     My 'plea' is a simple one: In light of today's IED (improvised explosive device) airliner drama, I am calling specifically on ALL GOOD MUSLIMS TO STEP FORWARD AND CONDEMN TERRORIST VIOLENCE.
      And since a number of Synagogues and Jewish Centers were 'targeted' today, I am additionally calling upon ALL GOOD MUSLIMS to join their CHRISTIAN BROTHERS and SISTERS in support and defense of OUR JEWISH SISTERS and BROTHERS.

     Anyone GAME?  To date, the Muslim community has been very poorly represented in the defense of Jews and Christians anywhere.  Why is that so?  We've been listening and hear nothing.  We've been looking and see nothing from our Muslim brothers and sister.   

     So far all we've seen a lot of so-called 'touchey-feelie interfaith apologetics' with Muslims based purely on the need and desire to the promote Progressive-lib Dem causes of non-Muslim liberals. 

     Ironically, these 'hale-fellows-well-met' 'Imams' actually CONDEMN the very essence of the radical right social causes they've become aligned with...but that's not our problem here.

     But I DO challenge 'Muslim apologists' in the religious community to get real and press their Muslim cohorts for true commitments to outing and suppressing those who wish to hurt innocent people not only in America, but all over the world.
     It's such a simple request, don't you think?

BED BUGS

A bit of information that you might like to know about.

We have friends here in our community and one of their sons is an entomologist (insect expert), and has been telling them that there is an epidemic of bed bugs now occurring in America. Recently I have heard on the news that several stores in NYC have had to close due to bed bug problems, as well as a complete mall in New Jersey. He says that since much of our clothing, sheets, towels, etc. now comes from companies outside of America, (sad but true), even the most expensive stores sell foreign clothing from China, Indonesia, etc. The bed bugs are coming in on the clothing as these countries do not consider them a problem.


He recommends that if you buy any new clothing, even underwear and socks, sheets, towels, etc. that you bring them into the house and put them in your clothes dryer for at least 20 minutes. The heat will kill them and their eggs. DO NOT PURCHASE CLOTHES AND HANG THEM IN THE CLOSET FIRST. It does not matter what the price range is of the clothing, or if the outfit comes from the most expensive store known in the U.S. They still get shipments from these countries and the bugs can come in a box of scarves or anything else for that matter. That is the reason why so many stores, many of them clothing stores have had to shut down in NYC and other places. All you need is to bring one item into the house that has bugs or eggs and you will go to hell and back trying to get rid of them. He travels all over the country as an advisor to many of these stores, as prevention and after they have the problem.

I came across this today. It is not about the VFW's actions but I believe it tells us that we must never forget what our great country is to all that live here. We can not allow our country to be destroyed or even divided by the VFW-PAC or anyone else. All members of congress who voted to help spend our country into bankruptcy should read these comments. Many of them would not even understand what this person is talking about. Many more would not even care. I do not think this person came to this country to have it sold to the Chinese or run by Marxists.

35 years ago if you were to tell me that I am going to stand up here speaking in English to a large group of patriots, I’d laugh at you. Every morning I wake up thanking God for putting family and me in the greatest country on earth.

I just want you all to know that the American dream does exist and I am living the American dream. I was asked to speak to you about my experience as a first generation Vietnamese American, but I rather speak to you as an American.

If you hadn’t noticed, I am not white and I feel pretty comfortable with my people.

I am a proud US citizen and here is my proof… It took me 8 years to get it, waiting in endless lines, but I got it and I am very proud of it. Guess what, I did it legally and it ain’t from the state of Hawaii.

I still remember the images of the Tet offensive in 1968. I was six years old. Now you might want to question how a 6year old boy could remember anything. Trust me, those images can never be erased. I can’t even imagine what it was like for young American soldiers, 10,000 miles away from home, fighting on my behalf. 35 years ago, I left South Vietnam to come to America for political asylum. The war had ended. At the age of 13, I left with the understanding that I may or may not ever get to see my siblings or parents again. I was one of the first lucky 100,000 Vietnamese allowed to come to the US. Somehow, my family and I were reunited 5 months later, amazingly, in California. It was a miracle from God.

If you haven’t heard lately that this is the greatest country on earth, let me tell you, IT IS!!! It is the freedom and the opportunities presented to me that put me here with all of you tonight. I also remember the barriers that I had to overcome every step of the way. My high school counselor told me that I could not make it to college due to my poor communication skills. I proved him wrong. I finished college. You see… All you have to do is to give this little boy an opportunity and encourage him to take and run with it. Well, I took the opportunities and here I am. This person standing tonight in front of you could not exist under a socialist/communist environment. By the way, if you think socialism is the way to go, I am sure many people here will chip in to get you a one-way ticket out of here. And if you didn’t know, the only difference between socialism and communism is an AK-47 aiming at your head. That was what I knew and grew up with.

In 1983, I stood with a thousand new immigrants, reciting the pledge of allegiance and listening to the National Anthem for the first time as an American. To this day, I can’t remember anything sweeter and more patriotic than that moment in my life.

Fast forwarding, somehow I finished high school, finished college, and like any other goofball 21 year old kid, I was having a great time with my life, I had a nice job and a nice apartment in Southern California. In someway and somehow, I had forgotten how I got here and why I am here.

One day I was at a gas station, I saw a veteran pumping gas on the other side of the island. I didn’t know what made me do it, but I walked over and asked if he had served in Vietnam. He smiled and said Yes. I shook and held his hand. His eyes started to well up. I walked away as fast as I could and at that very moment, I was emotionally rocked, this was a profound moment in life. I knew something had to change in my life. It was time for me to learn how to be a good citizen. It was time for me to give back.

You see… America is not place on the map; it isn’t a physical location. It is an ideal, a concept. And if you are an American, you must understand the concept, you must buy into this concept and most importantly, you have to fight and defend this concept. This is about Freedom… and not free stuff. And that is why I am standing up here. Brothers and sisters, to be a real American, the very least you must do is to learn English and understand it well. In my humble opinion, you cannot be a faithful patriotic citizen if you can’t speak the language of the country you live in. Take this document of 46 pages… Last I looked on the internet, there wasn’t a Vietnamese translation of the US constitution. It took me a long time to get to the point of being able to converse and until this day, I still struggle to come up with the right words. It’s not easy, but if it’s too easy, it’s not worth doing.

Before I got to know this 46- page document, I learned of the 500,000 Americans who fought for this little boy. I learned of the 58,000 names scribed on the black wall at the Vietnam War memorial. You are my heroes. You are my founders.

When I was eligible to vote, I went out and performed my civic duty. For all of you young people out there, who just turned 18, I encourage you to exercise your duty as an American to be an informed voter no matter where you are or what you do. America fought and died for your rights. DON’T LET HER DOWN!!!

At this time, I would like to ask all the Vietnam veterans to please stand. I thank you for my life. I thank you for your sacrifices, and I thank you for giving me the freedom and the liberties I have today. I now ask All veterans, firefighters, and police officers, to please stand. On behalf of all first generation immigrants, I thank you for your service and may God bless you all and may God bless America! (end speech)

Dear Ones:
     I am addressing this as much to those who do NOT care for Republican (let alone TEA PARTY) politics, as I am to my fellow 'TOM FOLEY' supporters.  The message I want to give you is that we are basically on the same page.
     Yes.  I said that. 
     It may seem that UNION members SHOULD, by definition, 'hang-onto' the old DEMOCRAT straight-line voting, just because IT IS EXPECTED OF THEM! 
     But I am here to tell you that it is time for a CHANGE!  I urge each and every one of you to THINK FOR YOURSELVES, talk with your brothers and sisters and then come to the right conclusion when you pull that lever on Nov. 2.
     It was my honor and pleasure to meet and speak with some AFL-CIO Local 1298 protesters at a recent Tom Foley/Scott Brown Rally at the Riverfront Center in Glastonbury.  For persons like myself, it is as natural as breathing for me to 'migrate' towards 'kindred spirits'.

      Anyway...as I said to Dan McSparran, Legislative Co-Chair Of the Communication Workers of America AFL-CIO Local 1298 and his fellow protesters...We DON'T come from different perspectives. 
     I also told all present that I was raised in a poor family with a father who worked as a 'safety engineer' on behalf of Union workers in the NYC Tri-State area. 
     What I didn't have time to share is that one of my Grandfathers worked as a 'nightwatchman' and the other was a 'presser' in the garment district in NYC. 
     Each year, the only winter coat my brothers and I got was one hand tailored for each of us by Grandpa Ike from (DANG-awful itchy, but made with love and FREE!)) heavy wool remnants.  You don't grow up like I did and then struggle on your own for decades to see what you've gained all sucked away by the GREEDY POLITICIANS in power today!
     I could no longer turn my back on the concerns of workers and immigrants than I can on my 'own'.  We (the Foley camp) have more in common than you will ever believe, my Union friends.  As a matter of fact, just check out the full-video (in two parts) of the event you were 'picketing', if you are curious to see what went on. 
     In it, you will see that we are not all that 'far apart' at all!
     We ALL want jobs and are concerned about jobs.
     We ALL worry about health care benefits and what's happening to them under the onus of 'Obamacare'.
     We want the very BEST education for our kids.  It's time to get rid of poorly-performing teachers who are so 'locked-into' the system that they consider themselves to be invincible.
     We want to be able to afford to send our kids to college.
     We want to fight terrorism in all it's forms and to protect our homeland.
     We want to squelch the destructive 'class/race/elitism/socioeconomic/partisan politics' mentality of those currently in power and get back to good old American basics.
     We love our military service members and our veterans.  We love our elderly, our babies, our mentally and physically challenged friends and neighbors and we love our animals.
     NEXT time, don't just stay outside, come INSIDE and listen to things for yourselves, dear Protesters!  I say these things to you as volunteer chair of Tom Foley's 'independents' coalition.
     Yep, I am trying to win your hearts and minds to vote for Tom for Governor of Connecticut, giving it my 'best shot'.
      I wouldn't do this if I had the slightest doubts about my new-found political activities.  In fact, Heaven help the person who tries to influence MY independent vote through force, intimidation or graft!  
     I know some of you consider yourselves 'wed' to Dan Malloy and all-things-Democratic per Union officials-on-high.  I get that.
     But let me tell you that just as the Malloy camp got that repetitive 'Bibb Ad' wrong, now Malloy's 'take' on Tom's 'healthcare option intentions' is even MORE ABSURD. 
     'No more mammograms'?  Give me a BREAK!  I'm a biochemist and an alternative health care provider MYSELF, just so you know...and one who's had two breast surgeries due to mammogram cancer scares.  C'MON!  You think I want to deny ANYONE A MAMMOGRAM or TREATMENT?  You've got to be kidding!
     Plainly put, Dannel Malloy is getting more and more desperate to take apart Team Foley-Boughton in ways that will continue to truly mislead you, his loyal followers.  Sad to say that the progressive-lib Dems currently in power are so 'far removed' from 'barn jacket wearers' that it's not even funny.

      Just please know that while I support Tom Foley, I am a 'tough nut to crack'.  If I didn't think that Foley and his people would DELIVER on what they PROMISED....I wouldn't even be doing what I am. 
     All I ask is that you check and check again on your own guys and see who's 'in it for themselves in the end' and who's really in the gubernatorial race to help ALL of Connecticut's residents, including hardworking Union workers.
     What we need now is not the province of any ONE party or political persuasion.  We need good people who are honest and who have common-sense matched by intelligence, positive support and vision.
     Do you want to be known as 'the guys who are all okay with the corrupt dealings and bankrupting of our fine country thanks to the politics of today'?  Or do you want to be known as the voter group(s) who 'MADE THE DIFFERENCE' to 'take things back' for all the people?  You can see just how horribly divided the country is now.  Whatever happened to our ability to 'agree to disagree' and live happily together ANYWAY in the United States of America?
      I leave you with these thoughts, my new friends:  I'm a 'newbie' to politics'.  Granted, I am an 'idealist' and an 'optimist' and probably very naive about some things.
      But I know Dan Malloy.  He was my neighbor across the street and then behind me--as I told you on October 9, 2010 in front of Glastonbury's Riverfront Community Center.  I 'love' Dan and his family to pieces, but I just can't vote for the guy! 
      Vote for Dannel Malloy and you will be branded securely as nothing more than 'the rank and file' of Connecticut--exactly the kind of heartless Obama-Pelosi-Reed 'classism' that is tearing-apart of our country. 
     Stick with that crew who readily embraces the stigmata of BLUMENTHAL and his bearing of false witness regarding the selfless and sacred sacrifices of those protecting our country honorably overseas and domestic military service.  Stick with him and you and your Unions will be branded, too!
     TRULY GOOD DEEDS need not be TRUMPETED!  They 'speak' for themselves!
     America is so much more than this!  We LOVE our country, our rights and our pre-eminence in the world and.  But under the current administration, we are ALL under assault!  We need the help of America's Unions, to work and fight with those of us who are sick of the status quo!
     Please do NOT undervalue what the Republicans (and the TEA PARTY PATRIOTS) are doing to help protect YOUR UNION JOBS from being shipped overseas...and to protect the future of your kids and grandkids. 
     You'd better believe that the regime you are supporting is living high on the hog....even if we're not.  Why do it any longer?
     The current Administration is fomenting 'classism, racism and elitistm'.  I cannot tell you, my Union friends, how much Tom Foley IS NOT ABOUT THAT.  Watch the video of him and Senator Scott Brown and hear them talk about jobs, jobs, jobs....and jobs.  I'll try to publish as many things like this as I can and you can judge for yourselves who you want heading up our home state.  If I heard it once, I've heard it a score of times, already, from Tom, himself: "EVERYTHING'S ON THE TABLE".  This means YOUR INTERESTS are on the table, as well, my friends.
     Let me be the irascible INDEPENDENT, ever-optimistic, that I am.  I pray that Union members will listen, reflect, digest and react according to their individual hearts and consciences and let "the capitalism that helps ALL of us" flow and flourish in a selfless and 'non-elitist' way! 
     Can you not see that the 'Obama-Pelosi-Reed-Malloy' alliance is killing industry in the U.S.?  Can you not see how current jobLESS numbers continue to SKYROCKET.

STAMFORD -- For the second time in less than a year,


President Barack Obama will visit Stamford Thursday afternoon in an effort to keep a Connecticut Democrat in the Senate.

The president will appear on behalf of U.S. Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal, whose lead over Republican candidate Linda McMahon has dwindled to only six points in a recent poll. The $1,000-per-ticket fundraiser dinner (the party of the poor?) will be held at the Marriott Hotel on Tresser Boulevard.


Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dannel Malloy, Stamford's mayor during Obama's last visit to the city in October 2009, said he plans to attend.


"I've met the president on many occasions," Malloy said. "I look forward to having him in the state of Connecticut. Obviously, he's supportive of Dick Blumenthal's campaign and I want to be supportive as well."


Obama's last trip to Stamford was to speak at a fundraiser for Sen. Chris Dodd at the First Stamford Hotel. Dodd has since decided not to run for re-election after being sharply criticized for his handling of the AIG bailout and undergoing a yearlong investigation, in which he was ultimately cleared, for his dealings with subprime lender Countrywide Financial. Obama will now campaign for Blumenthal, the state's attorney general, to replace Dodd.


U.S. Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., said he has to vote on Capitol Hill Thursday and will be unable to attend the fundraiser. He said he is happy the president will be visiting the 4th Congressional District, however.


"I am always pleased when a president of either party comes to Fairfield County to look around at the challenges we face and the things we need to do about traffic and housing," Himes said. "I am happy the president is coming by."


Republican Mayor Michael Pavia may not be campaigning for Democrats, but he is still looking forward to getting some face time in with the president.


"It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing," he said.


On Wednesday, Pavia said he plans to meet with the president prior to the 5 p.m. fundraiser.


Preparations are under way for Obama's visit to the Marriott, said hotel General Manager Joe Kelly. About 500 people are expected to attend the sit-down dinner, which will feature a chicken dish.


"Everybody is very excited," Kelly said. "To my knowledge, it's the third president that's visited the Marriott."


Former President Bill Clinton stopped by in 1995 and Ronald Reagan also visited the hotel in the 1980s, Kelly said.


Ellen Camhi, chairwoman of the Democratic City Committee, said she is very excited for Thursday's fundraiser. Camhi received a complimentary ticket from the Blumenthal campaign for the event.


"I'm very thrilled," said Camhi, who attended last year's fundraiser for Dodd. "I know there will be a lot of people there, but I just love to be in the same room as Barack Obama."


Camhi won't be the only repeat attendee Thursday. The Connecticut Tea Party Patriots, who protested outside the October 2009 fundraiser with signs reading "Dump Dodd," plan to again voice their disapproval of Obama and the Democratic Party Thursday afternoon.

"We just want to let the contributors to Blumenthal's campaign and the president and the people in general know that we are still here, that we are not going away," said tea party activist Tanya Bachand. "We don't care for the big-government spending that has been going on. We will continue to try to weaken Blumenthal as a candidate by letting the public know that yes, in fact, there are people who object to this big government agenda."


The Stamford Police Department has assigned a section of the Tresser Boulevard sidewalk across from the Marriott for the Tea Party's demonstration, said Monique Thomas, coordinator for the Greenwich-Stamford Connecticut Tea Party Patriots. Thomas, who said she will be waving her "Linda McMahon for U.S. Senate" poster at the rally, appeared in a video invitation posted on YouTube for the tea party demonstration, which has been dubbed "No Blumen Way."


Camhi said the protesters' plans are "no big deal." She said she does not believe that the president's recent decline in opinion polls will negatively affect the campaigns of any Democrats running for election in Connecticut.


"I think the public is smart enough to know these are very difficult times and he is working very hard," Camhi said. "I don't think anyone expects these problems to resolve overnight."

Blumenthal was on the campaign trail Wednesday and unable to comment. His campaign manager, Mindy Myers, provided a statement via e-mail.

"Dick looks forward to welcoming the president of the United States to Connecticut," Myers said. "It's a
honor to have the president's support, and his visit will help make a difference for our campaign by energizing our supporters and helping raise the resources we will need against our opponent, who is spending an unprecedented $50 million on her campaign."

Parish Braden, a Republican National Committee spokesman, said Connecticut families need a candidate who will stand up to the president's failed economic policies.


"Richard Blumenthal can look to Washington to save his sputtering campaign, but the president's visit will only remind voters that Blumenthal is in lock step with the Democrats' tax and spend agenda that has yet to bring economic recovery to Connecticut," he said. "It's clear that sending Blumenthal to Washington will only make matters worse for the 91 percent of Connecticut voters worried about the direction of the economy."


The president will attend a second dinner fundraiser, which costs $30,000 a ticket, at a private estate in Greenwich following the Stamford event.

The warmth and vitality of the Peruvian people is fresh in my mind following my first visit to your beautiful country earlier this summer.      Alright.  You're a 'retiree' and you and your spouse have worked hard all your lives.  Now, finally, you are living in the 'Florida paradise' known as Key West.  Relatives come to visit, the grandkids come to stay for a while during vacation and life, overall, is good.  Reeeeal good.
     You're 'thankful', of course, but you know just how much you've put into these 'retirement years' up till now.  You've foregone vacations to pay for your childrens' tuitions.  You've been frugal at times and even have 'gone without'...and Lord knows you've always paid your taxes to the last dime.  You done your best with your own healthcare and paid thousands out-of-pocket' just so you could enjoy this time.  You are 'entitled' to this retirement haven because you have EARNED it and everyone knows it.
     Right?  Yes, right.
     Then one day, you're not feeling so well.  Barely recalling the couple of mosquito bites you got the other night when hubby took you to a nice dinner at your favorite place, you figure you've just got a '24-hour bug'.  Little do you know that you've got a 'bug' alright, but it's not at all what you think it is.
      No sooner do you first detect a little 'something' going on, than your head begins to feel like it is about to explode and your head is seared with pain!  You can't see well, for your eyeballs are 'killing you' and then you notice that your nose has begun to bleed.  "OH MY GOD AM I HAVING A STROKE?", you cry out loud. 
     You try to get up off the couch for some tissues when you realize that you are too weak to do so. Even if you could 'break through the pain' in every joint and muscle of your body, you just can't move.
     What in Heaven's name is going on, you wonder?  And where did this weird RASH come from, you wonder as your worried spouse grabs his cellular to call the doctor.  "What the hell did you EAT?", he asks you, in that loving/complaining way only husbands can do.  You've no IDEA what is happening to you and frantically you recall in your mind all the people you've had contact with in the last week. 
     They are fine and healthy and like you, you come to find out after a few phone calls.  Their only complaints are a 'few pesky bug bites', just like you have!
     And then it becomes clear.  You're whisked to the hospital and the docs standing over you ask 'where you've traveled to' lately...internationally, that is.  You barely manage to turn your head and make eye-contact, when you hear your husband answer, 'Why, NOWHERE!  We've been RIGHT HERE enjoying ourselves at home in Key West for the last few months'. 
     Before you know it, things take an even more ominous turn when you hear the words 'airlifted' and something about this hospital is 'not being equipped to handle you'.  Now you're more afraid than ever and you look over at your husband.  You see he's worried and and ashen-faced and then he tells you he's going to 'call the kids' and he'll be right back.  The next time he walks in, he's wearing gown, gloves and mask and tells you 'not to worry'...but you do.
     Then you're moved and the new doctors don't quite believe your story about not traveling, either.  But then the infectious disease experts tell you soon enough that 'your 'medical mystery is solved'.  You have Dengue fever, which is a mosquito-borne tropical disease and they've been in touch with the CDC.  You hardly digest this, as you shocked husband stands there helplessly, wondering if his wife has a chance of getting through all this.
     Well, you do, but you are pretty darn sick and get 'sicker, too' once you learn that over a thousand more people in Key West--a full 5% of the population there--also have evidence of Dengue fever just like you do.  The stress alone from this illness debilitates you greatly, but slowly you recover and get back to your 'old self'.  Once you do, a combination of need-to-know and a certain degree of anger drives you to do some of your own research on the agony of the past year. 
      It's 2010, now and you learn that with Dengue infections, some will show lesser or worse symptoms than you do.  All, however, will show evidence in their blood of this infection.  And what you learn appalls you.  Don't we all know that there IS no Dengue Fever in the United States as far as we know?  Isn't dengue one of those diseases that has been ERADICATED in the U.S.A.?
      By now, I know you are wondering if this is science fiction.  Or is Reverend Barb engaging in mere literary puffery?  Outright lie being relayed here, anyone?....Hello???

      What you are reading here is based on recent releases from the CDC.  CDC text is in BLACK.
     You will read that "Dengue is the most common virus transmitted by mosquitoes in the world. It causes an estimated 50 million-100 million infections and 25,000 deaths each year. From 1946 to 1980, no cases of dengue acquired in the continental United States were reported, and there has not been an outbreak in Florida since 1934."  And our couple above wondered where their Dengue is came from.
     They and you read: "An estimated 5 percent of the Key West, Fla., population—over 1,000 people—showed evidence of recent exposure to dengue virus in 2009, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health.     Also: "We're concerned that if dengue gains a foothold in Key West, it will travel to other southern cities where the mosquito that transmits dengue is present, like Miami," said Harold Margolis, chief of the dengue branch at CDC.  And our couple above has started to wonder if their 'Key West retirement choice' was all that wise at all. 

     Further:"After three initial locally acquired cases of dengue were reported in 2009, scientists from the CDC and the Florida Department of Health conducted a study to estimate the potential exposure of the Key West population to dengue virus."  This CDC press release, remember is from two days ago, July 13, 2010.
     And more: "Since 1980, a few locally acquired U.S. cases have been confirmed along the Texas-Mexico border, which coincided with large outbreaks in neighboring Mexican cities. In recent years, there has been an increase in epidemic dengue in the tropics and subtropics, including Puerto Rico."  And our couple above goes into the 'how does this figure into the immigration debate'-mode.
     Also:  "These cases represent the reemergence of dengue fever in Florida and elsewhere in the United States after 75 years," Margolis said. "These people had not travelled outside of Florida, so we need to determine if these cases are an isolated occurrence or if dengue has once again become endemic in the continental United States."  And that's when our couple above... and CDC officials...and all of us have the startling realization that, like it or not, we must consider the implications here.
     Now you know why 'fruits and vegetable matter' are banned from personal importation into the United States.  Now you know why airplane cabins are 'frantically fumigated with pesticides' upon arrivals and departures to certain foreign ports.  Now you know that there is very real concern that after 'all these years' of disease control, the world is once again becoming one big, gigantic 'petri dish'.
     Why, you ask?  It's because people have stopped vaccinating, safeguards have been dropped and infectious illegals have been harbored--for better or for worse.  I won't get into any moral or ethical arguments here (indeed, as a Pastor I am obliged to do as Christ does).  And I won't inject my Tea Party bias and common sense anymore than I already have.
     But I will say this:  any nation that disregards the very real threat that mosquitoes and the humans infected by those mosquitoes pose to the health and well-being of said nation is a country of fools.  In fact, any human infected with any contagious condition (either directly or via a vector such as the mosquito) is a threat to our country's health.
     Even worse, I WOULD go so far as to say that any political leader who knowingly, carelessly or negligently exposes their electorate to entirely avoidable harm deserves the worst castigation possible--in my dreams, anyway.  I understand the reality of politics today, so I do what I can do, part of which is educating others as best I can.  You could say this is MY 'teachable moment', even though I cannot tell you how repellent that phrase is to me.
     So, to those who 'follow their consciences' helping anyone and his uncle through our borders, think again when the time comes for you to be held accountable for whatever mass health events might transpire because of your 'compassion'.
     Just be sure that you keep a little 'compassion' left over for innocent ones who suffer at the hands of imported disease, violence and/or drugs so that you can fully extend your Progressive-lib wings of disdain and flap them in the face of our fine nations, made up, ironically, or immigrants.  No matter in the long run, I suppose.  
     Like death, grave disease is a 'great equalizer'.  Anyone who secretly and illegally harbors infectious persons (or animals, vegetables or anything else which harbors and transmits disease)  YOU and YOUR LOVED ONES will be at risk yourselves.  Last night one of the news channels mapped out 'sanctuary states' for illegal aliens and we'll keep a weather-eye on them and on you who harbor illegals. 
    I'm quite amazed at how many people totally 'forget' the fear they felt when they first heard of 'SARS', 'Bird Flu' and 'H1N1'.  Yet an entire LEAGUE of Progressive-Libs are OPENING-WIDE for just such things!  You won't mind if I DON'T join in your enthusiasm in opening our borders this way, much as I'd like to, do you? 
     Frankly, I cannot understand why Progressive-libs would want to become 'CDC-statistics', but become them they will.  If you are an illegal alien 'harborer', at least make sure your inoculations are current and use proper masks, gloves and other safety-wear.  Are you SURE this is how you want to bring Grandma into the U.S.?  If so, I beg you to consider a better, safer LEGAL way to do it, which means all of us working together.  I don't get the feeling you are capable of that kind of cooperation, but I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest it again and again...and again. 
     Sure, I'd want my relatives 'here' also.  But I wouldn't import the antisocial/dangerous /contagious ones...but that's just me.  I wouldn't want to 'do that' to the society which has allowed me to live in relative freedom and safety.   
     Unfortunately, I know waaay too much about drug-resistant tuberculosis, STD's, scary viruses and deadly prion diseases to treat incoming infected patients 'lightly'.  My left arm is still hurting from yesterday's Hep A and Hep B (TWINRIX) so I can be a least somewhat protected in my MRC (Medical Reserve Corps) work.  Why don't YOU and YOURS get YOUR inoculations and vaccinations ALSO?  That would help protect everyone!
     Now for a note to you 'Progressive-Libs' and your carelessness with your illegal alien harboring policies.  I take this very personally, since we will be 'called up' in the event of a biological outbreak of some sort by something someone like YOU has allowed to be brought into this country.  With all the human smuggling and trafficking going on, you can guess where my mind is going.  I really do not have any words of encouragement as long as illegals reach America daily, under the radar and with a 'wink-wink' from the current Obama Administration.
     And here's a special note for my LGBT/Gay Marriage Progressive-Libs 'friends':  I know that everything is LGBT/Gay Marriage rights to you, but in the event that you can get a small respite from your TUNNEL VISION, I just want to tell you that you are going to have a bit of a problem come election time. 
     Seriously, anyone who is immunocompromised (due to the HI Virus or anything else) needs to take this CDC report and others like it very seriously.  Consider how the importation of infectious disease will affect the LGBT community.  First, your risk of infection is  higher overall, we know.  http://www.cdc.gov/nchhstp/newsroom/docs/FastFacts-MSM-FINAL508COMP.pdf  The 'bad news' is that if imported diseases turn out to be more along the lines of Dengue fever, time and resources may well be diverted away from HIV AIDS medical research. 
     The 'good news' , however, is that if HIV AIDS turns out to be one of the diseases that skyrockets in the United States with continued influx of illegals--from Africa with it's sky-high HIV+ rates, perhaps--then HIV AIDS research may well be put on a fast track. http://www.cdc.gov/nchhstp/newsroom/docs/FastFacts-MSM-FINAL508COMP.pdf  (Please, please pray for young girls and women in Africa who are being violated and infected everyday in a most detestable way, thank you, for the sake of 'war')
     We can only wait and see and we must all be prepared to deal with and pay for whatever continual illegal immigration will bring and that's all there is to it. 
      And yet another note to the ABORTION Progressive Libs:  If for a moment you can break away from the TUNNEL VISION of ABORTION RIGHTS, please be sure that ALL the gals you abort get COMPLETE medical care in the event that they are infected-- especially if they are illegal aliens who you may be harboring.  Protect the health of yourself and your families by keeping current with boosters and testing, too.  Oh, you're going to have a heck of a time with reporting STD's to government agencies, since patients will be loathe to disclose sex partners who may not be here legally.  You are likely contributing to the burgeoning rise in  drug-resistant gonorrhea, etc., already, but it will get worse on our present course.   Not a pretty moral or ethical picture for you, my dear Abortion Rights 'friends', but you'll manage.
      Back to the rest of us: I'm not complaining about anything here, actually, but I am just being pragmatic.  It's just that I never thought being a biochemist such as myself would have the pertinence and relevance it does nowadays.  As one who had the wool pulled over her eyes by the UCC-the Obama/Wright church, I am a little shy about overplaying my hand.
     But the nerdy little girl who enjoyed Ignatz Semmelweis (of 'child-bed fever fame) for light summer reading knows all too well  of the great 'efficiency and efficacy' human beings have to thoroughly foul their own nests.  Some do it quite profoundly and depressingly repeatedly and I'm not sure if 'we' can do anything to stop them without compromising our own moral and ethical boundaries. 
     Still, we do well to remember that even Jesus got riled up and 'mixed it up but good' at the temple when he saw what was going on and in the end, God tells us that 'inaction is not an option' if we intend to be decent, sentient creatures. 
     Thus I press the point once again:  There is a way to be compassionate about those wishing to emigrate here without relinquishing our intelligence.  Will you join me in formulating and implementing that way?

Dear Ones:
     I am taking the opportunity of the July 4, 2010 to put my passions into action and endorsing certain candidates who I feel will help our country make the 'come-back' it so desperately needs.  Yes, I have fought the good fight for civil rights, gender equality, gay rights and a 'welcome to America, you who wish to become US Citizens'-type visitors. 
     Those of you who know me are aware of my lifelong work with the homeless and the mentally ill and substance abusers, as well .  Now here are a few interesting things I would like to share with you, stemming from my almost 60 years on this good earth, which relate directly to politics today.
     I once supported 'burning our bras', while reserving the right and need to KEEP MINE ON!  I was even one of the first females in high school (if not the first!...nerd/tomboy that I was) to wear pants.
     I once supported ready availability of birth control (with abortion providing being a minor feature of care back then, for it was yet a big 'taboo') by supporting Planned Parenthood.  Ever the scientist, I was a 'modern, logical, socially aware, atheist/agnostic' back then.  My sensitivities were tweaked as I learned more about conception, gestation, viability and birth.  By the time my daughter was born at age 31, I fully realized the 'lie' about fetuses being 'nothing more than products of conception' (as PP calls them).
     Subsequent soaring ABORTION RATES lead to my working for a crisis pregnancy group where I learned for a fact that ABORTIONS WERE BEING PERFORMED ON NON-PREGNANT WOMEN merely for the money!  Needless to say, this prompted me to action, just as the 'Abortion Industry' was getting it's hackles up over all this.  After getting baptized by water and becoming a Christian at age 37, it was clear that my greatest service would come from my assisting mothers and their 'unwanted babies' and by facilitating adoptions, when appropriate. 
     I do a great deal quietly, behind the scenes.  No need for me to 'get in your face' or 'foist my lifestyle' on YOU or ANYONE ELSE  (as GLBT and Black Liberation Theology groups seem to do today) at all.
     See what I'm getting at?  I am capable of great action, but I'm also FLEXIBLE.  When I follow my passion, I don't toss aside my decency, good common sense, my intuition, my intelligence, my discernment, my questioning, my analyzing, my researching and most of all my consultation with the Most High...God.  It's called being OPEN-MINDED and WILLING TO CHANGE...WHILE LISTENING TO THE CALL OF GOD. 
     GOD sure IS 'still speaking' to me.  This is the UCC GLBT/BLT 'catchphrase', this "Still Speaking" campaign...And God is telling me to SPEAK UP.  So HERE YOU GO!
     I persistently erred on the side of 'giving the benefit of the doubt' with Civil Rights.  I never for a single minute of my life had a ounce of the WHITE GUILT so many are yet slave to today.  The way I was raised by my parents, it was simply understood that all races are equal.  And we, as whites, always came down on the side of any darker-skinned persons in the event of legitimate controversy.  I was Ms. Civil Rights until things in the USA in the 1990's started to get a little....different.
     I noted the controversey of Rev. Martin Luther King's so-called 'doctorate'.  Why does no one speak of it?  As both a student-grad and undergrad and then as a college teaching assistant myself, plagiarism was anathema to everything my academia stands for.  And from a 'minister', no less.
     I noted things like the Tawana Brawley episode with Rev. Al Sharpton and began to wonder.  I encountered fierce racism as a lone white at the Salvation Army Headquarter in Stamford, CT...but still, I persisted in forgiving with understanding, still believing that we could all rise above our differences. 
     I joined the Obama/Wright Church and found just how badly I'd been 'bamboozled' on race.  This cadre wants not equality, but domination.  This cadre wants not respect, but retribution.  This cadre wants not recognition, but reparations....and so forth.  Just look at the news today with the New Black Panthers, for instance, intimidating people at polling places.  Look at ACORN and company.  Look at the Congressional Black Caucus.  This is the 'civil rights' movement of today and it makes me wonder if I all my earlier civil rights activism was for naught.

      But, I am wiser now, and as I said above, I am flexible on my 'passions', never suspending my scrutiny of even the best 'story' and 'tale' and case plead anywhere.
     For this reason, it has been difficult for me to be political, let alone endorse anyone.  But that has all changed and I can thank the United Church of Christ for that, believe it or not.  (I won't bore you all again with my tale of woe about how Senator Obama kicked his Presidential Campaign off (or did he?) at a church meeting or all the politicking I was forced to endure during Worship!--you can read it elsewhere here.)
     But I will point out one of scores of things that makes me so proud to be able to endorse and recommend MARTHA DEAN for CONNECTICUT ATTORNEY GENERAL.  And my 'little' item here means nothing to those who don't understand, but to me, it goes right  to my heart.

     You see, I am from a military family.  I once went to a CT UCC Meeting with our local pastor and the moderator (who runs the church, along with the Sr. Deacon, in the absence of the pastor).  There were numerous PETITIONS laid out on tables all over the convention hall...all what I now know to be the pap of the PROGRESSIVE LIBS who are intent on destroying our American Way of Life.  The UCC is a socio-politico-religious breeding ground for the new left, in fact, 'hiding in plain sight' all along.  How I did not see it, I simply do not know.
     What harm, I thought back then, of all these anti-war, anti-Israel-in-the-guise-of-being "Pro-Palestinian", 'greenie', pro-abortion-in-the-guise-of 'womens'-rights, and so forth UCC PETITIONS and UCC RESOLUTIONS all around the room?  That was poor thinking on my part, but thank God for my eventual powers of observation.  Everyone...and I mean EVERYONE from my home church and all around us signed this ANTI-GUN PLEDGE ( PETITION/PLEDGE/PROMISE ) TO NEVER OWN A HAND GUN OR ANY GUN AT ALL.
      I was actively encouraged to sign that thing and all I could do was shrug.  As others (not the two from my home church who knew better than to 'push' me) persistenly hassled me over my not signing a pledge to GOD to NEVER own a GUN....I think that was the first emergence of my new and improved mindset.  My American and personal RIGHTS were being assaulted in my own church!  Thus, I am sharing this all with you so that you will avoid the deceit I encountered, should you venture into a similar setting. 
     I told my pastor flat out that I would NEVER sign anything like that.  Putting aside that 'swearing anything to or in the name of God' is antithetical to Biblical initiative, I explained, I am MARRIED to a MARINE for Pete's sake...and I have a family full of servicemembers.  My own father not only owned, carried and collected firearms for military and then business-sake, but he shot for SPORT with all the 'uniformed guys' at his range.  I was to SWEAR OFF MY HERITAGE because of something this Obama/Wright church was PUSHING ON ME?  WHAT?  DOESN'T MY WAY OF LIFE COUNT FOR ANYTHING? 
     NO WAY!  I guess maybe I shouldn't have been so 'polite and quiet and thoughtful' about my conservative views because it sure hit the fan when I started sharing my view of things.  The arrogance of those now in power is profound and like nothing I have ever seen in the USA in my lifetime.

     Then there was the time that I was 'Worship Leader' a few years ago in my UCC church, wherein our 'guest member/clergyperson' who was delivering the sermon that day, asked me to lead a group reading of some UCC Resolution decrying the Iraq war.  This clergymember SPRUNG this on me the day of the service.  At the lectern, I declared that I was not in accord with this, prompting said clergyperson to lead the collective reading himself. Basically it was a declation that the whole effort in Iraq was 'wrong and useless' and that to support it was 'evil and wrong'.

     No harm done at the moment, and we agreed to disagree.  But inwardly, I was agonized,  for just hours before that service and the days before, I not only had upclose and personal interaction with local military personnel back from Iraq and now back in CT, but I had actually 'treated' and did a dressing change on a U.S. Marine for cellulitis he'd contracted in Gitmo (after two tours in Iraq, I might add) guarding feces and urine-flinging 'detainees'....SEMPER FI!

     I overcame my distaste for my church's blatant disregard for my support of our troops and wounded warriors and maintained my fondness for the clergyperson who'd 'set me up' in my own church.  If ever it was clear to me that I was in a group opposed to all traditional American values and support of our military, the UCC I was in was it.

     Which brings me back to MARTHA DEAN FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL.  Now I know for a fact that Martha is a gun supporter.  She has said so and she supports a person's right to legally own and bear arms.  This singular, simple statement of position prompted me to learn more about Martha and the many OTHER ways I am certain she will help me to preserve and honor my heritage, my family's way-of-life with my patriotic duties uninterfered with.  MARTHA DEAN will help to assure that people such as myself have the same rights, at least as everyone else in America today.  She will support our servicemembers and DoD workers.
     I want you to take a look at what Martha is all about and let me know if you don't, also, believe that she is the woman for the job of CONNECTICUT ATTORNEY GENERAL.  She is a woman good for her word and while promoting equality, she will help assure that those who are NOT all up into the 'progressive-leftie-agenda' have our RIGHTS assured, too! 
     An Attorney General such as Martha would help me sleep better at night, knowing that the law promising that I can live in peace and respect as a white, hetero, Christian female.  I want to know that I may  worship freely without interference and harassment from those who pretend to be like me, but are not and those who pretend to 'support me', but do not. And I want there to be no 'blurring' of the line between church and state.  I want to know that my hard-earned money--wherever it is 'donated'--be it to a church or charity or political organization-- is used as promised and not 'waylaid' by corrupt partisans.
     May God Bless all the TEA PARTY PATRIOT CANDIDATES this and upcoming election cycles. They support what people such as myself yearn for these days.  We have rights, too, and we want to preserve our way of life for our children and grandchildren.  
      May those who seek to 'suppress and redistribute' what they steal from good American citizens as they support America's enemies, fail utterly.  I pray for the day God will resurrect this country and help us back to good-standing with those the current progressive-lib administration has alienated.  We must stand with our allies in this world today, working always for peace and harmony and love.
     A new day is coming.  Join me, saying,
"NOT GOD DAMN AMERICA, BUT GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
It's time to clean out an infection politics today and start anew with that which is fresh and clean and pure and....FAIR FOR ALL....as we obey the laws of our fine country.
