PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO PRAY WITH ME FOR THE PEOPLE OF POLAND AND RUSSIA
Dear Father In Heaven:It is with a heavy heart that we pray for the grieving people of both Poland and Russia, after the terrible air disaster resulting in the loss-through-death of Poland's President Lech Kaczynski and his wife Maria, and many military and civilian officials. We cannot imagine the sense of loss, fear and heartache all the Polish people are feeling at this time...mirrored by the people of Russia who have also suffered a great loss. Our prayer for today is to ask for Your help and Infinite Understanding as to why certain things had to come to pass. Please help us to 'make sense' if that is possible, of this apparently incidental 'carnage' on the very anniversary of good Polish and Russian peoples on their mission of reconciliaton. While striving to finally bury the animosities born of the World War II Katyn Massacre, the purveyors of this healing endeavor are now, themselves, being buried. Lord help all souls understand why this has happened. Is it so that the reconciliation which could not occur in life be realized now 'in death'? If so, may it be Your Will to release the Polish and Russian people from the grip of the fear and anger of Katyn 'then' and Katyn 'now'. Let all see how alike we are in our common purposes and common destinies to put all evil behind us. We pray to you, dear Lord, for renewal and that the seeds of death sown today result in the new peace of tomorrow. Give us this Eastertide a miracle, this second Sunday of Easter. We humbly pray, O God, that goodness and peace prevail in Poland, Russia and everywhere on earth.
We pray this in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
"Chrystus powstał! On rzeczywiście powstała!'
Or in the language of my childhood:
"Христос Воскрес! Воистину Воскрес!'
"Christ has arisen!", spoken upon greeting a loved one, who then responds with, "INDEED He has arisen!"
Russian Pron: "HREESTOFF VahssCRESS! Vo-EES-TEEN-YA VahssCRESS!"
