Dear Ones: Here is a FREE PICTURE for you to use AND instructions for how to make your own CANDY CROSSES.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Believe it or not, this Cross is made from Lifesavers and Skittles. Put aluminum foil on a cookie sheet and grease it with olive oil or other cooking oil. Line up Lifesavers so they 'touch' and place Skittles where desired. Place in low oven (250-300 degrees F), observing regularly, till sufficient melting of candies has occurred. You don't want the candies to get 'too thin' so they don't break apart easily. Remove candies from oven and before the candies firm up too much, poke a hole in the top to put a hanger thread though. That's it, voila! Handle carefully. "These candy crosses are as fragile and as beautiful as our faith! And like our faith, should things 'fall apart', we are given sustinance in our broken state for strength to start over again."
I made this up, in case you couldn't tell, remembering a childhood visit to Barton Candy Factory in NY and their working with molten lemon drop base. Anyone remember Bartons? Please, if you successfully make a Cross of your own, I sure would appreciate it if you sent me a picture of it! With Love, Reverend Barb BarbaraKSexton@aol.com
