Prepares for Packing Party Saturday, May 28th
STAMFORD - Monday, SoldierSocks founder Christopher Meek of Stamford announced that the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation (the Council) awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award to SoldierSocks recognizing and honoring their "sustained commitment to civic participation, and inspiring others to make service a central part of their lives."
"Since our first shipment in July 2009, SoldierSocks has sent 30,000 pounds of tube socks, baby wipes and other necessities to soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan," said Meek. "While we are honored to be recognized by the Council, the real honor comes from serving the men and women fighting for our country each day"
"We have a tremendous group of dedicated volunteers and sponsors who have helped us succeed in our mission to deliver the bare necessities to the men and women serving in harm's way," said Meek. "I hope receiving this award will help us raise awareness and get more people involved."
