POCKET SERMON 10: "A SOLAR EVENT TUTORIAL-NOAA 11049 FROM ALPHA TO OMEGA"

Here we go! For those of you interested in things like this, I would like to take you on a journey with me as we 'track' the next most likely 'Solar Event' (solar flare activity) from beginning to end. "23May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it." 1Th 5:23-24 (NIV)

Right now it's quiet in space as far as the earth is concerned. Indeed, the Auroral Hemispheric Power Input (meaning the energy that is hitting and effecting the earth from events on the sun) is quite low as I write this. Here is what the Auroral Oval (map of how the power from the sun hits the earth) looks like this minute:
The Observed Auroral Hemispheric Power Input right now is 1.0 GW (GigaWatts=1 million Watts), as can be seen in the map above.
The red arrow indicates the 'direction' in which this Auroral Power is being directed and dissipated. In the event of a substantial Geomagnetic Storm (caused by energy from the sun ('Solar Events') the area in which the Auroral Power Input is directed can be expected to suffer from various degrees of all types of transmissions problems. This includes satellite communication signals and all technology that depends on them (radio, t.v., defense, you name it!).
A truly severe Geomagnetic Storm will also bombard the earth with x-rays, electrons, protons and other wave forms which can be detrimental to all life on earth. There will be lightning and thunder and tumultuous activity all over the globe. There will be events in the oceans and volcanic and sulfurous geyser eruptions. But for now, let's just concentrate on more relatively minor events on the sun and on earth.
7Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. 8Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. 9For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. 10The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth." 13At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. 14The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon."

Today, an area on the sun known as NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) is NOAA 11049. Here is a map of what it looks like:
This area of activity, NOAA 11049 is assigned a set of statistical values which indicate the likelihood of varying degrees of solar event 'discharge' or flare. These statistics are summarized as follows:
Probabilities: X(0%), M(15%), C( 36%), with X being the most intense event and C being the least. Astrophysicists can pretty much predict 'how bad' the effects of solar events will be on earth by monitoring and evaluating the intensity, frequency and total number of 'flares' from the various solar areas being observed....Or can they?
Right now, Solar Event Activity is categorized as "Very Low". From what I have observed, that means we are due for some events soon and they will likely be from NOAA 11049. I'll continue this tutorial as things progress--from solar event to the energy it manifests on earth in the form of the Auroral Hemispheric Oval Power Input.
We will be able to see the maps and charts change. And we will look at other means of analysis, in the form of graphs and tabulated results and the links to them, one of which is: http://www.visi.com/~brainiac/solar/
To sum things up, we have been notified that NOAA 11049 is about to flare up, and we will see how it affects our earth. I'll try to correlate this with earthquake activity for you, since it appears (to me as an astrophysics 'hobbyist') that the energy from the sun directed towards the earth manifests itself on earth as earthquake activity within 2-4.5 days
In terms of astronomical measurements, this is a miniscule amount of time, so for all intents and purposes, this solar and earth activity is virtually constant. Except for the scientists, we hardly even notice it, unless it hits the news or we read about it on the Internet. It is only during the most intense activity that our everyday lives might be affected, but we do not know how long or how well we will survive. In a sense this renders all of our data sort of 'useless', but such is the plight of mankind. If God wants us to 'know' anything, He is perfectly able to do so!
"16And the twenty-four elders, who were seated on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God, 17saying: "We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign. 18The nations were angry; and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints and those who reverence your name, both small and great— and for destroying those who destroy the earth." The truth is we can't really predict these things, let alone control them. We only think we can, in truth and our science is nothing more than an interesting exercise for the mind. Still, our technology does help us to at least partially understand the Powerful Judgment Our Creator God made for us in His Wisdom and Awesomeness. It's humbling even to ponder our fates, individually and collectively.
"19Then God's temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant. And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake and a great hailstorm." Rev 11:19 (NIV)
And all I can say is that if you are not right with the Lord, NOW is the time to take your transgressions to the Cross and reckon them dead. I've written about a marvelous and breathtaking experience. Surely none of us will want to miss being a part of it, thanks be to God!
