Rob Merkle
Candidate for Congress will have 'meet and greet' Rob Merkle, a challenger for the Republican nomination for the fourth Congressional District seat, will have a “meet and greet” next Tuesday, July 6, from 7 to 9 at the Ridgefield Recreation Center.
Organized by Ridgefielders Bob and Linda Lavelle the event is free and open to anyone interested in meeting Mr. Merkle, a Norwalk businessman who runs an executive search firm.
He is on the ballot in the Aug. 10 Republican primary against State Senator Dan Debicella of Shelton, who was endorsed by the Republican convention, and Rick Torres, a former candidate for mayor of Bridgeport.
It was hearing Mr. Merkle speak that inspired Ms. Lavelle, who had been unaffiliated, to get involved.
“I went to town hall and registered as a Republican so I can support him,” she said.

From Rev. Barb:
UPDATE: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/12/samuel-l-jackson-obama-vote-black_n_1271797.html
I've had several opportunities to speak with Rob Merkle 'one on one' and I have to say I am truly impressed with this fine young man. He has given me (yet another 'newly-involved-in-politics' type person who is horrified by what our country has become under President Obama) the hope I've sought for our beloved U.S.A. and for the future of our children and grandchildren.
I am hard to please, hold others to standards almost as high as those I hold for myself and I am incapable of 'false flattery' for anyone...friend, family or foe. Thus, when I say I endorse 'someone' in these upcoming elections, anyone who 'knows me', knows that I am speaking truthfully from my heart after praying for the wisdom and discernment to do so.
Life is a 'learning experience' like no other...and I've had to learn a great deal the 'hard way', especially as a member of the Obama/Wright church the UCC (United Church of Christ). I tried seventy times seven to forgive and forget the political improprieties therein. I gave my all with my work to further programs labeled as 'Open and Affirming', welcoming gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgendered persons. I fought race wars as I personally brought all sorts of people with all colors of skin to my church and suffered the consequences for it. I bought into 'the lie' that brought the current progressive-lib Administration and subsets of it 'into power'. And...I am now fighting against it.
Joining the TEA PARTY PATRIOTS, of which Rob Merkle is a member and by whom he is endorsed, is definitely an answer to the prayers of people such as myself. Please...if you value your personal freedoms and if you value TRUTH, itself, the time for CHANGE is NOW!
I'm not talking about the 'false change' of the last Presidential Campaign, which has turned out to be nothing more than a study of concentrated cronyism, disceit and crossing of all lines of politics/church/sex/money/morals and ethics. I talking a 'restorative change' which only the likes of Rob Merkle can bring us.
Vote for Rob if you've had it with the status quo. And Rob, if you are reading this, I wish you and your family, loved ones and supporters a "Very Happy Fourth of July" 2010!
Rev. Jeremiah Wright-Chicago
Would you believe that I had to 'entertain' numerous 'complaints about this man from people at my local church FCC Stamford (as their Sr. Deacon at the time?) Can you imagine ME making excuses for Wright? Well...I didn't. But I did, to my shame, express the opinion I was 'urged' to express that 'each United Church of Christ is AUTONOMOUS'. This is a lie, plain and simple, as I found out when I attended the UCC Synod 2007 in Hartford, CT where the Keynote Speaker Sen. Barack Obama either DID or DID NOT give his first presidential campaign speech, depending upon who you ask. Bottom-line: the UCC worked to get Obama elected, period, and relentlessly at that, including from the pulpit.
I know that you share the sentiment below regarding my by-line derived of my 'church', the UCC and it's Anti-American politicking:'NOT GOD DAMN AMERICA (a la Rev. Jeremiah Wright, the Obama Family Pastorof the same denomination I have belonged to for 20+ years!)...but GOD BLESS AMERICA!'
I'm no longer 'silenced' and 'shackled' by a ruthless church group whose only interest is getting their politicians elected. I am OUT AND PROUD as the conservative I've always been...the odd woman out, for sure.
They sure 'liked me then when I was politically quiet' and as long as I kept my conservative views 'to myself' and tried to be open-minded and believing their hype. They liked me as I 'fronted' for them with their programs and services....a nice face, I guess, for the Obama/Wright crowd.
I know for SURE they liked the money I tithed. Oh what kind of fool was I?
Now my 'apolitical days' have come to an end, thanks to of all things, MY CHURCH! I am asking that all voters reading this heed my words and vote for Rob Merkle. I know that I must redeem myself for all that I have inadvertently supported over the years and doing some campaigning myself is one of the ways I seek to accomplish that.
For my Love of the Lord, my loved ones, and the U.S.A., I do this!
Reverend Barbara Sexton--free of the UCC and now free in Christ!
