous for?
     The first followers of Christ who were just regular people and 'seekers' like we are!
     After you absorb what I have to say here, I will provide you with 'the traditional' Scripture passages we Christians use and you can begin some more formal and rigorous 'religious training' if you so choose.
     But the Message of Christ is a simple one...Simple enough, in fact, for a child to understand... and anyone who says otherwise is not being truthful.
     If you are still reading this, certainly you've come so far as to be wondering, at least, what all this Scripture stuff is about and how it relates to life today.
     That's GREAT even if you've been a devout Christian all your life.  No one, ever, cannot benefit from a 'refresher course', a 'reboot', if you will and the Lord rejoices when Believers stand with their 'new' brothers and sisters in Christ.
     I speak to you from my heart and from a unique perspective.  Being born and raised in a Russian family where religion was absolutely forbidden, I was an atheist/agnostic for the first 37 years of my life.  My 'god' was Science. 
     Yet ironically, the more scientific knowledge I gained, the more I came to realize that 'a Grand Designer's Hand' is definitely at work in our universe.
     Life is no 'accident'.  The 'cosmos' is more than just NASA and NOAA and earthquake 'LINKS' and all I'm saying here is that it is a good time to consult the 'ultimate guidebook'--the Holy Bible.
     I've joked that "When these things come to pass, we will have read the Book and now we're 'doing' the movie." 
     We've recently experienced a 'tear' in the earths' geomagnetic sphere, allowing rogue energy, solar and otherwise, to enter and escape said 'hole'.  A ten year old girl just discovered a Super Nova, now possibly existing as a 'black hole'.
     You may have noticed an increase in earthquakes, with new ones occurring in areas previously thought to be 'earthquake-free'.  We've had flooding and and snow on the West Coast of the U.S.A. and hurricanes, tornadoes and storms all over the place.
     Birds are dropping from the skies and we have 'the fish'...all the dying fish everywhere.
     Yes.  Yes, there are 'scientific explanations' for it all, kind of.
     BUT!
     The big 'BUT' is that God has ALWAYS used natural phenomena to 'make His points'!  Archaeological evidence exists that the 'parting of the Red Sea' did indeed happen and was partly due to extraordinary lunar alignments and extreme low tides.
     Egypt's 'plagues'-remarkable by story-telling standards-are now largely explained by natural phenomena ('frogs', locusts',etc)....but oh the timing.
    It's all in the timing.
    And I tell you from the depth of my heart that any of you so inclined to not be part of the world take steps NOW to assure your 'eternal address'.
    1) You do this by asking God for faith, if you think you have none.  PRAY for faith and it will be given to you, I guarantee!  Only God can give us faith, for it is a 'gift'!
    2) Earnestly understand that we humans are all flawed and in need of salvation.  We are all imperfect and perishable.  You, me, all of us.
     3)Turn to God and pledge yourself to Him.  Tell Him earnestly that you BELIEVE in Him.  Humble yourself before Him.
     4) Examine your life and all that is sinful in it...or that you think is sinful...and confess.  Promise God to cease and desist any and all of this sinful behavior and ask God to let you know if you 'missed' anything.  You will immediately start sleeping better at night.  And don't be surprised when you get 'visited' in your dreams as God examines your heart as you sleep.
     5) Start reading or re-reading the Bible and look to 'mainline Christian sources' for specific Bible passages to get you started on your role to salvation.  Read everything you can get your hands on and ask God to guide you to the Truth.  There's no right or wrong way to read the Bible.  Some start with Genesis and read through.  Some start with the New Testament and read through and then back.  Right here we are going to start with a passage relevant to 'current events'.  Choose your own favorite 'translation' based on your own 'market research' or by the recommendation of someone you know and trust.
     6)  Somewhere along the line, get baptized by water by a Christian clergy-person or by any Christian who will to do so for you.  If you have already been baptized by water, ask a minister or even any Christian capable and willing to do so to 'reaffirm' your baptism.  This can be done anywhere, not just in a church and any Christian can do it.  The water need not be from the River Jordon, or anywhere else.  It just needs to be clean and 'consecrated' for Holy use through fervent prayer by the one who is doing the Baptizing.  You needn't be completely immersed, either, just some on the head will suffice.  If anyone questions this, ask them what they say of the 'validity' of the Baptisms we do on preemies in hospital Isolettes baptized with eyedroppers of sterile, consecrated water.  And ask them if those Baptized bedside have 'true Baptism' and you will have you answer.
     7)  After you've earnestly accepted God through Jesus Christ your brother and Savior who died for YOU into your life, confess, be clean, go forth, let the Holy Spirit indwell in you at all times and spread the Good Word (the Message of Christ) yourself.  Don't be surprised if you have some 'demonic' encounters along the way.  'New Christians' are ripe 'pickin's' for a certain amount of time.  Satan WILL try to dissuade you from your new spiritual path.  But rest assured, if confronted with ANYTHING demonic or negative, simply invoke the Power of the Holy Spirit by saying, "HOLY SPIRIT INDWELL IN ME."  To command a demon or anything 'negative' TO GET OUT, say, "I COMMAND YOU TO LEAVE ME IN THE STRONG NAME OF JESUS CHRIST NOW!'.  Doing and saying these things isn't always a picnic at the time, but they work.  And the aftermath leads to incredible things. Again-don't be afraid.  Satan is 'loosed' on the earth, but only has a limited number of bad angels (demons) to harass anyone at any given time.  If you put up a strong fight in God, the bad guys will lose interest and move onto easier pickings.  And, don't forget God sends his (good) Angels to protect you, as well, during times such as this, because there really is a spiritual battle going on.
     8) Watch as your life is enriched in all ways.  You will be a blessing to those around you.  As you grow past the initial learnings as a New Christian, you will educate yourself more and more.  In every area of your life, you will begin to discern God's Hand at work where you never did before.  Prepare to be amazed.
     9)  Pray like it's your job, and then pray some more.  You will want to keep a journal, especially if you are at all troubled by #7--Satan and his minions.
   10)  Enjoy your new found faith and revel in it.  Be joyful.  Don't be afraid of anything except being separated from God, for this is the very 'essence of  HELL'!  Attend a church and worship in fellowship with others.  Remember that no one will see Heaven just by doing good works.  You don't NEED to do 'good works' as a Christian, but you won't be able to help yourself from naturally doing so because the Holy Spirit is IN YOU, alive and well and working!
(Please note that some 'religious groups' such as Baptists and Catholics may not necessarily agree with what I say here due to denominational differences.  If you wish to belong to one of these denominations, then you can take what I say above under advisement and then take the steps necessary in order to become a member of the church of your choice.  As far as I am concerned, I know in my heart that the different denominations are like different 'airlines' with different carriers and passenger lists all headed to the same destination.  The early church was 'one united' (with women playing a prominent part with our Lord, ahem) and I've no doubt that it shall be that way at the end of the world, God be Praised!)
      Now, onto today's Scripture Reading.  At first 'blush', what do these passages mean to you?

Revelation 8            The Trumpets

"6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.
8 The second angel sounded his trumpet, and something like a huge mountain, all ablaze, was thrown into the sea. A third of the sea turned into blood, 9 a third of the living creatures in the sea died, and a third of the ships were destroyed.
10 The third angel sounded his trumpet, and a great star, blazing like a torch, fell from the sky on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water— 11 the name of the star is Wormwood.[a] A third of the waters turned bitter, and many people died from the waters that had become bitter.
12 The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.
