     Well, I don't know about any 'major' Muslim leaders, but I count one Muslim 'group' 'locally', at least, who has spoken up against the horrendous anti-American violence flaring up in the Middle East and all over the world.
     That 'one group' is 'The Muslim Coalition of Connecticut'.  I thank them for speaking forth:

     Rather than emphasize the many 'negatives' about President Obama's response to and his 'handling of' the embassy killings in Libya, I will take a different course here.
     I praise our up and coming 'President Mitt Romney'.
     I laud him for his appropriate, honorable and COURAGEOUS comments--amidst a sea of Progressive Liberal 'nay-sayers'--about the terrible PLANNED attacks on Ambassador Chris Stevens and others at United States embassies around the world.
     Here in 'liberal Connecticut', as elsewhere, I urge all peoples of 'good faith'....those who love America and those who seek to work for true JUSTICE...to have the COURAGE OF THEIR CONVICTIONS and thus vow to protect this United States of America.
     We cannot ignore obvious truths.
     It is time to wake up...and it is time to pray, as we seek to avoid violence whenever and wherever possible.

"All that pious religious bulls--t he spews…at the end of the day, that’s not him. That’s what his parents and his pastors have drilled into his head from the day he was born. The kid doesn’t even know who he really is.      Oh, boy.  We will need a lot of healing here, as we consider the simple question:
     Is Tim Tebow gay?

     I feel this is his business, but anti-Christian bigots' are attacking poor Tim for his Christianity by attempting to 'out' him online.

     I wonder what 'Hammerman Jews' have to say about about this?

     Do they believe it will 'help' their 'gay marriage industry' somehow?

     This seems like pretty poor treatment at the hands of the LGBT community of 'one of their own', if their assertions are correct about Tebow.

     But I believe (hope) these LGBT Christianophobes are relatively few in number and are merely 'guessing' about Tim's sexual orientation, which they are using as justification to taunt and be cruel to him as only they can be to their 'own'.

     I've seen something akin to this before in churches--gays attempting to 'out' closeted gays in order to fatten their ranks for one socio-political reason or others--thinking this was 'okay'.

     Well, it wasn't okay and some people needed to be protected.

     And this public bullying is over the top, in my opinion.

     Just Google: 'Is Tim Tebow gay?' and see just how prevalent this 'Tebow outing phenomenon' has become, especially since the Rabbi Hammerman 'Tebow-knocking' article originally came out on Dec. 12, 2011

     Coincidence?  I don't know.

     But circumstantially, at least,  it looks like Tim's 'outing' by the LGBT community is intended to serve as his 'punishment' for being 'too religious'.

     This is horrible.  And while I feel sorry for decent gays who do NOT engage in this type of thing with their brothers and sisters IN the religious community...and outside of it...I also believe it is incumbent upon them to make things right-

     So if today's economic news has you down...if you are unemployed, still or again...if you are disgusted by what passes as 'acceptable' in places like Syria where the American Flag is burned and desecrated as so much trash....Just keep on keeping on with whatever you are doing with your fellow Progressive Liberal cohorts.

     But Heaven forbid you should THINK AND MAKE JUDGEMENTS for YOURSELVES!  The libs currently in power wouldn't LIKE that, would they?

     But if you've HAD IT, go to the Greenwich-Stamford TEA PARTY PATRIOTS meeting TONIGHT, details above.

     YOU can make a difference!

     YOU can stop the financial hemorrhaging of our fine country with it's ridiculous and dangerous political course under the leadership of the current administration.

     You can just 'sit there' and believe all the 'global village hyperbole', while Chicago suffers Arizona burns and Connecticut goes bankrupt...Why should YOU care?

"Please Join Me In Prayer For FCC Stamford Right Now" By Reverend Barbara Sexton 'Dear Ones Healing Ministry'

Dear Ones:
     I hardly ever ask you for a very personal prayer, but I must now.
     Please pray for my church FCC Stamford (The First Congregational Church of Stamford CT).
     This is the 'church that founded Stamford'.
     This is the church that celebrated 'the first Thanksgiving', right here in New England with the Native Americans...both of whom I love so much.
     FCC Stamford was 'gathered' in 1635 and that has to count for something.
     But now it is literally at risk of total collapse.
     This is the church that was 'right and ready' at old 'Fort Stamford' to meet the needs of the people, so many years ago.
     Yet here, today, we are 'at each others' throats' over base things like politics, gay rights, power and money.
     Truly, we are in trouble and I am putting a call out for all 'prayer warriors' everywhere in the world to petition God on behalf of our church so that we do not fail due to human shortcomings.
     Yesterday, our pastor The Rev. Dr. Cari Jackson RESIGNED suddenly and abruptly, without any notice and she left the church in a state of crisis.

     Help us all remember that you are the mother of our Risen Lord.
     Help us all remember to cast aside Christian denominational differences,

     And that's GOOD....isn't it?
     I, for one,  'wish' that Dan would use his ever-increasing outreach to the Muslim community to address THE GROSS PERPETUATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS AND PERPETUALLY INCREASING VIOLENCE of Muslims against Christians and Jews all over the world, especially in Pakistan, Egypt, Libya and Syria.
     It would be nice if Malloy would have a care for the treatment of WOMEN in Syed's Pakistan and other areas of the world where male Islamodominance prevails.
     But for now we are content to just 'get out the word' and  have as many people as possible watch the video above so that they can draw their own conclusions, since in this day and age, we can hardly believe what our leaders tell us anyway.
     Witness the recent killing of Bin Laden, with it's myriad of twists and story-telling, and fabrications and nonsense proffered forth by a W.H. spokesman barely old enough to shave.
     Good luck getting at the the truth anymore, but that's what happens when political callings are at stake in the rough and tumble business known as American politics.
     The truth becomes fungible.
     Freedom and freedom of speech is variable and is no longer a 'right' in America today.

     John's mother Margaret Thomas was a beloved life-long member of FCC Stamford (also known as 'The First Congregational Church of Stamford') long-remembered for her stalwart faithfulness to our church and it's members, as well as for her 'forward-looking' personal theology embraced by the UCC-at-large.

     Margaret was ever-proud of the influence her son John had for decades on not only our local church, but internationally, as well...heady influence, indeed.
     This is not to say that all of us at FCC Stamford agreed with her and her son's convictions, for we did not.  Nevertheless, we kept tithing in good and with good faith.
     A handful of us would have no part of violation of our second amendment (gun) rights, Black Liberation Theology, politicking in the Sanctuary during Worship Services, blanket right to abortion at all stages, including late-term abortion, comprehensive 'blessing' and 'performance' of same-sex marriages in church Sanctuaries, and--a real sticking point for me: the severe anti-Israel, anti-Semitic sentiment of John Thomas and the UCC-at-large.

     The few of us balked and still do at various UCC 'resolutions' and 'statements' and refused to 'sign onto' a number of them.  But none of that matters anymore, for the precepts above are now fully ingrained into the UCC and FCC in Connecticut and the rest of the country.  
     What does matter, though, is the IMPACT the Thomas church and theology currently has on the citizens here in Southwestern CT and specifically in Stamford!
     Today's FCC Stamford's 'relatively new' pastor Rev. Cari Jackson feeds the flames of the Progressive Lib church culture in the church that John Thomas hails from. 
     Jackson furthers what Thomas planted and fomented over the decades of his life here in Southwestern Connecticut.    
     And this same church has increasing involvement with The Interfaith Council of Southwestern Connecticut and The Rev. Kate Heichler, Rabbi Josh Hammerman and others who 'speak for and represent' the 'faith community'.

     As a TEA PARTY PATRIOT in Progressive Lib Connecticut, I wonder if anyone is looking out for TAXPAYER MONEY with Mayor Pavia's newly-established 'Multicultural Council'?
     Have all the 'religious parties involved' with this new council been properly 'vetted'?
     I've written before about my concern's for pro-Muslim sentiment generated in Southwestern Connecticut. 
     And with this piece, I am taking us all 'out of our comfort zones' to address a very real example of the foolishness of mixing 'politics and religion'.
     It will be interesting to see if the 'John Thomas Scandal' so in the tradition of Swaggart, Bakker, Long and company ultimately impels the probably well-intentioned-though-perpetually-misguided Interfaith Council of SW CT to 'straighten up and fly right'.
     Money talks when all good persuasions cannot.  It is not the root of all evil, but the love of money most certainly is.
     Let that 'love' be looked into on behalf of TAXPAYERS all over the United States, especially when it comes to 'religious types' preaching 'politics from the pulpit'.
     It's the right thing to do and will lessen the possibility that good people will be taken advantage of by those like John Thomas and the ones over whom his vast influence extends.

     I thank God that Margaret was 'spared witness' of the downfall of her son, but truly he has fooled us all.

     Once in a while we are blessed with a heart-warming story of GOOD TRIUMPHING OVER EVIL.  No matter what our spiritual backgrounds may or may not be, all people of GOOD WILL rejoice over this young Afghan woman's story.
     Many people (famous and rich politicians and hollywood types now, largely) are now involved and are to be thanked and praised for the help they have given this young woman whom we've all heard about for a while now. 
     But unlike those with boots on the floor in Afghanistan, some of THESE are 'johnnycomelatelies'.

"Bibi Aisha arrived at our shelter on November 15, 2009. She was sold at the age of 10 by her father to a married man, a Talib. He kept her in the stable with the animals until she was 12 (when she got her first menstrual period). At the age of 12 he married her. From the day that she arrived in his house, she was beaten regularly by this man and his family. Sometimes she was beaten so badly that she couldn’t get up for days. Six months ago before she came to us, she was beaten so badly by her husband that she thought that she was going to die. She ran away and went to the neighbor’s house. The neighbor took to her to the police.  

Since Uruzgan doesn’t have a women’s prison, the police took her to Kandahar and kept her in jail because she had run away from home.

She spent four months in the Kandahar women’s prison. After four months, her father came and took her out of prison. He took her back to Uruzgan and gave her back to her husband.

Her husband once more beat her to the brink of death, and then he cut her nose and ears off. He did this because she had brought shame to the family by running away. Then he took her to the mountains and left her there to die. She was rescued by the U.S forces. They kept her in the military clinic for 2 months until her wounds healed. Almost everyday, her father came to the American base and wanted to take her back with him."

     THIS is 'SHARIA LAW' in action. 
     THIS TYPE OF MUTILATION occurs in Islamic countries such as PAKISTAN and AFGHANISTAN...and in IRAN and elsewhere, as well. 
     It even occurs in so-called 'civilized countries', too...though no one wants to acknowledge or talk about it.
     Considering how ENDEMIC the spread of SHARIA-TALIBAN MENTALITY has become in the World today, including in the WEST, we do well to take note of ABOMINATIONS such as those perpetuated against AISHA.

     I would ask ALL who attend, witness or even just 'hear of' these events be aware of what is going on in their neighborhoods and in their communities. CLAIMS THAT DON’T MATCH-UP

Dannel Malloy has said a lot of things in his ads and on the campaign trail that just don’t add up, including many statements he made at a debate with Tom Foley on Friday:

Personnel Cuts: In his TV ad, Malloy says he will cut the size of the governor’s staff by 15%. When informed that would equal less than five full time positions, he said in a debate on Friday that he meant 15% of the whole executive branch. Well that would be about 7,500 jobs. Is that really what he meant? He says in the same ad that he will cut state agencies by 30%, but he doesn’t say if he will eliminate them or just consolidate them which wouldn’t result in any savings. Meantime, in the last ten days he has proposed two new government agencies to oversee harbor development and Bradley Airport. So is he eliminating agencies or creating new ones?

Taxes: In his TV ad, Malloy says he “held down taxes” as mayor of Stamford. But the Hartford Courant and other news organizations have reported taxes went up every year Dannel Malloy was in office and increased overall nearly 80%. Does anyone other than Dannel think that is holding down taxes?


Spending: Dannel Malloy says he thinks the state budget needs to be cut, but on the campaign trail he has committed to at least $500 million of new spending.


Jobs: Dannel Malloy says he created 5,000 jobs while mayor of Stamford, but the Hartford Courant, quoting the state Department of Labor, says Stamford lost more than 13,000 jobs from 2000-2009 and more than 7,000 jobs from 1996-2009, his full term as mayor. So just when exactly did Dannel create these jobs? On Friday, he conceded Stamford has lost jobs, but now he says it wasn’t his fault.

Education: Dannel Malloy claims Stamford has a top ranked school system, but test results from the state Department of Education show Stamford has the biggest achievement gap of any city in Connecticut and that only 37% of its 10th grade public school students are performing at grade level. Exactly who gave Stamford schools their supposed top ranking?


Death Penalty: Dannel Malloy has been consistently against the death penalty and acknowledged that the death penalty would likely be abolished if he is elected. On Friday he said the defendants in the Petit murder case would be put to death even if he signed a law to abolish the death penalty. As a lawyer and former prosecutor, he should know better. A statute abolishing the death penalty, even if it excluded the Petit murderers, would almost certainly give them a solid legal case for overturning their death sentence.


Tolls: Dannel Malloy said in a speech last week that he supported tolls to pay for the completion of Route 11. So this is two new state agencies, $500 million of new spending, and a new tax from Dannel Malloy in just a few weeks. Is anyone checking to see if all of this really adds up?


“Dannel Malloy has established a record in this campaign of making unrealistic promises, being loose with the facts, and then flip-flopping when called on it,” said Justin Clark, campaign manager for Tom Foley for Governor. “Connecticut needs leadership that works with real information, doesn’t over promise, and is truthful with voters. Dannel Malloy isn’t meeting that standard.”

Dear Readers:

     Once in a while history does, indeed, repeat itself.  On the steps of a church, the First Congregational Church (FCC) of Stamford, a recent pro-NYC Ground ZERO Mosque/pro-Muslim 'prayer vigil' has seemingly turned back the hands-of-time.

     I am reminded of the days when men had their heads lopped off and women (not quite deserving of such a rapid and clean death) were stoned to death BY FCC CHURCH OFFICIALS (and in other UCC Churches, as well) all over the country years ago. 

     This FCC Church has a RICH AND COLORFUL HISTORY of clapping people in 'stocks' and drowning and burning not a few 'witches'.  The 'color' of that 'history' is red--the color of innocent blood.

     Back when I was STILL PROUD of FCC Stamford, we ALL tried to accentuate the positives of our church history (the abolitionist history helping the Underground Railroad, for instance and trail-blazing work on civil and womens' rights and GLBT ONA/inclusion before it was in-EVERY ONE'S FACE and not 'bullying', aggressive and intolerant as it is now)  
     In fact, many of us go way-back to the civil rights activism of our youth, completely engaged and convicted of the kind of change we could all believe in.  We may not have 'trusted anyone over 30', but we did, at least, have a very real and open transparency.

     But the 'BAD church legacy'...well, THAT we tried to push aside and relegate to the annals of history, never to be repeated again by anyone related to THAT hallowed old church, oh no.

     All those old and awful church deeds done back then were at the directive of the Pastor-in-power at the time. Not much is different today, except for the fact that the Pastor is a woman and a lawyer and a proud lesbian at that.  Isn't America grand?

     Not one to rest on her laurels, our Pastor Carrietta Jackson, Esq. here has decided to take on ONE BIG CHALLENGE, we see.  She, along with the church body--presumably-- has adopted a new role as 'the hub' of pro-Muslim, pro-Mosque promotion in the Stamford area.

     Along with the Interfaith Council of Southwestern CT, Pastor Carrie 'LAWYERED UP' those Walton Place church steps, but good.  Out of the abundance of goodness and compassion of my heart, I will allow the benefit of the POSSIBILITY that she actually didn't REALIZE just WHOM she was allowing to TRUMPET on the steps of her church edifice, but who knows?
     She, a Christian and a  lawyer purveying and protecting the laws 'fulfilled in Christ', as well as the laws of the United States of America and of the states she is licensed to practice in was there with Rabbi Josh Hammerman, who spoke forth as purveyor of the 613 Laws of Moses.
     Accompanying them was Midhat H. Syed, Stamford's own Sharia lawyer promulgating and protecting  whatever he was promulgating and protecting  on those dusty old stone church steps.  Read below about Sharia Law and see if you can guess, since, to-date, no one's saying.

     Perhaps someone from the Stamford 'rally' will fill us in here before the next event at the North Congregational Church (a UCC church, like FCC Stamford), whenever it will be.  I understand the wish to promote 'interfaith awareness and cooperation'. 
     But it cannot really be true to ANYONE'S religion--Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, etc, etc.--when the 'Sharia law aspect of all Islam' is ignored. 
     All that does is hoodwink everyone who doesn't take the time and care to take a 'second look' at all this.

     I just wonder how much Cari Jackson knew what 'all' she was 'allowing' to go on.  Did she know?  Did she care?  It strikes me as 'unlikely' that she'd do anything at all without careful deliberation, but who knows?

     It  just could be that her old rebellious streak--against many things American and all things masculine--took up residence in that place of her heart reserved for acts of uncivil disobedience and she just let loose without regard for the implications of 'giving a Shari'a lawyer' a platform from which to trumpet his ideologies.
     There are more 'contradictions' and inanities here than meet the eye at first glance.  Consider the other COUNTRIES represented at this FCC pro-Muslim/pro-NYC GROUND ZERO Mosque rally in Stamford, for instance. 
     One of the countries 'reresented' is Pakistan.  You hardly need a tutorial on US-Pakistani relations, but the recent massive flooding has prompted many of us in the faith community to appeal for 'the prayers of all peoples'.  One cannot be considered to be a sentient human being without being gut-wrenchingly affected by suffering and human tragedy on such a level. (Good timing, this, as we reflect upon the anniversary of the U.S.'s own Hurricane Katrina)
     Yet-back to Pakistan-on the heels of numerous (mine included) public 'shout-outs' for prayer and assistance (I PUSHED for Uncle to send the Chinooks, 'politics be damned'!).  Then--as if God was exercising His rather Magnanimous Sense Of HUMOR...The Pakistani Taliban threatens that 'anyone attempting to supply aid will be killed or suppressed or whatever it is that Sharia law calls for in cases like that.
     For most Americans, well-intentioned as we are,  far too many aspects of militant Sharia-Compliant Islamic cultures defy understanding.  Supporting regimes and mentalities like this are simply anathema to the many of us in the 'free world' today.  Yet, here we are with this spate of 'pro-Muslim/pro NYC Ground Zero Mosque' rallies, with more to come, and all I can do is ask, "WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON?"
     Anyone who can, please let me know.  Best of all, I'd like to hear one of the participants referred to here OPEN UP and let us know what their real agenda is.

     Please, someone, what's going on?  If Pastor Cari Jackson, the Interfaith Council, Reverend Katie Heichler, Rabbi Josh Hammerman, et. al. are so 'up' with human rights (especially with those of ever-oppressed womankind), they MUST have some kind of 'deal' going with Midhat Syed, Esq. and his Sharia law practice.  I, for one, had NO IDEA that Shari'a law was so very FLEXIBLE and TOLERANT of Christians and Jews and our 'USA legal system', did you?  Is this a different kind of Sharia law from the one we hear about in the news? 
       I always thought that Sharia law is above all a 'religious code' which supersedes any and all other codes of law, both religious and secular.  I applaud Rev. Cari's open mindedness in embracing Sharia law even if it does seem kind of odd considering that she is a female.  Oh, the times are a-changing.

     I had no idea that Sharia law was EVEN PRACTICED in Stamford, let alone that it's world-renowned global practitioners are so very OPEN-MINDED of others who are 'different' in our little city of Stamford.  I applaud that! 
    It is good to see that two female Christians can be hosts and ring-leaders to devout Sharia-compliant Muslim men allowing them to plight their cases on church property.  THIS is the kind of religious cooperation I have longed to see for so long!
     Still, I am NO FAN of the NYC Ground Zero Mosque and the way everything related to it is being so manipulative and convoluted and downright insensitive to all who suffered as a result of the terrorism of September 11, 2001.  It ought to be a simple thing to answer any and all questions regarding any mosque building if one is WILLING TO DO SO in a spirit of OPENNESS and HONESTY, no?.

     The August 24, 2010 pro-Muslim/pro-NYC Ground Zero Mosque 'prayer vigil' also reminds me of how just how much some people would like to wipe ISRAEL and all JEWS off the face of the map. 
     I don't know..maybe someone can better 'educate me' about Sharia law as it is practiced in Stamford these days, especially since it's proponents are preaching on MY once-beloved church steps.  If this is an effort to make America fully SHARIA-COMPLIANT as many other countries are, I sure would like to know about it. 
     I wish the Stamford Advocate or someone would interview the Muslim Sharia law advocates here in Southwestern CT and have them tell us directly just how well we can all get along as citizens of the United States of America.   I say 'citizens' for I simply cannot believe that the Reverend Dr. Cari Jackson would allow anyone BUT legal American citizens (or those here legally with appropriate paperwork) to preach as they have....would she?
     Anyway, if there's a change in the wind, I WELCOME IT.  I look at even 'neutrally-minded' countries like Switzerland banning the building of 'Muslim minarets' because of the unrest that they propagate and wonder how such a 'minor thing as that' can mean so much to non-Muslims.
     I'm hopeful--but I'm not holding my breath--that any of the goings-on at FCC Stamford will be explained to us soon and the issues I raise addressed. 
     But considering that the FCC Stamford is a UCC (United Church of Christ) which brought us Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Reverend Otis Moss, Father Pfleger and their attendant intolerant philosophies, I really shouldn't be surprised at ANYTHING, at all, being promoted in those hallowed halls or on their weathered steps.

Recession and depression, falling stock prices and soaring unemployment rates foreclosures and bankruptcies, – the grave economic crisis that our nation faces brings with it little good news. The Survey of Professional Forecasters, the oldest quarterly survey of macroeconomic forecasts in the United States, tells us we are in for more of the same. Released in May 2009, the survey’s projections indicate higher job loss numbers and continued contraction of economic activity.
Such gloom and doom threatens more than our financial stability. Houses of worship are reporting a decrease in donations. The American Heart Association sent a news release in May 2009 outlining how the economic downturn, unemployment and money losses are impacting people’s ability to take care of their health. Canceling gym memberships, skipping dental examinations and scrimping on fresh fruits and vegetables are some of the changes people are making to accommodate the bad economy, perhaps not realizing the negative effects on their health. Additionally, crisis hotlines, suicide prevention and counseling call centers report a dramatic increase in traffic as economic stress exacerbates mental and emotional stress. In spring of 2009 one such outlet, the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, reported a call increase of more than 100% compared to the same time last year.

While none of us might be calling suicide hotlines, nor have most of us lost billions in investments, many of us are feeling a pinch in some areas of our lives. Such discomfort might make us wonder what will prevent further deterioration and stem more negative repercussions. As Muslims, we turn to our spirituality and religion for answers. Here we find we have certain benefits. “One of the clear advantages to the Islamic perspective is the concept of being people of the middle path,” said Charles Faisel Whatley, a Muslim economist. Mr. Whatley is the Director of Commerce and Entrepreneurship at the Atlanta Development Authority, the economic development agent implementing Mayor Shirley Franklin’s New Century Economic Development Plan for the City of Atlanta. He explains, “We don’t go to extremes. Most of the upheaval in the global market has resulted from taking financial products to their tipping points and stretching the financial system to its limits.”
To make it clear to those of us who are stretched by certain economic concepts, Mr. Whatley uses the example of farmland. “It is as if you took a 100-acre plot and tried to plant on it the same amount of food as for a 1,000 acre plot. There is a physical limit to an economic system. Islam recognizes the limits of man and the limits of our resources, and provides balance between them. It makes the economic actor realize profit cannot be the only motive.

As the combined profits for the big five oil companies reached $123 billion in 2007 and $100 billion in 2008 while drivers were paying record prices at the pump, some consumers questioned the ethics of such high profits. Mr. Whatley notes that while profit is lawful in Islam, there is more than one bottom line. “There are four bottom lines – financial profit, the social impact, the environmental impact and the spiritual bottom line. So there must be a balance among them, and you don’t let the monetary gain overshadow other components.”

The spiritual bottom line is important to Muslims as they seek to invest their money or purchase a home. Attorney Midhat H. Syed, a partner and co-chair of the Islamic Finance and Investments division at the Connecticut-based law firm of Murtha Cullina LLP, reviews contracts and documents sales for Islamic financial institutions and individuals who wish to ensure that their transactions are Shari’ah-compliant. He says, “The concepts promoted and adopted by Shari’ah are equity and fairness. The Shari’ah laws are deeply rooted in those concepts.” Explaining the guidelines, Mr. Syed states that social conscious investing prohibits investments in industries such as alcohol, pornography and gambling, and that Islamic finance principles prohibit ribaa, interest; gharar, excessive uncertainty and maysir, speculation. “In a Shari’ah-compliant transaction,” the risk is shared in all aspects – credit, market and operations,” Mr. Syed concludes. Additionally, Islamic transactions must be based in reality. Derivatives, hedge funds and financial instruments, based on pure speculation, allow the financier a long reach. Because they are not tied to any tangible commodity, they violate the Islamic requirements of freedom from excessive uncertainty and speculation. “The main reason for the economic downturn and the financial crunch is that every dollar has been stretched many times,” observes Mr. Syed."

     So... there you have it.  I sure wish someone would just be HONEST enough to let us all know what's REALLY up with this 'pro-Muslim prayer vigil' initiative.  Any way you look at it, combining religion with politics, money and sex always ends up with something that stinks.  At the very least, I sure would like a statement of clarification from the Shari'ah lawyers among us as they push for the building of mosques here and there in the "Land of the Free & Home of the Brave".
     It should be interesting to see how all this plays out for us all in the US as terrorist threaten us, as our economy fails and as the voters flounder due to lack of confidence in our leaders. 
     All I ask is, "Where is the TRANSPARENCY with these out-spoken Muslims and their supporters in light of this MOSQUE DEBATE?  So far, I'm not seeing any.
     As a country, we can be better than this.
