"But, truth be told, I find myself half-consciously rooting for Tebow to fail. I cheer for the blitzing linebacker as he is about to HAMMER Tebow into the ground, hoping I guess that evangelical Christianity will taste some humble pie in the process."

     Today was an interesting day.  My 16 year-old Catholic granddaughter slept over and we had an opportunity to have a refreshing and fun breakfast together before 'Grandma' got busy on the serious work 'of the day'.
     It's Sunday, you see, and what I thought would be a perfect opportunity to inform and prepare my granddaughter for what she may well be exposed to in the coming week regarding one paranoid Rabbi Joshua Hammerman and his unbridled attack on all things Christian.

     I described things beforehand, told her of Hammerman's 'apologists' (The Interfaith Council of SW CT and many at Temple Beth El) and how they not only don't 'defend Christians', but instead, call Hammerman the 'victim'.

     Then I read her lengthy passages of Hammerman's and my own writings.  (She doesn't like you for this, Josh, and I don't blame her!)
     I told her that Rabbi Josh says she is likely to 'burn mosques, bash gays and trash immigrants'.

     "Rabbi Josh 'knows' and speaks for a lot of Jews.  Rabbi Josh knows exactly how 'we Christians' will react to any given situation, you see", I told her.
     After she read a bit, I solicited her opinion about things, asking, specifically, if all this brouhaha seems like the mere 'ramblings' of a Rabbi who 'misspoke' on the spur of the moment, 'clumsily' and so on and so forth.
     The answer was, "NO".
     Well now.  My granddaughter is one 'smart cookie'!
     Clearly, she feels as I do, which is, that Rabbi Josh, Temple Beth El, his 'apologists' and, most of all The Interfaith Council of SW CT are taking us for FOOLS!
     This entire interaction was no small accomplishment for a 'mere' Sunday morning, if I do say so myself.

     I concluded with the admonition that 'what Grandma Barb writes on the Internet will be around for a long time and I just wanted her to hear about all of this in context, so that she can understand what is truly happening right now.'
     But in reality, there is more than this.
     I included a warning to my granddaughter that in Progressive Liberal Connecticut, there are those who would bring destruction upon the 'Christian' way of life.  Even more, I elaborated, the Rabbi Hammermans of the world seem to single out Catholics in particular as a target for their repellent 'invectives'.  This is a 'thing' that they 'do' even in their phoney 'apologies' for transgressions against Christians, in fact:
     I showed my granddaughter the piece where Temple Beth El's Rabbi Hammerman essentially categorizes all Catholic clergy as those who are 'into' the 'raping of little boys'.

     Now my granddaughter (and daughter and all the young, middle-aged and elderly people in my life) is/are informed that not everyone is enchanted with our 'Christian way of life'.
     Now we know to beware of Rabbi Joshua Hammerman, the powers-that-be at Temple Beth El, the Stamford press who has chosen to 'ignore' all of this and, most especially, The Rev. Katie Hechler and The Interfaith Council of SW CT.  Here's her letter of support for Hammerman:

     These are not people who will support our God-given and United States law 'protected' right to freedom of religion!
     But those I counsel are wiser now...more educated and aware.  I tell them I'm 'grateful for the warning' let loose by Hammerman's 'hate-writings'.
     Never again will any of us in this Progressive Liberal area of the country take our religious rights for granted--well, not as long as Rabbi Joshua Hammerman and his apologists hold sway, at least.
     And that was what transpired at breakfast this morning, for me and my Catholic granddaughter.
     We had a quiet meal punctuated only by the rancid exclusivity put forth by those claiming to be 'open, inclusive and affirming' and we saw right through it!
     Like many breakfasts, it turned out to be 'same stuff, different day', except that one I love is now empowered and will be able to 'deal with' those who would profer forth 'Hammerman Eugencs'.
     Then in an effort to embolden and uplift my granddaughter, I reminded her of all the 'good' in the world and of all the 'good people' around us--Christian and Jew and otherwise--including one brave Sheldon Katz who is a congregant of Temple Beth El.

Q:  When is an apology NOT an apology?

A:   When it is a fatuous, disingenuous, paranoid one from Rabbi Hammerman and it DISAPPEARS!!

     Such is the case with a now-expunged so-called 'apology' Rabbi Joshua Hammerman put forth at one time.  I feel that it bears re-publication here, again, since the Interfaith Council of SW CT has unanimously decided to DEFEND and PLAY APOLOGIST for this errant Rabbi.

     The Interfaith Council of SW CT has deemed it proper to deem the attacks on Rabbi Hammerman as unjustified.

     I don't think so.

     Even worse, The Interfaith Council of SW CT has deemed it proper to posit Hammerman as the 'victim' while choosing to excuse the massive amount of writing the not-so-good Rabbi has published in his zealous anti-Christian bigotry as a true Christianophobe.

     The original 'apology' disappeared because Rabbi Hammerman obliterated his 'blog'.  (Wonder why?)  In fact, the entire 'Hammerman-Tebow' thing flared up mid-December 2011, when 'sleepy Stamford' was in the midst of holiday preparations and celebrations...And while the pall of a terrible Christmas fire tragedy hung heavily on all our hearts.

     Sure enough, while the world noticed, we here only recently learned of Hammerman's anti-Christian campaign.  But, rest assured, thanks to the marvels of the modern internet, here is this faux-apology and more, in toto.

     As you read it with fresh eyes, note the 'cheap shot' Hammerman takes with his 'raping little boys comment'.  I guess verbiage like this is just 'second-nature' for the Progressive Liberal religious sector around here.

      But, while Rev. Katie Hechler and her Interfaith Council of SW CT may deem this perfectly acceptable rhetoric from a member of the clergy, I certainly do not and even Hammerman's so-called 'apology' offends.

     It's important that Rabbi Hammerman understand that not all Christians, evangelical or otherwise, seek to 'convert him', myself included.  This is a matter of 'discernment'.

     And somebody should remind the Rabbi that here in the United States of America, he must respect the right of all to practice the religion of their choice, and that it is the LAW!

     Though clearly Hammerman is not a friend of Christians, surely G-d can change his heart.

     G-d can assure that Hammerman learns to live with those who are different from himself, and to do so without feeling 'threatened'...here in Connecticut or wherever in the world he may be.  But this can only happen if the Rabbi has an 'epiphany'.

     Perhaps a miracle will occur and G-d will impel Hammerman to change his ways.

     I hopeful, but I'm also a realist.

     I know that to allow Rabbi Joshua Hammerman's words, sentiments and actions and those of his apologists to go 'unchecked' in the very city where all this anti-Christian hate talk originated is very, very wrong.

     It is just not right to repeatedly attempt to sweep unclean things under the proverbial rug.

Herewith is Hammerman's 'apology':     

“My Tebow piece is generating the expected outrage from the evangelical right (cant’ wait for Jews to begin chiming in!)”

“I was careful in my comments not to accuse Tebow himself of potentially destructive acts but to suggest that a perceived divine mandate for Tebow could inspire mischief among the zealous evangelical right. Unfortunately, mosque burnings have already occurred in this country (and a notable Quran burning too). All it takes is one crazy person.”

“As for Tebow, he has done extraordinary things. His love for people is unbounded. His entire life’s work is also predicated on saving my soul for Jesus. He’s not alone in this. Tebow has been affiliated with the Southern Baptists, who spend millions to convert Jews, often deceptively.”

“I personally don’t consider that exemplary behavior. Is it better than raping little boys? Absolutely. But is it admirable? I have issues with anyone determined to save my soul, be that person Christian or Jewish. And when they are going after the souls of our kids on college campuses, with a multimillion dollar budget that puts the Jewish community’s education budgets to shame, I do think it is cause for concern.      This is a man who 'lives to write' and he will undoubtedly keep on writing, come what may.
     There are no 'mere slips of the pen' or 'clumsy words and actions' for Rabbi Joshua Hammerman, for he writes what he believes...

 Dear Readers:
     Recently, a Stamford, CT Rabbi Joshua Hammerman received worldwide attention for his long-winded Christianophobic rant against, of all people, the Denver Bronco's QB Tim Tebow.
     It seems that Rabbi Hammerman has such an intense hatred for Tebow, and for Tebow's evangelical Christian faith in particular, that the only solution Hammerman can think of is to suggest that Tebow's mom should have killed her son in utero.
     Yes, you read that right.
     Abortion advocate Hammerman goes on at length in his twisted piece, opining on Tebow's mom's pregnancy with Tim and finally giving her some truly hateful 'advice'.  Obviously he has given this a great deal of thought and spent a great amount of time writing what he did. (ABOVE)
     Apparently Tebow's mom's decision really bothers Rabbi Josh Hammerman, who says:
"Tebow's mother, a Baptist missionary, became comatose during her pregnancy, and was saved by drugs that nearly killed the fetus.  Doctors anticipated a stillbirth and recommended termination to protect her life, but Tim's mother refused to abort.  Trumpeting that decision, mother and son appeared in commercials for 'Focus On The Family' during this past season's Super Bowl." (ABOVE)
     Hammerman then reveals the real reason why he hates Mrs. Tebow's refusal to abort her son Tim:

"Now Tiny Tim has grown and is on track to appear in this season's Super Bowl-on the field-and that is what scares me."  (ABOVE)

     To add insult to injury, Hammerman caps his phobic rhetoric with the almost unspeakable by suggesting that Tim would have been better off 'exterminated' in his mother's womb, so that he (Hammerman) would not have to be subjected to the 'Tim Tebows' of the world:

"His mom's decision to risk her own life rather than abort her fetus flies against my own-and Judaism's-values, but neither am I pro-choice in all cases."

     Is it me, or is this just plain 'creepy' coming from a paranoid Rabbi?  I've stated before how repugnant I think Rabbi Hammerman's pontification towards a pregnant Christian woman is.  I'm amazed it even got 'approved' at all by editors at 'The Jewish Week' (though they might be trying to tell us something).
     But this suggestion that it is 'better that Christians kill their fetuses' before they are even born is downright evil.
     Someone needs to, first of all, remind Hammerman of the right to freedom of religion we all enjoy here in the United States of America.  Maybe that would help him take a 'chill pill' on this subject once and for all.
     Also, someone needs to 'counsel' this warped Rabbi and his 'eugenics solution' for evangelical Christians and give him a 'morality' check, but good.
     Yes, Hammerman has a right to vent in this manner, I suppose.  But, no, he does not have the right to go unchallenged by those such as myself.
     For now, Rabbi Joshua Hammerman is apparently receiving tremendous majority support (except for the few of us) by not only his congregation at Temple Beth El in Stamford, CT...but by the Stamford community, itself.  Perhaps there is even a certain degree of 'ignorance of the facts' about Hammerman's hate-speech, which he originally published in the midst of the holidays while Stamford's attention was focused on other things, including a tragic Christmas fire where lives were lost.
     But it is also possible that most will 'go along with' the unanimous, unconditional support of The Rev. Katie Hechler and The (progressive liberal) Interfaith Council of SW CT.

     Sure there are lots of 'apologetics' here for this renegade Rabbi who are sanctifying all of Rabbi Hammerman's anti-Christian bigotry as nothing more than a 'slip of the pen' and a 'momentary lapse of proper word usage'.
     But as for me...I'm not buying it, nor his 'phony apology', either.

     Oh, boy.  We will need a lot of healing here, as we consider the simple question:
     Is Tim Tebow gay?

     I feel this is his business, but anti-Christian bigots' are attacking poor Tim for his Christianity by attempting to 'out' him online.

     I wonder what 'Hammerman Jews' have to say about about this?

     Do they believe it will 'help' their 'gay marriage industry' somehow?

     This seems like pretty poor treatment at the hands of the LGBT community of 'one of their own', if their assertions are correct about Tebow.

     But I believe (hope) these LGBT Christianophobes are relatively few in number and are merely 'guessing' about Tim's sexual orientation, which they are using as justification to taunt and be cruel to him as only they can be to their 'own'.

     I've seen something akin to this before in churches--gays attempting to 'out' closeted gays in order to fatten their ranks for one socio-political reason or others--thinking this was 'okay'.

     Well, it wasn't okay and some people needed to be protected.

     And this public bullying is over the top, in my opinion.

     But circumstantially, at least,  it looks like Tim's 'outing' by the LGBT community is intended to serve as his 'punishment' for being 'too religious'.

     I've written a number of pieces already on this and will be addressing Rabbi Hammerman's unhealthy and cruel obsession with Tim Tebow's mother and her apparently 'at-risk' pregnancy.
     I have a strong stomach, but Rabbi Josh's 'spiritual commentary' (as if he had a prayer) for Tim Tebow's mom chills me to the bone.
     How dare a man...let alone a Jewish clergyman...'pontificate' to a Christian woman who is carrying and already in love with her unborn child, about whether or not her child is worth 'saving'?
     I have a friend whose mother was told in the eighth month of pregnancy that her child 'had a big, boxy head'.  His mother was inclined to follow 'doctors' orders and have a late-term abortion.
     Fortunately for my friend, his Aunt (his mother's sister) intervened and my friend was born...
     And, yes, with a 'big, boxy head'.  But he is alive and is a wonderful, able and super intelligent person!
     For now, focus on the Rabbi's Christianophobia, which alone is cause for concern.  But as you read about this burgeoning story, please remember what you have read here and that those who intend to do 'evil' are attempting to purge all this from the Internet.
     Who can blame them?  But I, for one, don't want to see that happen.

     No doubt about it.  This is one case where no ministry IN THE WORLD can begin any healing before the repugnant pimple of prejudice is 'popped', cleared, cleaned and prevented from 're-appearing'.
     I know in my heart that Jews in Stamford and CT don't hate Christians as much as Rabbi Hammerman would have us believe.
     But for those who so obviously support exactly this sort of anti-Christian bigotry BY YOUR SILENCE (take note Interfaith Council of SW CT, of whom Rabbi Hammerman is a stalwart member)...
     We are not about to sit by silently, complacently and acquiescently, for any of this.
     Rabbi Hammerman's quick and stealthy 'retraction' and pseudo-apology tells us all we need to be aware of what is and what may come.

Dear Ones:
     This is upsetting, yes, but it is hardly surprising in liberal Stamford, CT that this type of thing should originate here.
     But, Rabbi Joshua Hammerman of Temple Beth El recently 'went off', as many Progressive Libs are wont to do as if it is their birthright.  He raled on 'those not like himself'...and on those who do not hold to 'his particular social justice values'.
     The Rabbi's blog is called, ironically, 'On One Foot: Joshua Hammerman's Blog.  Unfortunately Rabbi Josh, you don't have a FOOT to stand on with your anti-Christian rant.

     I am very used to hearing from religious leaders with Rabbi Hammerman's mindset, especially ever since he played a major role in some ill-conceived interfaith shenanigans in the 'interfaith community'.

     But recently, Rabbi Hammerman's blew it bigtime!  Even I was surprised when he decided to zero in on all moderate/conservative CHRISTIANS in a very unkind (and weird) way by saying,

"If Tebow wins the Super Bowl, against all odds, it will buoy his faithful, and emboldened faithful can do insane things, like burning mosques, bashing gays and indiscriminately banishing immigrants."
     WHAT IN HEAVEN'S NAME ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, RABBI JOSH HAMMERMAN?  HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND? 
     Not surprisingly, 'Jewish Week' pulled Rabbi Hammerman's article and the good Rabbi offered an 'apology'.

not because they wanted to, but because they had to.
     Popular outrage saw to that.
     Be that as it may, it is worthwhile for people of ALL faiths (as well as for all atheists/agnostics) to educate themselves about the anti-Christian/anti-religion bigotry that is running rampant today.
     I, myself,  never realized that Rabbi Josh was such a Christianophobe.  He certainly successfully hid it from me in the 22+ years I have been acquainted with him via the faith community.
     But do draw your own conclusions.  May God grant us the ability to live together peaceably, if it is at all possible.
     To my fellow Christians, I say learn and be wiser.  Then do as Jesus would do.  
     Be smart about those who intend us harm and be as agreeable and understanding as possible with those who are 'different than ourselves'.
     Forgive Rabbi Josh Hammerman and sin not as he has in thought, mind, word and deed.

     I don't literally expect any responses, though any at all would be welcome. And I expect authorities are curious, too, as to just WHAT has been going on in Stamford, CT and environs, since we are so very close to Ground Zero in New York City, N.Y. 
     To my questions: Have the Interfaith Council 'people'--having now been hosted at the First Congregational Church of Stamford several times over--been DELIBERATELY 'sponsoring' those who gave 'spiritual succor' to The Times Square Bomber, Faisal Shadzah?

     Are those at the North Stamford Congregational Church doing the same?  Or are they doing a better job of determining just WHOM they are giving 'refuge' to and 'standing in support with'?
     Have all these PRO-MUSLIM, PRO NYC GROUND ZERO MOSQUE PROPONENTS under the leadership of the Reverends Cari (Carrie, Carrietta) Jackon, Kate Heichler, Mark Lingle as well as Rabbis Josh Hammerman and others VETTED those they have so enthusiastically 'saddled up with'?

     I really don't know.  I think they should just give us all a good 'yes or no', since MOST polite citizens are much too reticent to even bring anything up.  They're afraid. 
     Quite frankly, Islam in Connecticut and all over the United States scares the dickens out of people, and so they will not 'engage'.  To my way of thinking, this is 'giving into' fear and intimidation and has no place in the America I love as a PROUD TEA PARTY PATRIOT.
     Have the IMAMS attending these recent Southwestern CT Interfaith Counsel 'prayer vigils' been UP FRONT with those who have sponsored pro-Muslim, pro-NYC GROUND ZERO Mosque vigils on their behalf? 
      Have they KNOWN Times Square Bomber FAISAL SHAHZAD and what he was up to PERSONALLY?
     Have these Stamford, Norwalk, Shelton and Bridgeport Imams been HONEST and FORTHCOMING with LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL about what they do or do not know about any alleged terror suspects or not? 
     I sure want to know.

     I would find it very difficult to believe that the Fairfield County, CT Imams have NO KNOWLEDGE WHATSOEVER of this 'very religious' Times Square Bomber Faisal Shahzad...And if they did, well...that doesn't SAY much about them as anyone's 'religious adviser', does it? 
     They're supposed to 'know' their congregants and be honorable when it comes to 'mandated reporting'.  We ALL are.  There are times when 'the greater good' does, indeed, allow for flexibility of confidentiality issues WHEN LIVES ARE AT STAKE, and plans of terrorism are definitely exceptions to confidentiality for religious advisers in my book.     
     But I am being forthright and speaking 'plainly' when others will not.  All I pray for is that the TRUTH be revealed and that those who present as a threat to American citizens be brought to justice swiftly and unrelentingly.
     I think the quote that will catch your eye the most, is one from good old Wikipedia:

     I guess it just 'creeps me out' that some undocumented, unvetted Muslims are allowed to cry foul from my old church steps (FCC Stamford) without so much as any UCC Pastors checking them out, or maybe even doing something worse.  Call me 'sentimental', but that's just how I feel.
     Or maybe they DID check out Sharia lawyer Midhat Syed and all the Fairfield County Imams and they're 'okay' with the likes of  Stamfordite Terrorist Faisal Shahzad?  If that's the case, we have a problem, Houston. 
     Shahzad worked in Stamford FOR NINE YEARS.  Are you going to tell me that NO ONE knew what the guy was UP TO?
     Right.  I guess the 'host' denomination of all this--the UCC which got President Obama elected--is inclined to promote some less than savory characters.  I know I don't need to remind you of all those 'Obama is a Muslim' rumors; they are what they are.
     I have written before of 'former Muslims-turned-UCC (United Church of Christ) Ministers such as Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who is a close associate of Nation of Islam Minister Louis Farrakhan.   
     By now, you know where I am coming from.
     I just thought that on the September 11, 2010-eve, you--my fellow residents of Stamford-would like to know what's going on.
     If it's any consolation, I promised my kids and grandkids that I will fight like hell to leave them a better world. 
     That'll mean a better one for yours, too.

     Amidst the 'debate' over the building of a Ground Zero Mosque in NYC, I have to point out that the Muslim population in the USA has a 'PUBLICITY PROBLEM' of GARGANTUAN PROPORTIONS. 
     Heaven knows Catholics, Christians, Jews, Mormons, Hindus, Scientologists, Christian Scientists, The Salvation Army, Buddhists, pagans, Wiccans and others have had their own PESKY PUBLICITY PROBLEMS.  They did what they needed to do: they addressed things openly and in good faith, generally allowing the 'better angels' of American citizens to prove just how much we value the concept of 'freedom of religion'.
     But Islam as it is practiced in the United States today has a real problem.  They really DO need a good 'PUBLIC RELATIONS PERSON' to help clean up their image, tune-up their 'SENSITIVITY meter' and--while they're at it--start addressing some of the apparent 'STICKING POINTS' based on the Quran, upon which the very lives of the mosque builders are based.
     This is logical, isn't it? 
      Hasn't the Catholic church 'dealt with' it's pedophilia problems? 
     Haven't the progressive-lib Dem Protestants dealt with their obsessive lobbying for all things LGBT in the face of more traditional hetero-oriented marriage-minded people? 
      Haven't the Jews in America had to address the 'perception that they run certain industries' and what to do with Palestine? 
     Why, yes, they have.  Even the Hare Krishnas had to deal with airport and bells and flowers issues in years past...AND THEY DID IT!
     This brings us back to Muslims in America and their p.r. problem.  There is scant 'reaching out' BY THEM and unusually scant OPEN DEBATE by non-Muslims.  Why this is so is central to the current Muslim p.r. problem itself, that is: Islam is a religion that INTIMIDATES it's detractors.

     It seems like Islam is the only religion in the modern world--and even in America--where people who ordinarily have opinions on everything simply CLAM UP. 
     Maybe they have that 'cartoonist' in mind.  Maybe they are afraid of terrorists. 
     When Bibles, American flags and effigies of American officials are burned here and overseas, it's 'OKAY'.  But why is it that when it comes to Muslim affairs, everyone either CLAMS UP or gives Muslims a hardy thumbs-up? 
      I'm not saying that I condone the burning of the Quran any more than I would advocate the burning of ANY sacred texts, as it is just 'disrespectful'.  Also, the 'PRAGMATIC CHRISTIAN AMERICAN' in me allows me the SELF-CONTROL to not go 'ballistic' each and every time something 'I like' is disrespected.  I consider the source, pray on it and give it to God.

     A religion of intimidation is anathema to all things American.  Whether it's Quran/American Flag/Effigy burning or jamming a NYC Ground Zero Mosque down our throats, there is no excuse for 'bullying in the name of religion'.
     As for American Muslims (I'm assuming all the players here are not illegal aliens or anything, of course) if you REALLY want to FOSTER UNDERSTANDING, you should REACH OUT to your non-Muslim brothers and sisters in a non-threatening way.

      Muslims in America should APPEAL to Americans if they wish to assimilate here, not the other way around.  They need to soundly  CONDEMN radical, anti-American Muslims in a way that is unequivocal.  They need to be sensitive to our hurts and needs pertaining to Sept 11 and acknowledge our loss and they need to console us.
     I'm not the dullest bulb in the pack, but to this day I have seen very little of the above coming from the Muslim community here.  What I HAVE seen and heard is a list of what WE, as non-Muslim Americans MUST DO in order to accommodate THEM.
     One needn't be a theologian to realize that something is very wrong here.
     At the very least, Muslims in America need to answer questions about their activities in a truthful, verifiable way, just as other religions have.  You'd think this would be a priority of Imam's everywhere and especially with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, but it isn't.
     Most of all, remember that 'Freedom of Religion' means ALL religions in America, and not just Islam.  And don't forget that American's have every right in the world to be atheists and agnostics, as well.  Live and let live and all that, our  'dear American Muslim friends'. 
       Perhaps the NYC Ground Zero Cordoba could even take the lead from the Obama Presidential Campaign and launch a 'SMEARS' site to debunk all the MISINFORMATION they say is out there.  I'd sure like to see a 'non-Muslim-friendly' place like that to ILLUMINATE those of us who may be MISINTERPRETING or MISSING something.
     I'd like to see a site where MISCONCEPTIONS of these mosque builders are addressed, one of which is the Islamic practice of TAQIYA or TAQIYYA, which throws a 'monkey-wrench' into discussions even with the best of intentions.
     Plainly put, the Quran allows for lying under certain situations, it is said.  I'm sorry, but I just do not know any other way to 'define' what I have learned about TAQIYYA. 
     Coming from a faith perspective which so reviles any and all things related to 'lying' (indeed, Satan, himself, is called a 'liar and the father of all lies', "You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies."  John 8:44 (NIV)

     YOU can decide whether certain so-called 'Pro-Muslim Interfaith Outreach' efforts are the real deal, or if one or all parties are abusing the spiritual 'generosity' of America citizens for their own personal gains.
     I treasure the fact that God has set such very high standards for His CHRISTIAN SAINTS.  Indeed, the BEST and BRAVEST have been martyred for refusing to BEAR FALSE WITNESS.  It doesn't make for an easy life, necessarily, such 'TRUTHFULNESS'...but it sure does provide one with a good night's sleep in this shaky world today.

     In a swarmy, snarky sea of humankind, where LYING IS AS NATURAL AS BREATHING for so many, I must believe that there are some Christians and Jews who are truth-tellers.  EVERYONE can't be liars...can they?  I pray for those who at least, DO try the best they can to honor truth.  I try to be so myself and I teach others to live that way also--just don't confuse my kindness for stupidity, thank you very much.
     I pray that the Muslims who are at the center of so much discord, strife and argument in the United States of America today are like-minded.  I've already written that they've dropped off the radar in Southwestern CT after September 11, 2001.

     How telling that nine years later they are now suddenly REAPPEARING and causing CONTROVERSY all over the place.  For a religion supposedly so very interested in 'PEACE', I find it very curious that all they have wrought so far is discord.
     We're not about to get a handle on things any time soon, except to realize that 'majority American public opinion' doesn't mean anything to those determined to build the Ground Zero Mosque.  
     Scripture tells us--those of us who are Christian and Jewish, anyway--that 'even the elect will be deceived' in this time in history, "24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time." Mt 24:24-25 (NIV)
     I am not suggesting that NYC's Mayor Blumberg is one of the Jewish 'elect', except in the sense that he has been a pretty sharp Mayor for the city. 
     But perhaps the Scripture verse above is yet applicable to him as far as his 'to-date' strident, adamant and unrelenting advocacy of the NYC Ground Zero Mosque and all things pertaining to it.  I like to be able to 'make allowances' for people I like and 'trust' whenever they fly in the face of what the bulk of the populace is so solidly AGAINST (in this case that darnfangled Ground Zero Mosque, again).     Clearly we will have to be patient as events play out.  Until such time as we 'non-Muslim Americans' can finally discern the real truth,  here are two 'takes' on a very, VERY serious subject.  That subject is the Quran's apparent permission to be less than truthful in dealing with the non-Muslim world, especially:

3) Sometimes, taqiyya may cause a more important obligation to be lost or missed; if so it is forbidden. For example, when I know that silence would cause oppression and infidelity to spread and will make people go astray, in such a situation it is not permissible to be silent and to dissimulate.


4) Sometimes, taqiyya may lead to the death of an innocent person; if so, it is not permissible. It is therefore haram (forbidden) to kill a human being to save your own life.[citation needed

As for myself, a 22+ year member of the United Church of Christ--the Obama/Wright church--I always DID have my doubts about 'just how former as a Muslim' Reverend Jeremiah Wright really is.  And Reverend Wright's apparent AFFINITY for the NATION OF ISLAM http://www.noi.org/ , Minister Louis Farrakhan   and Col. Kaddafi  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muammar_al-Gaddafi  fuels my doubting. 
     I'm no Islamic scholar, but I always did believe from what I have learned that 'once a Muslim, always a Muslim'.  It is my understanding that anyone who attempts to divest themselves of their Muslim heritage is considered to be 'apostate'.

     How did Rev. Jeremiah Wright get away with it???
     I also wonder about President Obama.  I wonder who or what gave this fellow--clearly born of and  raised by a couple of  Muslim 'dad's'--how he got away with throwing off HIS Islamic mantle.
     Well, maybe I just don't get things because I am but a lowly woman.  No one like me is worth listening to anyway--a 'truth' I suspect any NYC Ground Zero Mosque Imam or Stamford Sharia lawyer would surely agree with.
