Naysayers will no-doubt opine of a lack of confidence in anything the Sanford P.D. provides, but the evidence speaks for itself.

  

We must reject prejudice and conjecture.  Most especially, decent persons would do well to avoid any and all particularly vicious forms of 'hate-mongering' as by those who seek to promote racially-motivated violence.

As my heart and prayers go out to the family and friends of Trayvon Martin, so do they go out to the family and friends of George Zimmerman.

     No words can adequately express the depth and breadth of this tragedy.  The Lord, alone, can offer the solace and comfort we all need at this time.  

     When Jesus was first on this earth, he spoke these words...known as 'The Beatitudes'...to all his disciples & to the many people who had gathered around him:

   "He said:

³ “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
   for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
⁴ Blessed are those who mourn,
   for they will be comforted.

     Whatever you may think or feel about the 'OCCUPY DARIEN' movement, I would ask you to have compassion for it's apparent leader/organizer Margaret Rague, who was recently arrested:

     The news media have been 'rift' with comments, back and forth, between Ms. Rague and others.  
     Even a cursory examination of these reveals some very disturbing interactions:

     It does Darien (or Stamford with their 'OCCUPY STAMFORD" or New Canaan with their 'OCCUPY NEW CANAAN' or any of Connecticut, for that matter) no good at all.
     And it certainly is not in keeping with what should be the 'joy' of this holiday-time of the year.
     So won't you please join me in praying for all involved here?
     Please pray that those who are hurt and angry may know 'peace in their hearts' in the spirit of compassion and forgiveness.
     Above all, do not contribute to that which seeks only to promote discord and tumult across our fine country.
     At this time in history we should all be 'pulling together'!  We should be seeing to it that those most 'at risk'--our young, our elderly, the weak, the poor, the hungry--are comforted and cared for!

 Dear Jesus: 

      I appreciate the fact that you sent this apology for publication, and I publish it here with the understanding that I am one of those who has no stomach for anyone who poses as a warrior when they are not. 

     'Stolen valor/Impersonation' is a loser's game and is shameful, which I'm sure you understand in your heart by now. 

     Those who risk life and limb everyday for us in the United States of America...and those who actually sacrifice their very lives for us...are the ones to whom your apology should be directed--to them and to their families and friends, in fact. 

     We read,  "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." Philippians 4:13 (KJV) 

     If YOU TRULY BELIEVE IN GOD, Jesus, you will be strengthened by your 'namesake', our brother Christ, and NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE for you. 

     You will have the strength to 'man up' to your wrong-doing.

     You will have the strength to face your accusers, to apologize (this is a good start here) and you will have the strength and ability to convince one and all that you will never, EVER attempt anything like what you've done again! 

     Between God, your fiancee and your baby, you are surely blessed.  You already ARE someone special, Jesus...you just don't know it yet!

     You and your fiancee must earnestly pray together, and I will join you as I've promised, doing so as we remember what the Lord tells us: 

"¹⁹ “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. ²⁰ For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”   Matthew 18:19-20  (NIV) 

     Frankly after reading your letter, I find it hard to believe that you would 'be proud' for your child to know that his or her Daddy did bad things in the sorry excuse of 'supporting his family'. 

     YES, life is difficult and YES life is unfair. But many others have trials and somehow manage to survive, so why can you not do the same?

     You are only 20 years old, dear Jesus, and that is still young enough for some to 'want to give you a second chance' and let you continue on with your life as a much better person--a 'new and improved' version of you! 

     But you must make amends first and on top of whatever the court orders.  I suggest that instead of fleeing the country, you 'suck it up' and redirect your life here. 

     I would suggest that you get gainfully employed. Then VOLUNTEER to help out at a local veteran's hospital outpost, get involved in a group that helps military service members families or volunteer with the American Red Cross. 

     Contact your local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), DAV (Disabled American Veterans) or American Legion for information on how you can 'give back' and make restitution in a moral sense, after you have fulfilled whatever is required of you legally. 

     Perhaps your court appointed attorney can assist you with these things. Perhaps the law enforcement officials you have interacted with would also be willing to suggest some useful activities you can perform in the 'public service' sector. 

     True Christians know that they are duty-bound to forgive their brothers and sisters in Christ. Others may not be inclined to do so, but with time and prayer, perhaps they, too, will forgive your youthful transgressions. 

     I've been accused of being 'too forgiving' at times, but I will always choose to give someone 'the benefit of the doubt' unless and until things prove I oughtn't to.

     Are we not to forgive 'not seven times, but SEVENTY times'? 

"The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant: ²¹ Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”  ²² Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times."   Matthew 18:21-22  (NIV) 

     Restoration of 'trust' takes longer, but, with time, that can be rebuilt, too. 

     And so I say, God Bless you , Jesus Garcia and your fiancee and your precious baby to come. 

     May the Lord Bless thee and keep thee...and may He shine His Face upon thee, today and always.

"What I Know For Certain About Judgement Day May 21, 2011" By Reverend Barbara Sexton

 Dear Ones:
     By now all have heard that tomorrow May 21, 2011 will be 'Judgement Day'.
     Believers will be 'Raptured', the dead first and then living believers, a 'concept' which is cherished with wondrous anticipation by many, if not most, genuine Christian believers.
     I don't know if tomorrow will be the day or not, but my advice to you is this:
     If you are a Christian striving to live in a 'state of grace', keep on doing what you've been doing.
     If you are a non-believer, I pray that you will be given the gift of faith.
     And to 'marginal' Christians, this is a good time to 'firm up' your beliefs and fully put your faith in the Lord.  Pray to God that your faith be strengthened.
     Come what may tomorrow, there are TWO things I DO know for certain:
1)  It will be a hey-day for scoffers and non-believers who will reveal the true depths of their religious intolerance and lack of understanding for Christians and other persons of faith
....and
2)  As if things were not bad enough in this world already, even today, this so-called 'day before', May 20, 2011, true followers of Christ have an even more difficult path to tread with those around them.

A 'Prayer Poem' For You

By Reverend Barbara Sexton

Dear Ones Healing Ministry

All sorrow hailed, all sad about,

A growing sense of gloom and tears,
Those fellows felt the sting of doubt,
And realization of their fears.

The women went about their tasks,
Brave set upon their daily work,
For other's sake their wore calm masks,
In faith they did not duty shirk.

Still no one there could shed the feel,

Of gnawing deep from head to loins,

Of him designed to share that meal,

Then sell the man for thirty coins.

They could not fathom how a man,
Could sell a brother just like that,
Supplanting kiss, that coward ran.
To reap reward and live 'a-fat'.

Yet no one told him of the guilt,
That Judas then would feel when done,
He'd reap an agony to the hilt,
For full disclosure of the One.

In misery fast he tore his life,
Upon a spike asunder,
In death, as life, he knew such strife,
That man with guilty plunder.

Yet God did use this tortured man,
To kill his one Begotten Son,
And so the faithful know the Plan,
That mercy follows everyone.

 It fills the marrow and the bones,
Of those who understand this gift,
God's Goodness drives, reshapes and hones,
All ever ready to uplift.

For God is good in Word and Deed,
His faithfulness to us immense,
He gave us Jesus in our need,
And lovingly spared no expense.

We only can but weakly grasp,
Such mysteries from above,

But I can tell you this today,

We're meant to know that love.

We're meant to show that love to all,
To friends and foes, alike,
We're to be kind to those we love,
As those who bring us strife.

Imperfect we, we all fall short,
Of meeting that ideal,
We rather give a sharp retort,
And let our feelings reel.

The world has those far from 'The Word',

Who love to taunt 'believers',
And so we call upon the Saints,
To be our 'soul relievers'.

We pray to God to give us strength,
And will to persevere,
When we're confronted breadth and length,
As Maundy Thursday nears.

Dear Readers:

     Make no mistake about it, prostitution has always been with us and is likely 'here to stay'.

     In fact, the Bible, itself, is rift with mention of this profession in it's various incarnations:
--sometimes redemptively 'flattering' as in the story of God-fearing 'Rahab', the brave prostitute who hid and helped two Israelis spying in Jericho escape with their lives

--sometimes (rightly or wrongly, but in my opinion the latter...) as a 'repentant prostitute' in the tradition of Mary Magdalene

---and sometimes in the 'no-holds-barred' tradition of the metaphor of the 'Great Whore Of Babylon', who in collusion with 'the Antichrist' and the 'Beast' wrecks havoc on earth and humankind in their 'final days'.

     Of course, other prostitutes, concubines, sex slaves and all sorts of sexual activities are elaborated upon in Scripture (listen up you who think the Bible is all irrelevant and boring ramblings of stern old men!).
     In fact, Biblical stories of 'fallen women' are a very powerful reflection of the realities of life of earth...in times past, currently, as well as in the future.
     To write the 'Good Book' off as 'mere arcane and imaginary writings' (as I once did for the first 37 years of my life as a proud atheist/agnostic) is to do it a great injustice.  (Note: You OWE IT to yourself to read the Bible NOW, if you never have before!)
     But I digress....
     Back to the surprising 'stance' of the uber-liberal Harry Reid, I stand with those who simply cannot believe that 'Prince Harry', as Tea Party Patriots call him, is SO up-in-arms about the legal prostitution business in Nevada.
     It boggles the mind that Progressive Lib Dem Harry Reid is actually BLAMING Nevada's financial woes on the 'world's oldest profession'.
     Not only is it 'counter-intuitive', but it smacks of the kind of perverse 'self-righteousness' exhibited by those who consider themselves to be totally 'above the frey'.
     Is Prince Harry SQUAWKING too much because he has something to hide, like the fact that HE and his CRONIES are responsible for not only the pathetic financial state of Nevada, but of the entire U.S.A., itself?
     Is the 'gentleman (ahem) from Nevada' objecting just a little too much?
     I think so. 
     And I think that Harry Reid is barking up a storm over Nevada brothels not so much because he hails from a position of 'high moral import'...but because he craves to be in the spotlight, once again and he'll do whatever it takes to get back there.
     Don't get me wrong-engaging in prostitution has enough negative ramifications.
     Those who do it for a living must face a myriad of consequences and life-impacts that are more often bad than good.
     Prostitution, gambling, booze, drugs, abortion, sexually transmitted diseases and various forms of 'abuse' are always potential cohabitants in the lives of the Bunny Ranch babes and their sisters.
     Family and friends are affected, not to mention 'significant others', if there are any.
     But, at least in Nevada some level of legal regulation is applied to and oversees the prostitution industry, which is more than we can say about the dog-and-pony show we have been forcefully subjected to by Nancy Pelosi and the 'squawking' Prince Harry.
     I don't know what set Reed 'off' here, but I think he's off-base.
     Doesn't he realize that it was Mary Magdalene, that 'fallen-woman-wrongly-branded-as-a-prostitute' by eons of male chauvinist church leaders who first saw the 'empty tomb' and then the Risen Christ?
     Doesn't Harry realize that it was 'the women'--those branded 'sainted' and 'fallen' and those 'in-between' who stayed with Christ under the cross...prepared his body for burial...and then were the first to 'see' him again after resurrection?
     The lesson here is that the way of Jesus is one of understanding, forgiveness and 'rebirth'.
     I urge Prince Harry to 'revisit' these tenets in the religion he claims for himself which is Mormon, also known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
     And as one who has 'worked' with prostitutes with my street and church ministries for many moons, I speak from the soft places of my heart.
     I want to remind my sisters everywhere and whatever they do for a living, that they can, at any time, earnestly pray to 'our God of second chances and new beginnings'...
     And know we will all be heard.

LET US PRAY

Dear Lord God: 

We come to you this day to ask for your Special Intervention.

We pray that you will spare the life and health of your child Police Officer Richard Gasparino and restore him to complete wellness and back into the arms of his loving family and friends.

Please instill in P.O. Gasparino a 'fullness of spirit' that allows him to not only recover from the physical and psychic wounds he has received in the line of duty...but that he be ever stronger, able and more determined than even before this event.

Give his family, friends and colleagues courage and fortitude and sustain them at this time and always, we ask you dear Father in Heaven...and give them great HOPE, especially during this holiday season.

May our fears evaporate and may our indignation be placated by your righteous Judgment--that those who are guilty be appropriately punished, even as we pray for their repentance and rejuvenation...if that be possible.

Blessed are we who walk with you, Lord.  And so we glorify your Name as we ask all good people to step forth in the name of Truth in order to help at this time.

We do pray these things in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit

Dear Ones:

     DON'T EVER BUY A DOG FROM A PET STORE THAT 'GETS THEIR STOCK' FROM CRUEL PUPPY MILLS!
     I don't know how to say this any plainer.  But PUPPY MILL CONDITIONS are DEPLORABLE and CRUEL, especially to the poor 'BREEDER DOGS'.  More correctly, these should be called 'GREED DOGS', because that is all BREEDERS are interested in and the MONEY they can make at the cost of these suffering animals.
     Most often the persons who run PUPPY MILLS care NOT for their animals, but only for the almighty BUCK!  And PUPPY MILLS are found ALL OVER THE NATION, Missouri and Pennsylvania but two locations being highlighted here.
     If you've never visited a PUPPY MILL, I urge you to do so...and visit your local animal shelter, too.  The 'mothers' suffer and the puppies suffer, born sick, weak and neglected.
     Read below about the BIG WIN in MISSOURI by the ASPCA, but with much work to go.
     Do you live in a 'PUPPY MILL AREA'?  If so and if you have ANY HEART at all I would beg you to GET INVOLVED and INVESTIGATE the current state-of-affairs for POOR DOGS (and other creatures for that matter) RIGHT WHERE YOU LIVE!
     Dogs are sentient creatures.  That means they see, hear, feel, remember, 'experience', suffer, grieve, get depressed and lose 'hope'.  They depend upon us HUMANS to be good stewards of THEM and of ALL of God's little creatures.
     Won't you help?  First check out this PUPPY MILL article on the ASPCA website, then DONATE and GET INVOLVED in the area you live and work in.
     SAY NO TO PUPPY MILLS!  ADOPT A SHELTER DOG or other PET!  VOLUNTEER at your LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER and SUPPORT the ASPCA!

Dogs Win Big on Election Day with Historic Victory in Missouri

Fed up with their state’s reputation as the Puppy Mill Capital of America, Missourians hit the polls on Election Day to declare that enough is enough! On Tuesday, November 2, voters in the Show Me State passed the Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act, which appeared on their ballots as Proposition B. (Although policy reform is most often generated through state legislatures, Prop B was a citizen-supported initiative). It is an incredible victory, and one we hope will send a strong message to the governments of other states—namely, that the public wants better conditions for puppy mill dogs, and will take on the task of changing the law themselves if elected officials fail to act.

In the last three years, 15 states, including major puppy mill states such as Iowa, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania, have passed laws to crack down on puppy mills. However, in no other state were the stakes higher for puppy mill dogs than Missouri.

Missouri’s weak laws regulating commercial kennels have made it a haven for substandard breeders. As home to one-third of all the commercial dog breeding facilities in the U.S.—as many as the next three largest dog breeding states combined—Missouri supplies more than 40 percent of all puppies sold in pet stores nationwide. No matter where you live, there’s a good chance that the puppies in the window of your local pet store came from a Missouri puppy mill. Implementation of the Puppy Mill Cruelty Prevention Act will provide welcome relief to tens of thousands of adult breeding dogs—not to mention the approximately one million puppies born in Missouri kennels every year.

The new Missouri law, which becomes effective in one year, requires that dogs at these large-scale facilities be provided with sufficient food and clean water, regular veterinary care, adequate housing and space, and access to regular exercise. And with passage of Proposition B, Missouri becomes the fifth state—joining Louisiana, Oregon, Virginia and Washington—to create a limit on the number of intact, adult breeder dogs a commercial dog breeder may keep.

“Tuesday’s passage of Proposition B reflects a landmark achievement in the ongoing fight against animal cruelty,” says ASPCA President & CEO Ed Sayres. “We are proud to have worked diligently on this campaign, and we celebrate this victory alongside the caring citizens of Missouri. The ASPCA is committed to working with local animal welfare groups to help breeders transition to the new humane standards and find loving homes for any displaced Missouri breeding dogs.”

This victory is the culmination of 18 months of work for the ASPCA and our partners in Missourians for the Protection of Dogs, and it is proof that when we join together to use our voices for animals, we will be heard!
