Dear Ones: It was inevitable, I suppose. After weeks of alternately avoiding the subject and tons of obfuscation, the bastions of energized and often angry ones collectively known as the 'OCCUPY WALL STREET' crowd have come clean. They are finally freely admitting and publicly sharing their 'distaste' for any and all things 'Christian', a paradigm now apparently flouted, in this day and age, as a 'last acceptable prejudice'. I call this radical display 'CHRISTIANOPHOBIA'. We live in an 'era' of lexicon, especially on the Internet, where people just love their invectives and this seems to be the latest. Christians make good targets, of course. Attacking 'real' Christians is safe, because you just KNOW they are going to have to forgive you, right? In fact, when I was a uniform-wearing member of The Salvation Army, there were times when a few particularly not-so-passive-but-very aggressive 'donor's would play a game wherein they would 'see how long they could taunt the lady (myself) in the uniform'. Me being me, this was not much of a challenge, save for the fact that I wondered how those so generous with their goods and money could be so very spare with kindness and decency. If nothing else, the experience left me with a resilience I didn't know I had (thank you God in Christ for Your Holy Spirit). And it leaves me 'better able' to tolerate the blatant 'Christianophobia' manifested by so many in the OCCUPY WALL STREET movement. But is this any way for the OCCUPIERS to gain 'sympathy' and 'support' for the OCCUPY movement? I don't think so. Marginalizing and even 'bashing' Christians may be fine 'sport' for the 'young uns' in OWS camps across the nation and around the globe, but really....Is this any way to recruit anyone? Heaven knows, I have never believed a person would want to 'follow' a religion that turns rapidly 'punitive' should the new 'supplicant' prove either unable or unwilling to follow the dictates of a particular religious leader or 'church'. In fact, I am no FAN of organized religion, at all, and prefer to follow the dictates of my Lord Jesus, with the understanding that we all fall short, one way or another. You'll not hear me preaching in the 'holier than thou' mode, for the most part. I always remember that not only was I 'bought at a price', but that for the first 37 years of my life I was a proud atheist/agnostic, myself. However, unlike the OWS OCCUPIERS, I felt no need then, during my 'Godless years' to disparage any religions, being perfectly satisfied with a 'live and let live' philosophy. Maybe 'older age' makes me philosophical and pliable enough to weather things and I may feel no need to 'do' anything, save making this 'simple declaration'. So imagine our consternation to be reminded once again that there is a certain class of persons who--by the very essence of the fact that they are 'endorsed' by people like the Rev. Al Sharpton--are deemed to DESERVE SPECIAL TREATMENT. We heard this from individuals. We heard this from the press in their endless 'editorials' admonishing 'anyone not like themselves' (i.e. conservatives) just how 'in charge' of things they are. HOW DARE ANYONE NOT SANCTION WHAT THIS 'POOR MOTHER' DID? We were reminded that the Progressive Libs of NY and CT have every intention of doing things their way or the highway...their 'way' being the 'high road of moral superiority'. I've understood the 'dynamics' in CT for three decades now and have opined before on my history of 'civil rights' work all through my life up until this 'new age' of 'retribution and pay-back'. I cannot tell a lie and I cannot bear false witness. I cannot endorse what I feel in my soul to be an injustice. I will not champion one 'group' while vilifying another. And I won't be burdened with pseudo-guilt for something I am not responsible for. My philosophy of old age is, "It is what it is and why bother balking the majority while I am clearly in the minority? I can 'live and let live', fully satisfied that the Lord knows TRUE JUSTICE better than any of us humans can even pretend to comprehend-- a philosophy which has allowed situations like that of Rev. Al and the NAACP and Mom Tanya flourish unchallenged for quite some time now. ...Until a few 'little things' FLARED UP, that is. A big OOPSIE occurred for those who championed the cause of Tanya McDowell. She was NOT what she pretended to be. She was NOT an otherwise law-abiding citizen who in one moment of 'desperation' decided to 'steal' an education for her child. No. She was doing some really bad things and actively 'engaged her son' in scenarios revolving around her 'activities' and 'habits'.

So trying to make a 'federal case' over her child's education seems a little opportunistic--even for the likes of the NAACP and Sharpton. It is my opinion that the ONLY victim here is Tanya McDowell's poor little son...and that for having a crook for a mother who is being supported and enabled by a majority population in CT, that majority being the Progressive Libs. But ultimately, these Progressive Libs will be forced to deal with their own inability--in their 'altruistic zeal'--to recognize 'worthy causes' from 'non-worthy causes'. Progressive Libs--like the rest of us--will be held accountable for our thoughts, deeds, words and actions. As usual, I expect the NAACP and the Rev. Al Sharptons of the world to dig their heels in and justify their 'Tanya-McDowell-and-Tawana-Brawley-MOMENTS' as examples of RACISM and moan about all sorts of 'victimhood' at the hands of whoever their latest 'villain' is. So I have some advice for them: Save you breath. We've heard it before a thousand times to the point of boredom. Do a mea culpa if you have the strength of will and moral turpitude to do so. It'll be good for your soul. The very essence of 'the Connecticut paradigm' is a disturbing one, for those looking from the outside 'in'. This is a state which finds itself awash with skewed 'justice', racial inequality, confounded and spurious 'law making' (or attempts of the same) which is causing honest, tax-paying CT citizens a fortune. The following State Rep and State Senate Districts will have special elections on February 22nd to fill vacancies: Senate district 6, covering Berlin, New Britain, and part of Farmington;
Senate district 13, covering Meriden, Middlefield, and parts of Cheshire and Middletown;
Senate district 27, covering parts of Darien and Stamford;
House district 20, covering part of West Hartford;
House district 25, covering part of New Britain;
House district 36, covering the towns of Chester, Deep River, Essex and Haddam;
House district 99, covering part of East Haven;
House district 101, covering the town of Madison and part of Guilford;
House district 126, covering part of Bridgeport. What YOU can do: 1) Help nominate the conservative candidate: The parties have until January 18th to endorse their candidates for the special election. They are going to have caucuses. If you live in one of these towns, contact your Town Committee, any registered member of the party (Republican or Democrat) can vote in that party's caucus. You do NOT need to be a member of the Town Committee to vote in the caucus. If you need your Town Committee Chairman contact information, click here to email me.
2) Volunteer: Special elections are all about turnout. Each campaign is going to need help knocking on doors, making phone calls and getting people to the polls. Plan now to take February 22nd off from work. Even though the 6 House and 3 Senate races may not be in your town, a statewide effort from all tea party people is going to be needed.
3) Donate: Each candidate will still need to raise money in order to qualify for public financing (or, if they are not taking public money, even more so) and there will be a very short period of time to raise the money. Set aside $5, $10, $25, $50 or even $100 now so you are ready to donate. Once the candidates are in place and donation websites are up and running, I will send links for each of them.

He lacks a 'spiritual advisor' as far as the public knows, and his last one was a disaster politically for him. I can understand his being 'wary' of such advisors. And I understand him being wary of his/our former affiliation with the United Church of Christ, the UCC. It's a mish-mash of uber 'if it feels good and raises money, let's do it' theology with little accountability to anyone. But the UCC did provide a 'platform' for President Obama to deliver his first Presidential campaign speech (his/their words) in June of 2007 in Hartford, CT. Trouble is, the UCC is dying on the vine and I don't think they'd take the chance of being accused of 'breaching the line between church and state' again. All things considered, both Mr. Obama and myself are well rid of close association with that group...though I am still, technically, a member and for all we know, he, too, has maintained at least 'associative' status there. Considering the 'kill the white devil' and 'chickens coming home to roost' mentality of Reverend Jeremiah Wright and company, it would be a real shame for our first black president to still be on board with that, don't you think? Surely we are all expecting better of him, this President who claims to 'want to unify', than to embrace 'Black Liberation Theology', right? It is quite possible that Obama is the 'new and improved President Obama'. He may actually have had some understanding of how hateful and hurtful his beloved Chicago Trinity Church's teachings are to anyone 'not like they are'. It could be our President has morphed. If so, he should make amends and 'declare a new spiritual home',based on 'improved counsel'. Be it church or mosque or a place where both reign (such as the UCC), he really should say so. What is there to hide, anyway? Obama knows by now that he is bound to anger many, no matter who or what he chooses, the unenviable position for someone who is so high-profile. But if the President wishes to remain in his 'high-profile position', he needs to come clean with us regarding the church-dealings/events/venues he used so freely last go-round. Indeed, those pesky 2012 elections are coming up and if Barack Obama hopes to avail himself again of that glorious 'worship bully pulpit', he needs to act and act fast. We believers know that at the end of the day, President Obama will be judged just like the rest of us poor slobs, for all he has done and said and not done and left unsaid. Someday he will have to explain how he left the Muslim v. Christian controversy 'float' for so long and what his 'motives' are for doing so. A simple statement would go a long way Mr. President. Alas, we are born alone, we die alone and we will have to account for ourselves--alone. It's true. So I do pray President Obama has or will have the spiritual discernment to make wise choices for himself and his family with that 'free will' the Good Lord gave him. I pray he honors God above all, coming to peace with the uneven and tumultuous cultural and religious exposures he had during his non-traditional childhood. Let our President think for himself, as he will be judged for himself. An honest reflection will reveal that the man who 'used' the church to get elected must now live with the consequences and figure out what 'to do' for 2012. Me--I left the UCC precisely because I got sick and tired of hearing Progressive Lib Democrat politics literally preached from the pulpit during 'worship'. It was especially distressful to me since I was a mute on my political standings. I was a quiet, apolitical moderate-conservative with some liberal social leanings at the time. All was fine with me and the UCC until I expressed my opinions. For such an open and affirming church, they sure live a lie, I quickly learned. But oh what a difference an election cycle or two makes! Now the 2012 elections are looming. This is as good a time as any for anyone running for President to declare their true religious affiliations, if any. The 'eternal and never-ending' controversy about President Obama's 'religion' continues on....endlessly, it seems. But it is interesting that our 'leader' is making the effort to 'clean up' his image a bit. Can it be that the controversy bothers him? Or is it his 'handlers' insisting upon this image-polishing? Can it be that the 'religion controversy' has the potential to harm President Obama's re-election chances in 2012? Can mere 'religion' be that important to American voters? You betchya. For those who are curious, we are not left without at least some clues if we but study the 'comments section' of articles like the one above. Note especially the 'Obama supporters'. The ones who defend him on his controversial religious stance(s) often reject and even revile religion. While it's 'nice' that you are at least verbally expressing something of your 'essential spiritual essence', we pray that it's spoken out of the truth you have in you heart and mind and soul. We pray that your motives for these new spiritual 'disclosure' stems not just from political motive, but from the depths of your being. We pray that you are speaking and doing these things not to please people, but to please God. "To thine own self be true", my Mama always said and she wasn't kidding. We pray that this might be the case with our President. Perhaps the onerous realities and responsibilities of being President of the United States of America has served to chasten and refine. Perhaps Barack Obama is finally able to see past the 'ambitions of Barry the boy' and onto the 'realities of President Obama the man'. Good Christian men and women know how to thank God for all they have and all they are. Maybe our President is as well. Then again, maybe the President was just 'working the Christmas angle' to his political advantage. But what will convince ME of President Obama's true spiritual enlightenment is when he chastises his own enthusiastic supporters. The President needs to tell his own to knock off calling everyone and their uncle ugly names like 'racist, bigot, homophobe, etc. at the drop of the hat. Each time an Obama supporter calls a Tea Party member a 'Tea Bagger', they dishonor only themselves and the President. The Tea Party is strong and resilient. And the world is watching. President Obama has a perfect opportunity this 2011 to redeem himself himself by setting a higher standard for himself, his staff and for all his supporters. But will he avail himself of it? Perhaps President Obama with his 'newfound Christian inclinations' will show us, his United States citizens, some love. Perhaps he will discourage his 'name-callers'. Clean out your 'Potty Mouths', Mr. President. And make sure to do it publicly, so we all can see. Name-calling is silly, anyway. It irritates only for a minute, is ultimately ineffective, bespeaks poorly of the one engaging in it and worst of all, it's the only thing voters will remember about you! Heaven knows there are enough racists, bigots and 'phobes' of all types to go around. Once in a while, though not very often, we are 'gifted' with a public apology from a 'public official'. Such is the case in a recent Washington Post article, detailing this very painful episode in the life of a certain Congressman, Charlie Rangel LINK: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/11/rangel-apologizes-to-supporter.html The actual 'apology letter' can be found here: LINK: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/11/rangel-apologizes-to-supporter.html It's a nice enough apology, a little late, and one can only imagine how heartfelt it may be. One prays that 'it' is not just a public cover for the private regret of 'getting caught'. Maybe we should just take it at face value and leave it at that. We can choose to give Rangel 'the benefit of the doubt' if we want to. Certainly, the rule-of-the-law will be applied, upheld and enforced. Certainly Mr. Rangel will seek to 'reinforce' his apology with timely 'good deeds' and gestures of 'good will' and will encourage his supporter cohorts to do likewise. Right? Yes, it is infuriating to be subject to the politics of corruption. We taxpayers bristle at gross financial abuses just when the economy is so bad for most of us...But there is good to be had here, too. Mr. Rangel in a 'one-man political show' has validated, once and for all, just how necessary the TEA PARTY is at this time in American history. And for that we owe Mr. Rangel a debt of gratitude. We will survive things are they are today with all the political corruption and misuse/mismanagement of taxpayer money. We'll investigate and act and we will be the better for it as a country in the end. Therefore, in truth I would urge us all to simply accept Charlie's apology as it stands. He knows he's under scrutiny, censure and his finances will be checked and checked again, as will those of all of his associates. What more can we want from him? Nothing at all except truthful testimony as things progress. For a guy who couldn't cough up a million dollars recently for his lawyers' fees, it is unlikely that he will be able to actually reimburse his constituents. But there is something he can do for us that doesn't directly involve money. He can 'call to task' those who have 'defended him' with 'purposeful deceit'. Mr. Rangel can tell them to 'cease and desist' and that would mean a lot to many people. He could start, for instance, with columnist Janus Adams, who, in her frantic defense of Charlie Rangel, Maxine Waters and others, chose the path of racial and ethnic divisiveness over clear discussion and fact-finding. In a word, Adams seemed to have 'tweaked'. There are those who have suggested that Ms. Adams played 'the race card', but let me be clear: Ms. Adams played the ENTIRE DECK this go-round with Rangel and Waters. Overtaken by her 'zeal' to see Rangel, Waters and others 'vindicated' (or at least 'left alone), Janus finally had the 'big one' and did it publicly, no less. Maybe she will realize that she denigrates and 'speaks down to' those who consider themselves her 'fans' when she reduces 'political, financial and ethical corruption' to nothing more than a matter of skin color. This is so very hurtful and unfair to others, especially to the children and grandchildren Janus might 'counsel'. ALL children and grandchildren deserve to be relieved of racial falsehoods and derision and arguments of same promulgated by an obviously inflamed Ms. Adams. Where is her 'inner censor'? Perhaps Mr. Rangel will bring some understanding to Ms. Adams. He can point out that he APOLOGIZED. He can impress upon her the benefits of moving into a 21st century racial paradigm. I understand that Ms. Adams' rage and indignation at 'the Charlie Rangel situation' is compounded by recent reports about Maxine Waters as well. Dear Readers: Okay, I admit it. I just had a little fun today. Well...a LOT of fun, actually. I posted a comment on 'CT Bob's' blog under his article entitled"It's nearly official: Malloy Wins!" You'll have to scroll down for it, but it's worth it. Typically, my 'comments' tend to lead to more questions than answers and often come with 'uncomfortable links' for some.
In fact, my comments or lack of same can often lead to some fearsome disclosure of unwelcome information for the Progressive-Lib Dems. They don't like that and turn to personal attacks, which is the nature of true 'bullies', whom we forgive for not knowing any better,of course.
No matter, that is why God invented 'blogs' so that people such as myself have a platform to say what we want to...within the bounds of what my faith allows...As well as within the bounds of the very jurisprudence so many tend to ignore and wish 'away', a tactic which will not work this go-round. My very first foray into 'political activism' culminated in an abysmal loss for TEA PARTY-endorsed candidates in Connecticut, but not elsewhere. Nationally, we had A BIG WIN! So all-in-all it was a terrific day! From Day 1, we knew that Connecticut would be a 'tough nutmeg to crack'. Considering how 'miserably marginal' many of the Progressive-Lib Dems' 'wins' were, I'd say we've made major progress nationally even in uber-liberal areas, so it's all good! Poor President Obama, tail between his legs, tried to 'reach out' as he hasn't before. The guy looks relieved, truth to tell, like someone who is almost glad that he can acknowledge he's 'in over his head'. And no doubt, our President is surrounded by synchophants who are ALSO IN OVER THEIR heads--like the Election officials in Bridgeport, Connecticut! Hard as it is to believe, these people failed to have a sufficient number of ballots for registered voters yesterday! Surely, these incompetents leave the following questions to be answered: Why were so few ballots ordered, as claimed? Who came up with the original 'order number' and how did they come up with it? Were so few ballots actually ordered or is that just the claim? If the full amount of ballots were ordered, was the surplus hidden or stored and if so, where...or were they destroyed? Were so few ballots DELIBERATELY ordered so as to create an irregularity at Bridgeport voting places? Were any of the 'photocopied emergency ballots' pre-marked and if so, by whom and when and where? Who are those responsible for the dearth of ballots? What are their political affiliations? Who are they working for? When was the ballot-shortage discovered? Was it acted upon promptly? Obviously this is not a comprehensive list of questions, but perhaps Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch will step up to the plate and initiate a thorough and ethical investigation. Yesterday was interesting in Stamford, too. For the first time ever, I served as a 'Runner' at a local polling place. A 'Runner' is legally designated to 'collect data from a polling place'. My little BlackBerry in hand, I essentially entered voter numbers all day long. I found many discrepancies, inconsistencies and inaccuracies, which I cannot discuss here. It is any one's guess what these discrepancies, inaccuracies and inconsistencies mean, but better brains than my own will be looking into all of them. I'm 'good' with bulk data because I enjoy handling it. And I enjoy the 'pressure to perform' for a good cause. Still, my responsibility was only to cross names off a list of registered voters. But little did I know that my 'exercise' was destined to turn into much more. Within two hours of the beginning of my data collection, the 'BIG BOOK LADY' balked at the Moderator asking her to 'check things' at my request regarding the 'discrepancies, inaccuracies and inconsistencies' I refer to above. After a lengthy discussion, I was told that it was 'no one's province' to provide any clarification of the input data they were obliged by law to provide to 'us', or to 'me in particular', as an official 'runner'. I don't know if that's true, but it was 'slow' at the time and it would have been a simple matter to look up a few more numbers and names for me so that my records could be reconciled...and so I would 'shut up'. In no uncertain terms, the 'BIG BOOK LADY' let me know that I was annoying her. Yep, the 'BIG BOOK LADY' and her cohorts were clearly not going to be bothered, whereupon two hours into my endeavor, I simply declared, "OKAY, I'll collect my slips, enter what I can and in the case of more than one voter for a number, enter the FIRST-alphabetically-by default-and let it all be examined afterwards." And that's precisely what I did until 8:00 pm when the polls closed. A colleague of mine who monitored the situation first hand the entire time argued about 'it not doing any good after the fact' (to reconcile the data). How true, how true. But as a 'Runner' and a 'political newbie', I decided to just collect my data like a good girl and let the waves roll as they may afterwards. By the end of the day, the 'BIG BOOK LADY' and her cohorts wouldn't even talk to me. So much for our political officials being unbiased and non-partisan. It would have been so easy to take a few moments to help reconcile some data, but no, there was no interest in doing that. In all fairness I have to say that the Moderator under whom I worked at my assigned polling place is a good guy. He did his best to accommodate me, at first, with understanding for the need to answer my questions. But, alas, the Moderator, too, was subject to the vagaries of the 'BIG BOOK LADY' and I easily decided to not make the fellow's life any more difficult than it already was. This is only politics, after all. I'm sure you readers can appreciate the irony, then, that I was subjected to having just dealt with 'THE BIG BOOK LADY' and her cronies as I drove over to the Foley Event at the Greenwich Hyatt on election night. It was then that I got my first hint of the problems in Bridgeport with their apparent 'shortage of paper ballots' in a radio report. As I drove along, I heard that many polling places in Bridgeport were going to stay open until 10:00 pm. I wondered 'how the heck this ballot shortage could happen?' but after what I'd witnessed first-hand here in Stamford, I really was not at all surprised about the Bridgeport situation. Sure people deserve to vote. But any 'Registrar of Voters' who screws up THAT badly is suspect in my book. Lack of cooperation, partisanship and 'dislike' of others not like themselves is something I understand about election officials and accept it for what it is. But the Bridgeport situation is a whole different kettle of fish. The TEA PARTY lost big in Connecticut, but nationally we kicked butt. Reports at this moment state that "Dannel Malloy is the winner in the CT Gubernatorial Race and a recount will not be necessary". It's good to know that the Progressive-Lib Dems have such a superior knowledge about 'what will or will not need to be recounted', even before the final count is actually completed. Is this 'super-intelligent and legitimate data handling', 'wishful thinking' or 'something else'? Do we have the right to ask such questions or will the 'Lady with the 'Big Book' once again ball her pudgy little hands into tight fists saying "ENOUGH! IT'S NOT MY JOB!". Will the CT Secretary of State tell us the WE ARE NOT ALLOWED A RECOUNT? Will the MALLOY CAMPAIGN stand in the way of one? Will we be told to GO AWAY? Well, we're NOT going away. We HAVE taken over the house. Things WILL be different nationally and locally. We won BIG this election cycle and it WAS a referendum on President Obama and the Democrats. Best of all WE FIRED NANCY PELOSI! YAY!!!!!!!! But Connecticut is Connecticut, after all, and that means it's 'Progressive-Lib-ville' and will stay so for a while it seems. But that's okay because 2012 is around the corner. I hope Dannel Malloy enjoys his marginal 'win'...if it is a win at the end of the sure-to-come investigative process' and I hope the Progressive-Lib Dems are proud of themselves. They did it! They rule the teeney 'Nutmeg Isle' and I suggest their first order of business after their gloating settles down be the installation of a 'TEA PARTY REPUBLICAN TSUNAMI WARNING SYSTEM'. They'll need it starting immediately and especially for 2012. They'll never get it up in time with their organizational paradigm, but it will be interesting to watch them try. Sad for them that the Democrats are brutally DIVIDED in Connecticut as they are all over the U.S.A. We all know that 'a house divided against itself will not stand'. And if the MALLOY CAMP has any class at all, it will be DEMANDING A RECOUNT themselves, though I won't hold my breath for that likely non-eventuality. Maybe I'm naive, but I would want to know that the candidate I supported won 'fair and square'. 'What say you, Malloy supporters?' Anyway, yesterday provided me with a great costume idea for Halloween. Next year I'll have a new costume that is destined to scare adults and kids alike when I dress up as 'THE BIG BOOK LADY'! My white knuckled fists clenched in defiance, I will scare the DICKENS out of young and old alike! Aaarrrrgggggghhhhh! HERE SHE COMES!!!!!!!!!!!!! All joking aside, I pray that God will Bless All our duly Elected Officials, our Candidates, their teams, the electorate and the constituency.
